Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

In the Western quarter of the fair city of Kinaldi, a place lovingly referred to as Tunetown, one stranger wandered in trying to look as if she belonged. Yume's upper body was clothed in the upper half of a silken, hooded dress. Crimson in color it was vibrant and clearly expensive, however the truth of the garb was that she had paid to have this discarded half of a piece of clothing trimmed and hemmed so that the upper class city would be unaware of it's origins. This meant that her midriff was exposed to the elements though she hoped that any who would see the gem embedded in her body where her navel should be, was decorative and expensive as opposed to part of her horrid disfigurement. her lower body was clad in a purple dress that went all the way to down to hide her sandal clad feet from sight. This half of her garb had a similar story as the upper half, only fortune would have it that the two seemed similar enough in color.

The woman with opalesscent eyes moved through the musical streets with a slightly increased pace. She wanted to reach the tavern before sunset. There she could rest for the night at a table in a corner by the fire, and just listen to the voices of all around her, pretending she was welcomed. Yume had saved for weeks to afford the alterations to her clothing as well as drinks that should last her the night. It was the closest thing she got to getting to go about and enjoy herself.

One night in a well lit tavern was all she would ask, before returning to her tent in the "forest" at sun up, and sleep enough to flee back to the lower city before anyone noticed that she was not the kind they welcomed in this city.

Yume entered the tavern and saw the table she had sat at a month before, still vacant. She paid the barman to have a single glass of wine brought to her and then sat with her back to the wall adn the fireplace to her right, not removing her hood as she held her glass debating if it was safe to drink or if she should simply find a way to dispose of it without anyone noticing. Finally, in a rare bout of "recklessness" she drank from the glass till it was empty and set her special, one of a kind deck onthe table. The symbols on the back of the cards were similar enough that anyone familiar with the culture would know she was a fortune teller, while the educated types would be unaware that she practiced the "foolish arts of superstition".

Yume watched the other patrons from beneath her hood and closed her eyes a moment to simply listen to the nearby chatter of other people.

Dank as the venue was it was not a dive. A man hording all the monotone he could muster sat and waited the night had not be a victory. The swords and shields had taken away from him his prize. Engorging himself, he knew what he looked like and well tonight was the night to look like a drunken fool. They where looking for a sly thief wrapped in ebon striding the roof tops. He was in a hole away from the home of the noble he had tried to steal from. It looked like the ace had slipped out his sleeve a bit to early the eye of the law had seen his hand a bit to quick and they had not intention of playing the rest of the game. Keeping all the deception of a half tilted toward his face, wide brimmed jet night colored hat low. Humans they were all the same he lot of them this place was once beautiful like his home once but humans made a habit of up heaving the land and desecrating all that is nature. For now though he would have to keep such thoughts to his self. No one wanted to hear from the elf in the room even if he acknowledged that he was an elf. He took on the appearance not of either of his parents respective races. Though his face hung low close to the bar he sat at from his thin wiry arms it was clear for all to see he was less than human.

Though it was clear he was lest than human he fit no define race of the area. Skin like ash ran from his stone colored gloves to the poncho of thick fibered mesh. Locks of monotone slate ran down from beneath his hat and it fell over his shoulders and around his face. Guilt stuck to him like fly to the hind of the beast. Though he thought his poker face had no tells he was wrong and it was clear he had done something. Deep in his slump he almost did not notice the child siting not to far from him. Any one below 80 was a child to him sadly...this meant most humans fell in this range though in terms of elves he was not particularly old himself. Gaining control of himself once more he shook his body to life. Though faint at first starting with his fingers which fell beneath the bar table. Tossing it to across the table out in front of him it came down with a loud thud. From bellow the his large head dress a scarily audible voice grizzle and raspy called out for the bar keep. Sliding the other hand out from under his hat he slowly and with guile rolled two gold pieces from one finger to the next and then back. He wanted some thing stronger then usual. Lifting with all the arm strength that could be mustered he faced the bar keep who was helping child he had seen arrive not to long ago.

Wine she ordered wine this place was far to nice for the likes of him. But the authority would never check this place they were likely in one of the dives out at the edge of town. Averting his gaze from the man behind the bar. Taking his crimson gaze and placing it on the child wrapped in reds and purples. To had taken the whole of the cup back as if it were an item much stronger then it was. Then again she was a small woman very meager for a human of this part of the city. She did not quite fit with the crowds he wade through day after day. Equally as strange was the fact she took cards out a deck of strange origin they looked like nothing he had seen before. Quickly an almost clawed hand grazed over the cards. 'Enzo you have seen this before but where what is this woman' he thought to him self. Hand now on the deck his brain flashed to life and his crimson eyes locked on to her. She was a future seers she could read the cards and see what was coming.

"Youngling a moment of your time...I could make it worth what time you have left human.." He almost whispered turning his other hand toward her showing her the gold in his hand. She might come in handy he thought to him self.

Yume felt a chill down her spine before her eyes snapped open in time to see a rather over garbed individual approach her. She heard his offer but did not take the coin at first. Something about the two pricks of red light searing at her from beneath his hat was unsettling. Yume knew there was danger here; but had a feeling refuseing would be just as dangerous.

What's more, he had been kind enough to call her human, and that sort of compliment was one Yume was not often used to hearing. After a long pause, she tore her opalescent gaze away from the twin crimson pinpricks, and took hold of the coins. She stowed them away out of sight and flashed a look back up to him. "My cards aren't like any you have seen before; but they are just as accurate. Tell me what you wish to know, though i can not promise you they will answer your question, if you do not ask the will never tell. Even if you do not get the question you wish answered, i assure you, what they show will come to pass. Tell me, stranger, what do you wish to know, and who is it that wishes to know this." Yume didn't always talk like this but since the man had offered her pay , after daring to place his clutches upon her deck, she had presumed that he expected a fortuneteller. Having seen and played the part for many years she knew what was expected of her. And after traveling on her own for a time, she had learned to state those warnings for ignorance of them had often lead to her endangerment. A few of her scars, were markings to remind her that customers needed to know as much of what was going on as they could, as early as possible.

"Sit, sit, the cards are not always quick." Yume stated as she offered the only other chair present at the small table. There was not enough space for more than two people at this table anyhow. Yume waited for compliance and answers before proceeding further, silently she shuffled the deck while she waited.

Having his fortune read was not some thing he had done often. Those gifted with sight of things yet to pass reminded the pale fiend of his home to much. The blind seer of his village had told him of a journey he would make and...well he was still waiting for this big destined excursion. After a few steps Enzo took heed of her question she had asked him who he was. There was more to the answer then he though she could comprehend, he was far more then a name to him self. How could he explain history in just a small greeting...not like she wanted to know him that well any way. Humans always gave their name and surname as if it were not important. They likely never had the history of their names but such were their ways. Taking yet another step with out fully removing his talons from the deck, he seemed focused on it as if it were more important then the fortune she had offered. Finally taking a seat and allowing his hands to fall away from the deck, he focused on what was most important at the moment her reaction. "Does it matter what ma name is...can't cha not see it with ya card SEER or does your talent not stretch that far," he said letting a foul grin spread across his lips. Though his smile went from ear to ear he never opened his mouth. His teeth never really show all that often. Having been enchanted like the rest of his body they all came to a rather sharp point much to his dismay this always caught the attention of others.

Lifting his hat a bit he revealed the rest of his, which was like the rest of him ash colored but strangely not to different from your average dark elf. Even with the shadow of his hat gone his eye still seem to emit a rather bright glow. There was no doubt that magic is what forced this luminescence out through his orbs."...Now child let us speak with fervor and haste time is not to be wasted...A man such as my self needs guarantee that your talents are worth what I am prepared to pay you..." A nefarious plan sat behind his lips waiting for the release of his explanation. If her powers were any good she would be perfect for the task he had in mind. If they where not it was likely her rare cards would fetch a nice price. Either way it was a win, win on his part it was not likely she would turn down a high paying job. She looked as though she could use a rather well paying appointment."How do ya feel bout the swords an shields round this city?," He asked anticipating her. His eyes grew large with excitement as his lips slowly cracked revealing a few pointed teeth. It was clear he was expecting her to answer a certain way.

Tapping the on his heel spur on the back of his chair he knew he was not about to let her answer the question. What she thought of the law men in this city was unimportant she only had a small task to do and he would see that she did it and stay out of the way."It does not matter...how quickly can ya produce ya power for the short term...can ya see five ta ten seconds into the future or are ya limited to the lofty far future like so many of your kind...," He asked allowing the smile to fall away as he spoke about the subject his voice grew cold and raspy. More toward the end it of his rant he began to lean toward her as if inspecting some thing on her no one else could see.It was clear what answer he was looking for. And the wrong answer did not look like to a good an idea at this point.

Yume began to get a cold feeling about the being who had approached her. She was quickly regretting the decision to come out on this night as she listened to him speak and watched as his smile spread a bit farther than any ever should without showing his teeth.

His question unsettled her. Yume, personally, liked the guard for the most part. They protected people from things like her, except for the occasional bad seed. She was beginning to regret having taken the coin handed to her at the start. Soon he was asking more prying questions and Bearing his sharklike teeth in a grin that poke too plainly of her current peril. Yume shivered more, knowing that the foul creature across from her wanted only one answer. Yume knew the only answer she had to give would result in her pain and possibly death. She had to stall.

Swallowing hard, Yume looked down at her deck, keeping it away from the others claws. "One question at a time stranger. They must be answered in the order they are given. You asked me to prove to you if i can see who you are." She spoke as calmly as she could fighting to keep the quiver out of her voice.

Yume focused on the question, hoping that it would at least buy her time and by some miracle keep her safe. Sadly, Yume's stall, would bring about its own brand of misery.

Turning the first card over it was an image of a beautiful white angel deeply intertwined with a black demon in a passionate kiss. "This is the forbidden" She said focusing and looking only upon the cards she turned over.

The next car she placed to the right of the first. It depict a magic circle, through which planets and stars could be seen, however it all appeared upon a grand unraveling tapestry. "The weave of Magic" she stated again not explaining any meaning yet. it was not yet time to determine anything.

"With this last card, all will be known." Yume stated still fighting her fear to speak normally, her eyes glued to her cards. As she flipped the last card, it was a simple one, a picture of an open flame. "Fire..." Yume was still and felt nothing. Suddenly her eyes turned completely black and the gemstones in her body began to glow red."Fire! FIRE! Burning everything burning all it touches consuming! Fire destructive fire will even devour itself in the end!" She spoke loud her eyes looking like two empty pits of blackness as she did so, her voice unlike that which would belong to any human. Instead a twin voice, one deep and grating the other fair and chiming. In her mind visions of fire filled her eyes, the thing she had seen standing amidst flames and death.

As suddenly as her vision had started, it stopped itself as Yume let out a scream. her eyes rolled back to their natural state but the gemstones shifted from glowing red to a blackness that seemed to absorb the light around them. The fire in the fireplace flickered and vanished in a rush of wind and Yume screamed in her normal voice. "NO! RUN! EVERYONE RUN!"

Before she had finished speaking, light flooded the room, but this was no roaring fire, it was a twisted green flickering blaze. A beast stood and stretched out from the fireplace, as tall as any man. It's bulky and awkward body looked pitch black; but it was wreathed in dancing green flames. Yume grabbed her cards and Flippe dhte table towards the beast before attempting to run past the man who was cause for her fear erupting into the world.

Now slightly skeptical the ash man looked upon the child he had put far to much of his hope in. In his over excitement might have said to much though she said she wanted to keep to the order in which the questions were asked it was rather clear to him that she was not the type for this line of work. Sadly she did take the two gold with out asking what for and so she would do some thing...to except gold in advance was like sign one name in blood it was not likely to be allow to be taken back. Seeing how he did ask her to use her power to see who he was, he had no choice but to sit and allow her to run through her card game. Now displeased Enzo fell back into his chair though he was listening he really wanted her to get to only part that interested him.

With the flip of the first card his eye widened a bit it reminded him of his birth but he would never allow such compromising information to spill from his lips. The two figures on the card seemed to be star cross lovers...his parents he had not seen either of them since the start of his journey. As soon as she mentioned the name of the card he waited for her to reveal its meaning but his waiting was not rewarded with an answer instead she moved on to the next. The next card did not interest him so much but it did seem as if she was building up to some thing. Maybe she would pull his name out of the air. If she manged that he would likely throw her another gold for the trouble...with the score he had in mind a few gold out of pocket would not kill him. Now truly interested in what she was going to pull out next Enzo found himself tapping his black nails against the table with fervor rapidly. Anxiousness was not an emotion show that could be seen on his face but his body show the clear signs of some one waiting for some thing big. Eyes wide lips curled forehead scrunched up he was about ready to see some results.

When the final card was flipped...Enzos famous stomach ache feeling kicked in fire was never a good thing. If she pulled out any bad cards it was likely he would have to add her to list long list of people he had wronged in this neck of the woods. And then with almost no warning The girl had an acute magic attack and pulled forth the voice a demon or two or that's what it sounded like. And as she spoke loud as all hell Enzo neck snapped back both ways to see who was looking. The little monster was making a scene in front of every one in the bar this wan attention he needed not at this time of night. Eyes like bottomless holes voice like the nether this girl had the stink of demons on her. Reeling from the magic spawned from the frail one Enzo fell back out of his chair and toward the hard wooden ground below him. Slamming his fist into the ground popped his back away from the wood beneath him. With how lite his frame was things like this were quite easy to do when he found himself in need for such actions.By then the girl had already screamed for every one to run and leave the bar. Enraged and now almost to his feet Enzo looked on in horror as things wen from bad to worse for him if the night continued like this he would have to leave town.

Emerald flames dancing all around the room...things where not looking good from this point on. She had created some sort of disturbance with her powers. Allowing a knife to slide out of the holster within his glove Enzo prepared for he fight at hand. Not to long afterward the all consuming flames of vile magic, an apparition came forth from the flames. He had been tricked she was going to take his gold and use this creature as a distraction to keep him off her trail. This idea was further proven to be most likely to be true, when she flipped the table and ran past him. Seeing this a betrayal the mans eye gained a immense glow as he looked upon the girl he knew she was likely from that display very attuned to magic. Bellowing ash as he spoke the man cast his spell prepared to launch his curse"Life's forces...tainted by the flesh burn..." the man roared cloads of dark hot ash filling the air around him. He would give her a chance to stop before burning her. While preparing Enzo used a more simple spell one that would make him mostly invisible, but also create a double of him which would be use a a distraction. Snapping his fingers the man faded from view just as a copy of himself came into existence. Whipping his blade out the copy ran toward the creature. Now free to pursue the girl Enzo hopped on to the table before using it to launch himself through the air. Though he appeared as faint as a shadow his red gleam shot through this ruse and revealed him quite clearly. Controlling his temper was never his strong point. Landing front of the girl still wrapped in shadow the man let loose a heavy and labored sigh. Crimson ash rolling off his tongue he figured it was time to get what he had coming to him.

"STOP CHILD OR YOU ARE DEAD...."

Yume bolted past the man as she heard the sounds of someone shouting. Other people blocked her way as they raced and trampled one another to reach the door. A cluster dispersed when the creature threw a table acros the room knocking several people down. Yume herself now had a clean stretch to the door if she leaped over the bodies of those knocked down.

Suddenly the smoldering ash arose and wrapped around Yume constricting her, filling her with more terror. The beast had singled her out already! It was hot and caused Yume's eyes to water and her lungs to burn. She choked and coughed, staggering forwards trying to get away from this place and the grasp of that which would have her slain. A voice boomed something at her but all Yume saw were the glowing red eyes of her former threat. She staggered forwards and attempted to shove him towards the door.

"Run! Escape while you can Enzo!" She was not sure how she knew his name; but it probably came to her during her vision. She choked and coughed through the ash she believed to be created by the monster born from her curse.

The beast itself saw the attacker but' it's attention was focused on only one target. As the wooden floor, soaked in alcohol lit ablaze behind it, the nightmareish creature with flaming arms grabbed another table and swung it in attempt to bat aside the one it saw lunge towards it. After that it continued marching forwards, one burning hand extending out to grab Yume. The flaming creature determined to drag her to whatever abyss it was that this thing came from.

Becoming more and more visible by the second Enzo saw that this monster was likely to bring about the guard. Though this was true it also true she was running more from it then him. If that was true then it was likely her magic was not under her control. While deducing this reasonable out come he felt the girl pushing at him hacking up a lung. It was not always obvious to him that he was the only one who breathes ash. Seeing how this might be partially his fault he resigned himself to getting rid of the monster. Thought some blame rested on him the rest fell on the girls shoulders...one who can't control their power is controlled by that same power. His logic screamed that they would both deal with this so it was not likely he would run nor would he let her due so. Hearing his name did take him by surprise. She must have seen some thing while she was consumed by her power. "What I said before still stands run and I will kill you," Though he said it it was unlikely he would kill one so young. Though resistant to open flames due to his dark elf heritage and also because of his particular gift it was none of this mattered if these flames where magic based. Pushing past the girl the Enzo stood between the child and the beast of dark fire.

Lifting one hand up first to tilt his hat forward and down over his eyes, then to point to the twisting fel fire inferno. Green flame consuming the Bar people rushing around attempting to make their way to any exit they could find. Though he would be brave this time and pick a fight he had no idea how he would proceed against an opponent so...not human. With very little coming to mind he did the first thing that made sense to him. Fist balled tight the ash man stared down the monster it was most defiantly after the girl. It reached for her desperately as it partook of every thing in the establishment. Though he looked like the image of the malevolent marauder grizzled and dark, he quite enjoyed to play the hero from time to time."Life's forces...tainted by the flesh burn...All consuming Magic BURN!!!!" finishing the incantation he cast the curse hoping the monster was mostly magic based. If this was true then the curse would be devastating and this was his hope from there he could come up with some thing that just might work.

Not leaving any thing to chance the crimson eyed ash elf set one foot back. He appeared to be getting ready to move and quickly. Pushing off on his strong leg he cleared space between he and the creature. Grunting and grinding his razor sharp teeth he lunged forth bellowing thick clouds of black hot ash. A few steps from the best the man took hold of a chair not even waiting to see if the curse took effect he simply had to strike it down with what ever he had close to him. Just before swinging the chair Enzo with out looking back to the girl Enzo spoke his mind he had hoped she did not pile out with the rest of the humans within the establishment."Child I dun suppose you could use that powers of yurs to help stop ya monster here?" Things would be much faster that way he could fight it all night but it was more likely than not she could do much more then he could way faster. Gripping the chair with all his might he was upon the beast ready to swing...The fight was on....

To Yume's horror, the ashen man pushed past her and headed for the beast. She choked and coughed further still in the remains of the clouds of burning ash. She turned to watch him move closer to the beast. Amidst the cacophony of screams and crackling flames she could tell Enzo was speaking but could not hear him greatly over the others. All that Yume heard was "still...run...kill you." By his actions towards the beast, she could only guess that he was telling her to flee, for the beast was after her. That was clear enough to Yume; but she did not want to see another die in a vain attempt to protect her.

"Run away you fool!" She screamed but still he moved closer, the burning ash folloing him as he moved closer to the beast. Yume could not understand how even in that cloud of the creatures power, this stranger could advance on that nightmare. Yume's mind screamed at her to flee; but her conscience held her feet fast in place. His fate, it must be his fate, I saw the flames in his future, i have warned him twice, thee is nothing more i can do, I should not die trying to save someone who still chose to face his future. With those thoughts, her conscience freed her and Yume scrambled for the door. Bursting out of the tavern she bolted down the street knowing it was only a matter of time. As she turned down an alley, Yume dropped to her knees in the dirt and used her finger to begin drawing signs in the dirt. Her only hope was to find a way to protect herself until the city guards would arrive to vanquish it, if they could, or at least slow it till the sun rose to send it away. Careful not to tremble too much she tried her hardest to remember every mark and line, her fingers continuing to expand the markings they made in the dirt around her.

The nightmare moved ever onwards, one obstruction appeared in it's path. An obstacle it thought it had already dealt with as the flames spread further in the bar. The swell of magic came from the man and as it drew nearer; but it paid this no mind. The spell seemed to do nothing at first. However this was simply because, much as the fire spread when it mingled with the alcohol, the curse was mingling with the raw magic that created this beast, allowing it to from from nightmare to reality.

The beast backhanded the chair that was swung at it, and it's fire spread onto the flying splinters; but as it rasied a fist to return the strike, it let out a demonic screeching hiss and rared backwards. The black body wreathed in emerald flames seemed to swell rapidly and then it exploded in a burst of flames that filled the tavern, overflowing out the windows. To one outside, they would think that someone had been foolish enough to place a torch against the barrels in the storeroom.

The constant magical expenditure that supported the nightmares existance had amplified and agitated the curse to an incredible extent resulting in a catastrophic failure that ended it's existence.

As he brought the chair across his chest and toward the beast he saw it was no fool and it was just as ready to strike him down as he was to strike it down. The monster of flames and disaster brought its powerful arm down and smashed the chair to fiery chunks in his hands. Reeling back from the force of the blow and just the sheer amount of flames in the room. The ash man was left with palms full of flaming splinters and disastrous thought in mind. As he sat thinking things over amidst the green flame and force of the great dark nightmare in front of him he was completely unaware of its intention to strike him down. Regaining his footing and stumbling into place the the pale would be protector looked upon the ebon fist raising before him it was the most terrifying thing he had seen in a while. It appeared the beast had gone all and he had not the funds to go toe to toe with it. Bracing for impact he flinched up a bit only to see the beast had begun to wince in what looked like pain. This was not a sight he expected to see he had thought he was in the shit but his luck had won in the end. Events rarely went this well he thought to himself. Looking back the ash spewing warrior glanced around only to find the child had summoned the creature and then quickly exited the building. So much for a sense of honor human never stayed to fix their messes. Turning back the the beast Enzo's scarlet gaze widened what was happening now was not good.

Vanity...Greed...Wraith...Sloth...Lust...all deeds the man cloaked in monotone flowed from one of these sins. But this time Vanity had cost him a bit more then he had been willing to shovel out. This time he was in for it because he wanted to play the hero. The creature had begun to gain mass and size quickly...far to quickly to be expended in a way that would not result in an explosion. Throwing his hands in front of his face Enzo protected his money maker from harm. When the beast finally could take no more and released all of its magic in one shot, Enzo could see nothing but a bright green light followed by an intense Burning feeling. It was not normal to feel the sting of fire. Lifted into the Air and off his feet the fool hardy man of ash found himself in yet another situation he had created for himself from a bad choice. Wood smashed and engrossed in flames, Enoz sought to clear the bar and get out side safely some how. Doing his best stay as safe as possible safe in a completely unfathomably dangerous situation did not seem enough.

Clearing what was left of the bar in a mater of seconds the man of ash plunged through ever thing in his path. Smashing wood flying chairs there was nothing that could be done to prevent that and so he flew head first in to the storm. Bellowing even more ash as he was thrown rag doll style through a window into the street for all the spectators who had stayed to behold. Rolling a few feet the anguish of being shot through the air and on his ass apparent on his face. Facing the ground on hand and knee he stumbled with intent to get to his feet. The wicked child had ran out on him but he suspected ass much. It was not often he felt the urge to ring a neck for sake of neck ringing. This one on the other hand had cost him this night and more likely then not the next few nights. Kneeling now Enzo flicked a bit of flaming wood off his poncho before getting himself at least semi standing. Looking out and unto the crowd he searched finding the girl his priority but by now the little devil must have been miles away. Admiring her sense of honor he began to get himself situated. Ash breath dieing down he sought to pick up the pieces of this night of unequivocal failure.

Yume heard the explosion and froze in the middle of her work. Surely the beast of flames had brought down the structure and was now advancing on the mortals of the city in pursuit of her. Still, no one was screaming and running from the place; but rather towards it. She heard no screaming for several moments, and wondered how it was possible the monster had been slain so swiftly.

Yume waited a bit longer, in the dark ally which made her skin crawl to think of what horror could arise from such a place while she was alone and exposed. Yume still heard nothing and began to think how such a thing had been possible. Her second question being it Enzo had survived. Such an encounter was not something easily shaken off. She had foreseen him wreathed in flames, and then he was facing the beast.

If he is dead, it is his own fault. He was warned of his fate, and he charged to face it... perhaps it is better that way. This last thought was accompanied by the chilling image of his toothy smile as he had isued unspoken threats. Once agaon flashes of what that monster could have been hiding beneath his pponcho barraged her mind. However in the dark alley, there was little for her curse to resist. One second it was an image in her mind, the next second the creature swung and she barely stepped out of it's way.

One face with an overstretched smile and several rows of shark teeth, laughed maddly as it swung its claw like hands at Yume. The rubbery arms were like lashes and could reach for a good 6 feet. it loomed up at about seven feet high, but it's snakelike body bent in an arch so the face was only at 5 feet. The long black cloak draped over this black skinned demon with the green claws, eyes, and teeth, so far that it concealed whatever legs it might have perpetually beneath the folds. Yume loosed another scream and staggered backwards into the street. A second after she was in view of anyone looking that way, so too were the giant clawed hands on the end of the lash-like arms. The two appendages swinging for her in an attempt, it seemed, to kill this woman just as she had feared it might. Yume evaded the strikes barely, and screamed again hoping that someone would come to assist her. Morning was too far away for her to survive this without any aid.

Jarred to action by a scream Enzo like a few shot a glance in the direction it had come from. It had been the girl he had been looking for. She was just a danger magnet. Like most Dark Elves Enzo had at his disposal the crimson glare which allowed for unparalleled night vision, this meant it would not be hard to track the girl seeing how she was relatively close. Throwing his dominant leg back he prepared a sprinting stance. With a tilt of the hat and a signal of the hand he motioned for the humans to get out of the way. Tearing off the line The ash monger tore through the crowd pushing all to slow to move out the way. With another scream her position was locked she had to be back behind one of he buildings he had been running by. With a slide to the left he was in an alley way. Sadly he had missed the mark and gone to far. Though he was good he was not perfect and being the hero twice in one night was a bit beyond him. Quickly turning round he made his dash out only to see she was a few feet off from where he had turned. Smashing his face against his hand he wondered just how bad it looked when he heroically galloped into the alley like a fool.

With her in site now he intercept the beast that had ensnared her this time. Rhythmically rolling his shoulders and waving his hands Enzo summoned the same ash he created when angered to his hands. Having stopped in place a few feet Behind the girl Enzo began to speak he was quite thrilled to see that she might be getting ready to get her piece. He had gotten all kinds of jacked up when the explosion of her creature sent him from a standing position to a rolling position ending with him on his ass."Honestly I should probably let you die right here and collect my gold and your cards...but sadly I'm not that cruel...wench," With a sneer The seemed to retort to a plea for help that was never issued...But this was not a problem if he could keep her alive she could be useful at least for now he thought to him self."Your gonna ta want to put ya ingrateful head down close ya lids and dunn breath..." He said seeming to start to choke on something at the end.

Holding his throat with both hands a black glow could be seen deep within his gullet. Within a few seconds His posture was correct once more As he twisted his arm in Before pointing it out at his intended target. Exhaling a deep breath Enzo let lose a large serpentine black hot mist which first warped around his arm before getting into its firing position. Growing in size the creature began to slide back on his arm before shooting forward now the size of your average man. Enzo was not impressed with the make of this creature. The last one had so much more fire to it he thought to him self as he continued to spill forth the creature attached to him by means of his mouth. As long as the girl got down and stayed down she would be mostly protected from the hot ash spilling forth but On the inside Enzo did hope she got a bit of his flameless fire it was not like he did not think she deserved a little bit. Monster this time seemed very familiar but he had no idea where he had seen it before he also though as he continued to focus he wanted to fill the alley with as much Ash as possible with out harming the girl not to far from him.

This time, Yume heard Enzo, as he came charging. How he could possibly have survived, escaped her. She somewhat doubted, his statement of lack of cruelty; but at the same time his actions seemed to contradict her conceptions of this foreign being. His commands were not hard for Yume to follow, trapped at this point, her only option was to curl up shied her head with her arms and hope Enzo really could do what he thought he could.

She trembled in her defensive ball as the heat and smell of ash returned to the air around her. Yume's realized now, that this was not from the blazing demon; but her current rescuer. Yume could only fathom what kind of being could defeat that blazing horror, with more heat. She began to free one hand, aware that no matter how this fight ended, she was still in danger. Her hand began to mark the dirt, trying again to create her one defense. She coughed a few times and her eyes watered from the loose smoke and ash that made it beneath her hood.

The beast snapped it's sharklike jaws as the heat blasted it burning all around. Useing its tendril-like limbs the creature spun it's body as if it had no bones within, blasting the ash around with the gust of a whirlwind, then bringing the spinning to a sudden stop, body twisted like a wet rag being wrung out, it's two arms lashed outwards around the cloud attempting to strike at Enzo, who was keeping it from it's prey.

Ash spilling forth Enzo though he was in the clear. This was until the creature saw to end his reign of flameless heat. Whipping around in a quick circle created a means for the monster to stop the burning of his ash breath. . Seeing his attack Turned into a useless display of how long he could hold his breath the grey skinned man quickly stopped his assault. As the ash died down the creature of rubber glared a gleam of void at him. A creature straight from the abyss this one was, where did this girl pull these beast from Enzo wondered to him self for a moment. It had a look not of anger, not of hate, not even of purpose, it was simply madness. Through the ash and smoke Enzo could see the beast lashing out at him with grips of stretchable vindication. The beast had a means of both attack and defense with those arms.

Almost ignoring the girl on the ground in front of him Enzo prepaed to take this fight to the next level. Sliding one of his many knives down and out of his bracer of ebon cloth. Knife successfully in place Enzo Thought to himself about what would be the best place to land this knife. The beast had skin of rubber this could be quite bad for a simple stab placed on any particular place on its body. Seeing the Claw coming Enzo had only one choice. Sliding diagonally on the tip of his ebon boot Enzo avoided most of the claw. Sadly the explosion he was in this night also slowed him considerable. Glancing to his arm for a moment net Enzo saw blood but this did not matter the beast had wasted a shot. One more stretchable arm and he was in the clear. Though that plan could work if he was fast enough to dodge the next arm, it did not account for the lac of space in the alley way. Thinking on his toes Enzo Prepared to launch his next spell, the perception of the hawk was a gift his father bestowed on him. Letting two more knives slide out of his bracer on the other hand he prepared to bring the raw business to the creature of rubber.

Dashing as close the wall as possible Enzo was ready to What card he held in his hand.
Pulling on the shade around him the man of ash became inadvisable to the naked eye. As this began a shadowy copy formed on the same path he had been running on. Ripping out his blades at the same time as the double gave it's on coming farce some creditability with the feign of sound. With not more then about a second left half elf braced his legs and threw his his off knife hand into the air as if reaching for the sky. With a grimace and a grunt he launched himself into the Air with on purpose. Mean while the double began to center it's self and stray from the wall knifes out charging recklessly at its target. Now in striking range The nimble grey savage tossed two of his knifes at the beasts eyes, from his main hand leaving only one in his off hand. Seeing how it was all kinds of rubbery he had to find the right type of gambit with out showing every card in his hand. He would have to sit and 'call' for now and wait to see what the hand of fate drew next. So far the night laid out a cold deck and the ash filled contempt of one thief trying to make it big wasn't worth the the debt his life accumulated.

Now visible directly above the beast Enzo smiled he knew he had been assured some luck this time. He had hoped that by the time the beast figured out he had not been standing in front of it that his knife would find there targets. This would mean that the beast would have to look up to meet the knives eye to blade. But this tiny faction of his overall scheme had been completely dependent on the lofty hope that the beast was smart enough to figure out his copy was a fake and then look up to see him to slow to dodge the knives. Once again the man of monotone had place his fate in the hand s of lady luck in the hope that she was not a frivolous with his life as she had been in the past. She had a bad habit of treating the would be thief as if his very soul was superfluous...much to his dismay.

Whatever was going on beyond her, Yume was unaware. She had stayed, obediently, curled up shielding herself. She choked and coughed on the ash raining down around her from the whirlwind that had given it the updraft it needed to bother her more despite her protective hood. Yume's shield markings were ruined once more and she began to try to make them yet again. All the while, she was fighting back the fears coming to mind, of hearing Enzo scream a death rattle, and the beast then coming after her. Yume, inwardly, felt that it was only a matter of time; but still she tried to hope, feebly, for this to be a fear that did not come true.

The beast saw it's attacker charge, and it's arms lashed forwards to strike at it's wounded prey. The creature let loos another fit of insane laughter. The arms were avoided as it advanced; but on the return trip the struck at the diversion once more, unaware that this was a set up for the true attack. Sound from above called it's attention at the same moment it's arms would strike at the charging figure.

Working like a charm, the beast looked up in time to see it's vision filled with blades. Both were impaled and the horror shrieked in furious pain. It's tongue darted upwards out of it's mouth as elastic and powerful as one of it's arms, in a wild attempt to snatch it's enemy and pull them towards the shark-like mouth. The beast's left arm darted upwards to try to assist the tongue, while the left swung wildly down the alley towards the direction it had last seen the false Enzo. This beast was not dead yet; but it was weakened.

Still coming down Enzo Saw that the tongue of the beast was darting toward him This time he had little to no way to avoid this one for it was impossible to dodge an attack while in the air. Putting his arm to his hilt and the other to his scabbard Enzo Bellowed ash as he came down into the beast elastic like tasting apparatus he tore his sword from its sheath. Crimson Gaze locking onto his target he pain n attention to any thing else as he would often do. Though it was not the best trait he had some of the best tunnel vision any one had ever seen, he could look at an object hard enough that it would almost burst into flames. It did help him to hit the object he aimed for. There was no reason to hold back he would simply have to take the monsters tongue off. He had already taken its vision that was one sense down why not take another. This girl had better come in handy he thought to himself as he went to bring his sword up and across his chest. This he hoped would at least take the tongue out of the picture."RAAAAARRRRHHGGGGGGG!!!!!!!" He roared hoping to give himself a false boast of confidence. Even if it did not scare the beast it would make him feel better for the moment.

Though the tongue was out of the way he had already wasted his one escape plan he had no way to stop the other arm that was coming at him. That was going to be his fate he would take this arm if he had to but hey he had been hit with worse more nights then he could count. Still coming down he saw the grim grinned beast throw an arm down and out to the end of the alley around where he had placed his shadowy double. Seeing how the girl was down there and cowering like pup before the the blade. Rolling his eyes the ash man took the arm unto himself With one arm on the beasts arm he let loose a quick kick to try to get the arm to recoil or some thing that might help but that was unlikely. Whipping the hand on his scabbard down let fly two shinny jet daggers from his bracers, he had one plan in mind for this one. Seeing how the arm had been going the same way as the girl he threw the blades to catch the massive mawed beasts attention. He wanted to keep the focus on himself for as long as possible seeing how the monster could see this gave her a chance to get some saftey. He hoped though that she did not run for if she did she might create another one of these and that just simply would not fly. The next one was on her head he had been heroric to much for one night and it was beginning to piss him off.
