Drake had been flying, with Chase on his back, for... A long, long time. It had been probably nine or ten in the morning at the latest when Drake had taken off with Chase hanging on, and now it was midnight. Drake was feeling a bit tired by now, but he kept going, making sure Chase didn't fall. Drake felt alive when he was flying. It was kind of funny how birds seemed to start flying faster if he got anywhere within about a hundred yards of them, and just the sheer flight itself, the wind blowing past his scales as he flew was so amazing. Drake continued flying, until finally Kinaldi was in sight. The moon shone upon the city, and everything around, and the stars shined down on everything too. The sky was beautiful, everything was beautiful. But he couldn't just fly into the city as a dragon. People would probably freak out. He began lowering toward the ground as he flew, and then several hundred feet away from the gate, he landed. Drake said softly, Chase, we're here. We've reached Kinaldi. How are you feeling? He couldn't shift back into human form until she got off of his back, so part of his talking to her was basically like saying "Okay, you can get off of me now." without actually saying it like that... |

Chase was freezing. They had been flying for a long long time, and she had developed some really bad chills, and a really bad cough. She coughed hard and it felt like she was hacking up a lung. The day had long past, and the moon had come up, when a city was in view. She didn't know where they were, nor did she care that much, as long as she could get warm. His scales beneath her made her feel hot just there, but she was shivering with cold and fatigue by the time they finally landed. He told her they had come and she slowly fell off of his back, landing on a soft spot and laying there for a long time before managing to get to her feet coughing hard. "Thanks Drake." She whispered shivering. She knew he would probably want to change back so she moved her hand off of his side, standing by herself for a long moment before she started to get dizzy. "Drake.." She whispered softly and staggered. Chase was a normal looking girl, except that right now she was extremely skinny, pale and was shivering furiously. Her body was covered in bruises made by her own bones, that no matter how many times Drake healed them came back shortly. She was all skin and bone and had almost no muscle to her. Her short brown hair was held together loosely by two yellow ribbons and she wore a pink cloth over her chest, and long men pants. Chase was also a shape shifter, but at the moment she was to weak to even think about going to a small form. Something more manageable. She whimpered and looked at Drake. "Drake I need to get inside somewhere, I don't know how much farther I can go." She whispered staggering again before after one last look at Drake, she fainted. |

Ruen sat on Hrimfaxi back wide awake, the dark of night being her favourite time to travel. With fewer people she and Hrimfaxi received less suspicious glares and frightened gasps. The night was crisp and clear, putting Ruen in a decent mood. They had been traveling for some time now, they had not much else to do in recent days as there were few people looking to hire a necromancer, even of her sorts. "There should be city gates up ahead, still some ways away but you should prepare yourself" Hrimfaxi's deep voice seemed to rumble comfortably through Ruen. She nodded curtly, knowing that even though he wouldn't have seen it he would be aware she had acknowledge him. Trodding forward Ruen took Hrimfaxis warning into account as she began scanning her surroundings, focusing mostly on what lie ahead in hopes of catching a glimpse of the city they were headed for. Instead a large black figure became apparent. Squinting her eyes in an attempt to get a better look Ruen hopped off Hrimfaxis back, he adjusting his stride accordingly. "What in the lights grace is that?" she breathed curiously, placing her hand on Hrimfaxis side. "It would appear to be a dragon I believe" he replied simply, seeming much less intrigued than she was. Quickening her pace Ruen headed for the large dark mass in her line of sight, but slowed to approach more cautiously when she came nearer, circling around on side, staring up at him. Her focus on the dragon was broken when she caught out of the corner of her eye the female figure laying on the ground, and after a quick glance back at Hrimfaxi, bent down in hopes of helping her without saying a word. |

Drake felt as Chase slid off of his back, and kept her hand on his side for some time. By the angle, she must have been laying on the ground. Drake turned his head to look at her... Yeah, she was on the ground. He watched as she struggled to her feet, coughing, and both felt and saw as she took her hand off of his side. Drake watched in concern. Was she alright...? She whimpered, and said that she had to get inside, she didn't know how much longer she could go on... Then she fell to the ground. Drake stared, having trouble comprehending. What...? He then realized that he'd heard and seen someone coming up behind, but hadn't really noticed. He'd heard them talking too, hadn't paid attention... Drake realized that they were quite near now, and silently cursed how unobservant he could occasionally be. The one that actually appeared human bent down to help Chase, and Drake felt a surge of relief. Drake shifted back into human form in a flash of light, and bent down to help Chase himself saying "Thanks. We should probably get her somewhere to rest, she's not doing too good..." |

Ruen stumbled a bit as there was a flash of light, confused at how suddenly someone had come up beside her, not having realized there was someone else there. Glancing behind her she noticed the dragon was now gone. Looking back and forth between where the dragon had been and this person who had so quickly come up she held her face expressionless, though she was truly baffled. With the intent of asking questions later she glanced back down at the bruised female form still laying on the ground. "I believe there is a city up ahead, we can put her on Hrimfaxis back, he can carry her more quickly than I believe we could. I have some simple herbs that should be able to ease a small amount of pain if she's in any, and bring her back to consciousness once she's resting, but they work differently on everyone so there's no guarantee..." her voice trailed off, she should be blathering on like this. Eying the man with more interest than when they had first approached Hrimfaxi positioned himself behind the individual to accept the unknowing passenger. "Ruen is significantly smaller, it would be appreciated if you were to place her on my back. There will be time for introductions later." his tone abrupt and to the point. |

"Hrimfaxis?" Drake repeated the strange word back, slightly confused. Then, he realized, and would have smacked his palm against his forehead if he hadn't been holding Chase in his arms by now. It must be that horse-like creature over there, though even from here Drake could tell that it wasn't a horse by... Well, scent. It was nice having enhanced senses like this. But that wasn't important right now. He wasn't actually looking in the direction of the creature at the moment. "Ah, I see." Drake said, "Well, thank you..." Drake heard the creature coming up behind him, and turned around when he heard it speak. Well, that was interesting to say the least... Drake nodded, and hauled Chase up on top of the creature's back. Drake was now able to see just how different from a horse the creature was, with its horns, its extra pair of legs, and the patterns on its fur... He was somehow not surprised though. He himself was able to turn into a dragon, no doubt there were all sorts of creatures around... Drake turned around and began walking toward the city gate. He couldn't help glancing back every now and then as he walked, he was rather concerned about Chase... |

Hrimfaxi trodded along at a fair pace, not wanting to waste time, it was quite obvious the girl needed shelter, and food by the looks of it. "I'm Hrimfaxi and that is Ruen. We had been traveling towards this city when we came across you. Have you visited this city before? Is it safe to assume they do not take kindly to strange outsiders seeing as you transformed before heading to the gates?" Ruen stared at Hrimfaxi confused when she heard 'transformed', but shook it off, sure that things would be explained in due time. "Is it a problem if I wake her now?" Ruen questioned the tall figure infront of her, "I may need to know if I require any extra herbs to aid her." Stopping for a moment to stick the end of her halberd in the ground and open a pouch at her side. Her herbs had been running a little low since they had started traveling, it had been a while since she had needed to use them, Hrimfaxi and herself hardly running in to any situations in which either of them were wounded. She pulled out two and started ripping them apart and rubbing them together in her hands, preparing them while she waited for a reply. |

Drake heard the horse-creature speak. It introduced itself, and its companion. Drake had guessed its name from what Ruen had said already though. It asked if he had visited this city before, and asked about how they would react to "strange outsiders" since he'd transformed at before heading to the gate. Drake responded, "I used to live here actually. Mostly I transformed before reaching the gates because I figured that human form would be better than dragon form for dealing with people in the city. How would you react to a telepathic dragon flying through the door if you owned an inn?" Drake chuckled at the thought of that. He then heard the woman, Ruen, question him about if she should wake Chase now. Drake thought for a moment, and then shook his head. "I'd think it might be a good idea to just let her rest..." Suddenly, he thought of something. "Gah! How could I forget... I have a healing spell, this might help." He walked over next to Hrimfaxi, and more importantly, Chase and held his hands out toward the unconscious girl. He closed his eyes, and... Well, he pictured the healing power just flowing through her. It took more energy than just trying to heal some bruises or something, but it was the only way what he was trying would work. Drake was actually trying to suppress the effects of whatever sickness she had. It wouldn't cure it, but it should go way down for a while. Not to mention that everything that could be healed by his spell automatically would be, such as the bruises she had once again. Drake opened his eyes and a light with a very slight greenish tinge around the edges appeared from his hands and enveloped Chase. Once it was done, Drake lowered his hands again and said somewhat tiredly, since he now had less energy than he'd had before, and he'd already been exhausted from flying for way more than twelve hours straight, "She'll still probably need some rest... And whatever she's sick with, I couldn't cure it, just suppress it, I'm not powerful enough..." He continued walking toward the gate... |

Chase had just been able to see someone, something coming near her when she fell to the ground. But it went black. Blackness surrounded her, but there was a light. A light? She walked towards it, feeling like she was walking through sand. Someone stood there in front of her. She frowned and ran as fast as she could getting ever closer, but feeling no closer then before. Suddenly she stumbled into a clearing. She was in a clearing that was very familiar to her. A child lay in her hands. She looked down at it surprised, and saw a little human child, with brown fuzz on her head, and bright green eyes staring up at her. She was giggling softly and playing with the cloak around her neck. Chase looked down at the cloak and realized she was older then she had been before. She knew what she had to do. Taking a step into the clearing she looked around. The Fauns would be here soon, the Fauns were always having their festivals in this clearing, and it was that time of year. Chase smiled down at the young child, who had just changed her hair colour to pink, then black, then back to it's original brown. The baby giggled and cooed before yawning and slowly falling asleep. Creeping out into the clearing Chase looked around for a long moment, until deeming it was safe she set the bundle down. Placing her hand on the child's forehead she smiled. "Goodbye my little Chastity, farewell, maybe one day we will meet and I will tell you why I had to leave you. I love you." She whispered tears in her eyes, and she spun around running out of the clearing, transforming into a deer as she went. Bounding she hid behind a tree, not five minutes after she had put the bundle down, the Fauns appeared. Gasping and gaping at the infant in the bundle, who lay sleeping. Chase watched from a distance as they picked her up and she woke up, a mother and a father who had been unable to bear children looked startled when suddenly the human child transformed into a little baby Faun. They hugged it, and left the clearing, taking it back home. Chase realized that her time had come to leave this place, and possibly never see her daughter again. Turning on her tail she sprinted into the forest. Chase yelled out sitting up. She was on some animals back, Drake was walking towards the gate, her body didn't hurt so badly, and she even felt a little better. "Drake." She croaked out sitting up and clinging to the animal she was riding. The dream she had had was still so visible in her mind, the baby with the green eyes who could change their hair colour, the baby who had giggled and cooed, before turning into a Faun because the mother had to leave. The mother.. who she had played, being able to transform too. Chase held on tightly and looked around, seeing a woman beside her. "Where am I?" She whispered her hands shaking slightly as she examined her surroundings. Apparently they hadn't even entered town yet, but what was she riding? She looked around and then took a deep breath, clearing her throat. "Drake!" She called out quietly hoping he would hear her. |

Hrimfaxi appeared to nod his head in understanding as Drake explained that he had lived there previously. It made perfect sense to Ruen, though after hearing his explanation it made sense why Hrimfaxi had asked, there had been plenty of occasions where their presence had not been well accepted in a new town. Hrimfaxi slowed to a stop as Drake re-approached him to allow him to do what he could with his magic. Ruen looked down at the herbs in her hands and placed them in the pouch in a pocket separate from the other herbs, she planned on saving them for later should she happen to need them. Hrimfaxi was slightly caught off gaurd as Chase startled awake, but simply shook his head to show his minor discomfort. Ruen looked back from her pouch at Chase, then towards Drake and rushed over, carefully examining Chase's arms and shoulders. She pulled out a few small fruits she had in her pouch and offered them to the figure still mounted on Hrimfaxi and the rather tall figure standing close by. Hrimfaxi turned slightly to stuff his nose in her pouch and help himself to some of the fruits as well, they were quite refreshing in the cool night air. "You look like you could use these" |

Drake suddenly thought he heard Chase's voice. It was faint, a croak, but he heard it clearly with his powerful hearing. He looked toward her, and saw that she was sitting up. She seemed to look around, and then she asked where she was. Drake was exhausted now, and somehow had trouble registering the question, until she called out his name again. Drake shook his head, and managed to speak, though he sounded rather tired, "We're outside Kinaldi, about to head into the town to find somewhere to rest. You doing okay...?" He didn't really have much else to say. So tired... He suddenly realized just how exhausted he was. Drake didn't notice as Ruen got something out and held it out until he heard her speak. Drake looked toward the small fruit blankly for a second, his exhaustion making it difficult to think. Then he said, "Oh, thank you..." and took one, popping it into his mouth. |

Chase looked around, seeing Drake come closer and then seeing the woman. She looked down at the fruit groggily and took one, slipping it into her mouth she laid down against the mounts neck silently looking weak. "Thanks." She whispered chewing it slowly, barely able to eat it let alone sit back up. "What's wrong with me? Why can't I move?" She whispered putting one hand on the mounts neck and the other hanging limply. "I'm so cold." She whispered shivering again. Though if you were to touch her forehead it would be burning up with a severe fever. She whimpered softly and laid still for a long moment trying to catch her breath. It was night out, a soft wind was blowing, there were crickets chirping somewhere, and the lady had just given her a fruit. She could barely lift her head, but she saw Drake. She couldn't even make out words now, to tired to try. She laid limply against the mounts back, her eyes closing as she shivered from the fever. Not warm enough to even begin trying to sweat it off. It was then that her muscles started to shake, contracting and releasing quickly as though trying to warm themselves up. She gasped in pain and doubled over, sitting up her arms around her middle as her body started to have small muscles spasms. "Make it stop please!" She sobbed as her body tried to correct her body heat, by working off extra energy and making her sweat. It was soon that she was covered in a film of cold sweat, her body forcing her to heat up so that she could fight off whatever was hurting her. "Make it stop!" She sobbed almost falling off of the mount as she laid back down against it unable to fight the spasms anymore. She just lay there her body quivering and shaking, her muscles tightening then releasing quickly over and over again. She was exhausted, and before she could say much more, she had fallen asleep, unable to do anything else to heal her body then to sleep and let it fix itself. |
