Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Tzel grinned back at her. Feeling butterflies in his stomach as she asked him to dance. Tzel bit his lip and looked immensely worried. He stepped forwards, eyes downcast, prepared to admit the sad truth. Then she said the magic words that made everything better again. Tzel grinned forwards and took her hand bowing deeply. "M'lady, I would be honored to grace you with my dancing skill that is on par with your own." he giggled at his joke and took her hand, placing his other hand on her waist as he had seen the men do in the dance going on above. Slowly he tried to lead in a clumsy imitation of a box step, doing his best not to step on her feet. As they got into the rhythm better it seemed a bit easier. He smiled happily and took his hand away from her hip, brushing the hair out of her eyes before letting his hand rest on her hip once more. Leaning in closely he whispered "You really are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." Falling silent and blushing still, unable to muster the courage to say more at this moment. |

Chase smiled and placed her hand on his shoulder, holding his other hand. He led clumsily at first, and she tripped a few times, but he had a good enough hold on her so that she stayed on her feet at least. Finally they got the rhythm down and actually started to dance, but she was still very careful about her feet so she wouldn't step on his feet. She smiled and looked at him happily. He was blushing as he said she was beautiful and brushed her hair out of her face. She felt a blush fall across her cheeks too and she looked down towards her feet embarrassed, seeing the space between them looking slightly surprised at how far they were standing apart, but not bothering to move any closer. "Thank you." She whispered blushing as she stared at the his chest in front of her. "I think you are very handsome." She said smiling and blushing harder. "Where did you get the change of clothes?' She asked having just noticed that he had changed his clothes before he had come out here. "They are very nice." She said smiling at him looking up at him in the eyes, green meeting hazel and she smiled blushing and glancing away again. She had a hard time keeping eye contact, having never met eye contact with a guy that made her blush to badly before. |

Tzel watched her blush, and blushed further himself. It was funny how that seemed to keep happening with them. Still, now was not the time to wonder what the consequences were of prolonged, excess blood flow to the face. Tzel's thoughts were nowhere near such intriguing subject matter. He was lost completely in the face of the girl before him. Hearing she thought he was handsome, and wondering how much she really meant it and how much was just to be polite. Tzel beamed with pride when she complimented his conjured clothing. With a smirk he simply replied, "Just another little trick of mine, its nothing special." He continued to dance, as the music took a slower turn to something more intimate. Feeling encouraged, and knowing now was one of the rare moments he would have the courage to do so, he stepped closer to dance with her. Sliding his hand from her hip to the middle of her back. Her green eyes sparkled in the lights he had created, the closeness he had shared, his desire to protect her, how nice and special she made him feel. Tzel knew he could never forgive himself if he did not take the chance now, for what moment could be greater than this? He leaned in his head over her shoulder, dancing much closer now. "Thank you..." was all he said in a quiet whisper. Finally, leaning in a little closer, Tzel did what he had not yet been brave enough to do before, with any girl who had called to his fickle heart. He gently, timidly, placed his lips on her cheek in a kiss, soft as a whisper.... |

Chase smiled at him and felt him move closer. She looked a bit surprised her heart hammering nervously. His hand went around to the back of her back and his head over her shoulder. She didn't know why but she was blushing scarlet now. It was almost like an extended hug, this dancing thing. Then she felt his lips brush her cheek. "Oh sorry." She whispered having thought that she had moved her head and made his lips touch her cheek. She smiled though and half closed her eyes, swaying with the music. It was all rather beautiful, her in a dress, dancing with a man with tails. The music was soft, they were basically in an extended hug. It was nice, to know that she could have a friend like Tzel. Someone she could dance with and not feel like he would hurt her somehow. She smiled. "Hey Tzel, thanks for being my friend, this is so much fun!" She said thinking a bit. It was odd, her world as of today, when you met someone, you never knew if you were ever going to see them again. As a Faun she had met someone and stayed friends for life. Now though.. she would run into someone and not see them for a month as she ran around the world, visiting new places, seeing new things. These days she didn't travel much, her new body couldn't really take it, sometimes she would travel as a Faun, simply because it was easier. But now.. now she was starting to grow some muscle, even though she was MUCH to skinny for her height, she was much to weak for her age. She had basically started new, with no muscle, no fat, just skin, and bones. So here she was, building it up, feeling tired already, but her leg muscles were getting pretty good, and so was her abs. She was starting to fill out finally. But was still much to skinny. She smiled and swayed with him some more, glancing at the floor and seeing their reflection, two good friends, with flaming faces. Why was he blushing so badly? She moved back a little bit to gaze at his face. "I'm sorry did I step on your foot?" She asked glancing down at their feet, having not felt it if she had. She was worried about why his face was so red. Not really knowing that he was blushing. |

Tzel's heart hit the floor and broke into a million pieces. He couldn't blame Chase, it was his own fault. He'd been too timid, too scared, and just wasn't good enough for this beautiful creature he held in his arms. Chase was his friend, and saw him as nothing more. It was apparent in her wounding words. She smiled at him and he did as best he could to return the smile. "It's my pleasure" He stated in a weakened voice. "No, you didn't step on my foot, I was....I was just thinking of something ridiculous...don't worry about it." Tzel looked away from Chase and let go of her hand taking another step back. He couldn't look straight at her so he tried to appear as if he was looking around the room. In truth, Tzel was fighting the tears that wanted to breach his eyes. Don't you be a baby! Don't do this, she'll want to know why and then what will you say? How will you look when she finds out the truth! Cut that out now! His mind chastised. Tzel bit his lip and turned so his back was completely facing Chase. He was quiet a moment and had to intentionally will himself to keep swishing his tails, though his ears drooped quite visibly. When Tzel turned back his blush had gone, his eyes were watery; but he hoped Chase would not notice. His smirk of casual confidence seemed to lack heart. "I'm sorry Chase, I've been keeping you here too long. You should be up there in the real dance, rather than chasing dreams through the dust down here with me." As he said this, the music had slowed to a stop. The instruments vainshed, the dust appeared again slowly, and finally the lights seemed to dim back to the many orbs. The orbs reduced themselves to two, one hanging over Tzel and one hanging over Chase, as Tzel walked over to her, his fancy clothes faded away revealing his real attire once more. He would have liked to keep dancing with her, keep pretending and being close; but his spirit could do it no more, knowing that it lead nowhere. His illusions had not been disrupted, Tzel was simply forced to let them go because he lacked the will to keep them about when his heart did not match the scenery he had created. Tzel gave another smirk and offered an arm to Chase. "Shall we return to the surface, m'lady?" |

Chase looked confused. He looked sad, she could tell. He sounded sad, and then he said he was thinking of something ridiculous and it made her feel bad. What had she done? She thought back, nothing she could remember.. She had turned her head on accident, but that wasn't anything really. She watched he, looked sad, and offered his arm to her. She frowned slightly, but nodded. "Ok." She said taking hold of his arm, watching his clothes vanish before her eyes, the music stopped and the hall became dusty and worn again. She didn't know what to do, he looked so sad. But he was smirking, playing it off, but that hidden sadness was there. She glanced at the entrance and then smiled at him. "Shall we go my friend?" She asked smiling at him and curtsying before turning and starting her way towards the entrance, still gripping his arm. Her mind was a whirlwind though. What had she said to him? What had she done to make him so sad?! He was her friend! She wanted to help him so badly, but if he didn't want to tell her she wasn't going to ask. But the question burned in the back of her throat. "What's wrong Tzel?" She finally blurted out turning to look at him. "I'm sorry if I hurt you or something, but.. I have to tell you I don't get hidden meanings behind things! I'm rather.. new to all of this." She said still walking. "You seem so sad, was it something I said?" She asked looking at him carefully over her shoulder as they walked up the small incline back up to the dancing and music, and people. She sighed slightly and shook her head, realizing her hair had came down and not bothering to put it back up. Glancing at Tzel she noticed his half hearted wave of the tails, how his ears seemed to drop just slightly. "I'm so sorry!" She said starting to look frantic. She had no idea what had made him so sad! She tried to think of every possibility but she could only think of his lips brushing her cheek and that had been an accident! She felt so bad and she wanted to just give him a hug. But she was afraid that would make it worse. So she kept walking, holding onto his arm. |

Tzel had wanted to avoid that, and now he felt worse. His sadness had shown through and now Chase was asking questions. He did not want her to feel any worse on his behalf, so he stopped there in the tunnel and placed both his hands on her shoulders looking directly into her eyes. His watery eyes simply stared into hers for a long moment before he pulled her close to him and hugged her tightly; but not too tight. Holding her like that for a long moment, Tzel then stepped back and had burried his feelings deeper. With a soft smile he continued to gaze into those glittering green orbs. "Chase, don't worry you didn't do anything wrong. You will learn, in time, what happened; but for now, just know you didn't do anything wrong." Looking into his eyes, he leaned forward pressing his forehead gently against hers. "Chase, you are a very special girl, don't ever forget that. I'm glad you are my friend." With that having been said he took her by the arm and lead her the rest of the way out of the darkness and into the hallway, only a short walk away from where the ball was still going on. There he paused, still holding her hand. He knew he couldn't go back in there with her; but wasn't ready to say goodbye yet. Some small part of him still held on to the dream he'd been having, and he wasn't ready to let it die. So he stood, silently, still holding her hand. |

Chase looked at him unhappily for a moment and when he stopped she stared at him. One day she would know what had happened? She felt terrible that she didn't know. It must be a Human thing that most people knew but she hadn't learned yet. Which made her feel bad, so when he hugged her she hugged him tightly trying to show that she had no idea what was going on. Then they started down the tunnel again. Then he stopped, she could hear the music playing louder now, but he was just standing there. Looking at him curiously she didn't know what to say. He looked like he was struggling with himself. "Tzel." She said softly staring at him as he simply stood there holding her hand. "I really am sorry that I made you sad." She said softly staring at him. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." She said gripping his hand tighter and taking a small step closer to him. She looked at him sadly afraid she had really hurt his feelings. She hated to think that she had hurt him in some way. To think that she had made him feel sad. She hated that. So moving closer she gave him another hug, holding onto him tightly, wishing she could show him how much it meant to her to have a friend like him. She would never forget him. "Hey maybe one day we'll meet up again, ya know?" She asked smiling at him. "I usually stay around the forests in Soto, so if you're ever passing through, check in on Madrid, I might be.. near there." She said thinking of an excuse. "If I'm not then I may be out wandering somewhere." She said giggling as she hugged him tightly. |

Tzel smiled softly being embraced once more. Even if his heart felt like it had been ripped in two, he was still happy to have Chase as his friend. He held on to her as well, smelling the scent of her hair, hoping to remember the good times of this night later when the pain would be less. "It's not your fault Chase, I told you not to worry about it." He said soft and reassuringly. "We will definitely meet again. I'll seek you out someday, or you will come across me. If you ever need anything, there's a tree in Soto. In the Erth'natora forest, in the middle of a green grove, it has red leaves. If you put a note in that tree, I'll find it eventually." He pulled away and looked into here eyes. He gave her a real smile. "Hang on, I've got something for you." Tzel turnd his back to her and rummaged in his pocket pulling out a piece of paper. Useing his tails to block the view, Tzel's fingers flew across the paper molding it to his wishes. Soon a paper flower had been made. Around it he folded a second piece that would unfurl when she took it. Turning back around, Tzel smiled and offered her the flower. "To remember me by. There's a note around the stem; but don't look at it until after I leave." Smiling to Chase he waited for her to take the humble present. |

Chase smiled and let go of him, watching as he turned around and hid something for her. Something for her? They had just met! She waited patiently not sure what he was doing. Then he held out a paper flower. She gasped softly and took it, watching the second piece unfurl when she took a hold of it. "It's so beautiful." She whispered taking hold of the paper and then looking up at him. A note around the stem? She lifted it up and looked at the note before nodding carefully. She would do as he said and read it after he was gone. "Wait, after the party? Or after we go back out there?" She asked looking at him carefully still holding the beautiful paper flower in her hand. She had never received a gift before. She had always been taught up with birthdays you got paraded around, and in the winter you ate a feast, never presents, so she was deeply touched by the flower. She had no clue what was expensive or home made, but she loved the flower very very much. |

"After I'm gone, Chase." Tzel stated, his answer didn't seem to clarify things until he looked at her and hugged her one last time. Turned away and walked quickly to the end of the hall, vanishing around the corner. If she was to follow him, as soon as she turned the corner he would be out of sight. The kitsune weaved an illusion of invisibility around himself and walked out of the ballroom through the structure back to that awful bridge. With a heavy sigh, he appeared visible again, put his arm over his eyes and began to run forwards. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" If you are ever in serious danger, go to Morim, to any member of the council, and tell them you are a friend of Tzelendal and you need help. That's my real name, they will help you. Thanks again for an evening I will never forget. -Tzel P.S. You are right, it is terrible being a noble. |

Chase watched as he disappeared off into the crowd and slowly took hold of the note attached to the flower. Taking it off she slowly read through it. She sighed slightly and then stared at the P.S. What did he mean? Was he.. a noble? She stared at it for a long time her eyes traveling to the signature before staring at the P.S. again. He was a noble? She hadn't even been able to tell! That meant.. She had probably made fun of him earlier! She was shocked but she slowly hid it away and put the note into a hidden pocket in her dress, and attached the flower to the front of her cape. Sighing slightly she walked out into the busy dance, thinking back on how sad he had looked, how lonely he had looked. She sighed and glanced around and heard a distant shout. Realizing he had left the party she slowly went back to her original spot, but was soon unable to take it anymore and left the party, long after the distant shout had disappeared. She stood up and lifting up the edges of her dress she slowly made her way out of the ball room. Walking over the bridge, her mind distracted. Before finally getting to the other side and starting on the long way home again, changing out of her dress about halfway there into her normal clothes. It had been a long night and she couldn't wait to get to sleep again. |
