Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Chase groaned. Her stomach hurt, her hooves were killing her, and she had sticks stuck in her hair, and burrs in her fur. She had somehow managed to get out of the thick bushes surrounding the banks and now stood in a relatively shallow spot splashing her face with water. It was hot, sunny, and miserable outside today. But here in the cool water she felt fine. Except for the pain in her hooves, and in her arms. She had been running for what felt like days. More then days, weeks! Having been carried off to some random island, she'd been running back to this forest ever since. Having left her friend and traveled here alone.

She glanced around and looked down the River. She was getting close, this was still to close to populated lands, but she would reach another Valley soon, and that would be her Valley, the Peaceful Valley of the Fauns. Where there were no predators, a large meadow in the middle, and there were dances every night, with music pouring out from every direction. She could almost smell the food cooking, vegetables of every kind, roots and herbs. Everything stewed, cooked, or eaten raw.

But Chase knew now that not everybody ate things like that. Some people ate the meat from creatures who she normally considered her friends. Like birds, and rabbits, sometimes even poor innocent deer. The thought almost made her sick again, for she had been sick when she found out what people did to animals. Her Valley was very sheltered and no one had even heard of dying from anything but old age. Blood was a mystery to them, and pain was a thing of the past. Knowing all of this now she knew she wouldn't tell them. She wouldn't ruin the life of her herd. But she needed to be back home. To know there was a place where the world didn't center around death and destruction.

She only had to follow this River, climb a few more valley hills and she'd be home, home to her meadow, and her tent. To her mother and Father, to the place where there was only love and not hate. She smiled and sat down in the water, her tail flowing past her and waving in the current. She started to pluck burrs out of her the fur on her legs, and using a rock she pushed dirt from her hooves, having left her bag on the shore. Smiling she started to sing a soft song as she ran her fingers through her long black hair, getting twigs out of it, the ends of her hair touching the water, not like she cared much, it was much cooler sitting in the water then it was out under the sun of the valley. For the trees were farther apart down here and let in a lot of heat, and even in the dense forest, all the trees did was trap the heat in. Not cool it down. Sighing she sat like that for a while, combing through her hair with her fingers and humming.

The sky was clear, it was such a good day for flying. There were hardly any clouds, and the sun was not scorching hot. Things felt good, especially after his fight with Drake, which really was a mistake. So with that in mind, Shien-Zen soared through the air. There were some curves in his face, he was not necessarily angry, and he hoped, because of that, his father would not decide to drop down from above and kill him. He tried his very hardest to keep his mind off of that, but one could tell there was something on his mind if they looked at him close enough.

When his face was not masked with anger, it was somewhat easy to see how he was feeling. He seemed to have upset Freya, which was another thing that was just on his mind. Furthermore, he wondered if the innocent Faun was okay. She seemed to want to fight his father, and he knew if she said the wrong thing, then she could possibly die. If that happened, he would consider it to be his own fault, not his fathers. Cause he was the one who decided to stray from his fathers teachings.

When he looked down, he saw Chase sitting in the Valley. Great, maybe he can apologize for waking up and leaving her the way he did. When he woke up after the beating and Chase was next to him, he immediately left the area, cause he felt he had to be angry and could not have friends. He had yet to clean his wings, and he was still a little scuffed up in certain areas from Drake's fight. But still, he landed in front of Chase, looking at her plainly. He cleared his throat to get her attention.

"..Ummm, hello. Are you okay?"

Chase was humming softly still when suddenly something passed above her. Looking up she saw a shadow, and then standing right in front of her was Shien. "OH! Shien!" She said jumping to her feet and hugging him. She hugged him around the leg and looked up at him. "Where did you disappear off to that day?" She asked looking a little sad, but extremely happy to see him.

"Oh and yeah I'm fine!" She said giggling. "I got burrs in my fur and was trying to get them out along with the sticks and stuff in my hair." She giggled. Looking up at him she beamed. It had been a few days since then, and she had run into Drake, who had been devastated about his Vampire friend who appeared to have lost her mind. She had had to play him songs to help bring him back from the brink of total despair. Stepping back away from him her hooves played around on the rocky bottom of the river, where it was a shallow pass. "I haven't seen you for so long!" She grinned.

Looking as happy as she could ever look at the site of her friend she winced and bent down, pulling a burr from her fur again. "You have no idea how much these hurt." She said with a huff. "They pull on my skin and itch and hurt." She said shaking her head but still looking as happy as ever. She was just glowing with happiness, sure she was pretty much soaked, but the sun hit that water and made her shine.

Ah, she was still happy to see him, which meant that they were still friends. Her hug was nice and warm, and he reached down, resting a hand on top of her head. Her smile made him want to smile a little as well, but all of the other things that were on his mind held that smile back, and kept it from appearing on his face. He sighed to himself when she asked him where he disappeared to. The seraph sighed heavily, pondering the best way to answer her question.

He was sure she knew nothing of violence, so if he told her he got into a fight, he knew she'd be hurt, and that was the last thing that he wanted to do. But it might have been obvious since his wings still had blood on them. He quickly pulled them in, tightening them behind his back as to try to hide it.

"Well..you heard my father. I am not allowed to have friends, nor have any emotion besides anger. So by me talking to you and spending time with you this way, I am directly disobeying his orders..it is why I left."

Chase looked up at him a little confused as he talked about not talking to her. "But..you're talking to me right now aren't you?" She asked watching him. She had to admit, he sure was tall. Smiling at him she noticed that he STILL didn't smile. It made her feel bad, to think that someone couldn't smile. To think that someone had been through that much. She kept on smiling though. "Hey Shien-Zen." She said casually as she plucked another burr from her fur. "Have you ever tried..just, not thinking about bad stuff?" She asked slowly. "When I mean not thinking I mean like, just force it to the back of you're mind, put it on hold?"

She kept her eyes on her fur though, picking out the little hooks that like to stay in the fur even after the main part of the burr was gone. She kept her glance down for a long moment, letting the only sound that came between them the rushing of the water around their feet, the wind in the grass around them, and the chirping of birds in the distance. Raising her head to look up at him finally she was blushing. A new emotion she had found out also. Humiliation. It had come out when she was traveling, the feeling of being embarrassed.

It was something new for her, and she was feeling more and more human all the time. Though of course she was still very innocent to the world around her, she was learning more and more. "So.." She said casually. "I've learned some more thing since I last saw you." She said picking her words carefully. "I was told a lot actually." She started to comb through her hair again, pulling out twigs and leaves. "Like.. people eat meat, and, kill for fun, and about Vampires." She said staring at the water in front of her. Drake had been so hurt after telling her these things, and even though she had thrown up after hearing it, and she had forced Drake to tell her, he had seemed devastated for her to know the truth. In fact, he had YELLED it to her. About blood, and falling, and death. She shook her head silently before letting her eyes wander up to Shien-Zen's face.

"Yes, I am talking to you now..because, well, I was inspired..to defy him. I was inspired by a friend that I need to be my own person, and not someone else' slave, which is what I am to him, in essence." As he leaned back against the tree, his wings relaxed, and she could have possibly noticed them. "Just a slave, just someone who is to do what they are told. Not a son, not even a..friend. From what I know, a father does not treat his son the way he treats me." He looked at her when she posed the question. "Chase, the more time you spend here, the quicker you will learn that bad is what makes the world go.." He looked at her, and noticed she was blushing. "Round." But why?!

He listened to her explain that she was developing humiliation, and listened to her tell him what she was learning. He gave her a somewhat sharp look when she told him that people kill for fun, and about vampires. His head nodded twice to both the statements of eating meat and kill for fun.

"Yes, Chase..there are many evil people. My question to you though, is, who told you such? Who told you these things?"

Chase looked away from him, her cheeks still pink. He asked her who told her this. But did she want to tell him? Drake had told her it, but.. what if Shien-Zen got at Drake. She didn't know why he would, but... knowing Shien-Zen he would. "Well... does it matter?" She asked slowly staring at her reflection in the water. It was rippling and didn't look quite like it should. Smiling though she glanced up at him. Living outside of her valley, had changed Chase. She noticed things more. Like plants dying, and people around her. She had used to just accept life and know it was good, except for her need to know more. But now she wanted to learn everything she could.

"Shien-Zen." She said slowly glancing up at him and then back at the water running her fingers through her hair some more. "I've learned a lot just by looking around, the world acts differently in my Valley, there is no Death, people don't even know what blood is, they just know they have it in their bodies, and that they need it." She said shaking her head slowly. "They don't know what Death is, and I'm going to walk in with all this knowledge, and well, it scares me to see them again."She said softly. "Would you.. come with me?" She asked slowly looking up at him. "It would make me feel better."

"Yes, it matters." He did not want the faun to be tainted or have her views be warped by anybody of the wrong alignment. But it looks like, it might possibly be too late anyway, and she did not seem to want to tell him. He would usually continue to pry for an answer, but he felt that would upset her if he did that, and he did not want to upset one of the only friends..that he still had.

She asked him to come with her to the valley, he was a little uneasy about this. He still was not completely stable, and was sure the inhabitants would look at him weirdly, him being the first angel they would have ever seen. They probably would even go to the extent of being frightened by his presence. And his wings..they were still stained! He could not expose the innocent villagers to such.

"I think it would be best if I do not, Chase. No offense to you, it is just..they have never seen an angel before. Also, what if my father decides to drop by again while I am at your village? The results would be..catastrophic. He would kill me in front of everybody."

Chase stared at him when he said that it did matter. "Fine.. I erm.. I wad told by Drake." She said quickly and stared at her hooves in the water. The sun felt warm on her back and she was already getting dry. Staring at the pebbles around her feet she kicked at one under the water. "But I told him to, so it's not his fault!" She said looking up at Shien-Zen pleadingly. He had to understand that she had practically FORCED Drake to tell her. She felt horrible for it, but she had. Staring at Shien-Zen she felt her gaze go back down to her feet.

"I understand." She said about him not going to her village. "I feel so awkward now though." She said softly. "You know, I know more then anyone else in the village, they've never seen death or destruction, in fact I haven't either, but I know it exists." She said slowly. "That alone is enough for me be different then them." She said slowly. "It's odd though, because even while I've been out of the Valley, I have yet to be hurt, sure I've been scared, but no one has hurt me." She said shrugging. "I don't really get it, the world must not be THAT bad after all then right?" She asked and then looked down at her hooves again.

"Anyway, I was just taking a rest, I've been running for days."She said softly. "It really has been days.. I eat when I can, sleep when I have to, but mostly I just run." She said shaking her head silently. "I'm so tired, I've never been so tired in my life, even during the big festivals we have every year, where I dance nonstop for two days straight, I'm always happy afterward, not tired. Never tired." She shook her head and sighed. "Anyway, Want to stay the night with me then?" She asekd looking up at him hopefully.

Drake? ..Drake..Drake. His name echoed in his head. "Drake.." He closed his eyes, as he recalled the events that lead him to where he was. The whole fight played very quickly in his mind, everything up until the point where Drake fell in front of him and he declared victory. As soon as Drake fell, his eyes popped open, and he looked over to Chase..it was then their eyes met.

"When my father beat me, and told me how he felt," Shien-Zen said, making sure to continue to look in her eyes as he spoke. "I..went on a small rampage. There was a thief who I saw while traveling over a city, and I went overboard and broke his body. I am not sure if he survived or not, but he was just a lowly thief. He did not deserve such a fate.." He looked away for a second, and then back to her. "And while I was in the desert, Drake attacked me accidentally..and I may have.." He gulped as he said this, he knew that Chase would be upset. "Possibly killed him."

Chase stared him in the eyes silently as he talked about the lowly thief he has possibly killed. And then about Drake. Her hand flew to her mouth as she stared at him. "Where is he?" She demanded stomping her hoof in the water, making it splash up around her stomach and make that wet too. "If he might be dead we have to help him!" She said looking around frantically for her bag. Drake was her friend, and if he was hurt she would do anything within her power to help him.

She ran to her bag the water splashing up to her armpit and grabbed her bag. "What are you just standing there for?!" She said frantically her hands shaking as she closed up the bag. "We have to find him! We have to help him!" She said looking around and slinging her bag over her shoulder. "Shien-Zen.." She said taking a deep breath and calming herself down. "Where were you when this happened?!" She said staring at him hard, showing her loyalty to her friend, true and true. "He is my friend, YOU are my friend! We have to help him." She said her hair falling into her face and she didn't bother to push it back.

The reaction Chase produced was very predictable, she was such a caring person, and knowing this, he sighed. Maybe he should not have told her, but it is not like he had a choice. As an angel, he was obligated to tell the truth, or suffer the consequences. Her stomp to the ground signified that she was indeed a little upset with the fact that Drake may possibly be dead. But that is what friends or for, right?

Inside, Shien-Zen was also a little worried about Drake. He owed Drake another apology for his actions..all of this because of his father and his teachings. If only Shien-Zen knew that Tatsu-Zen was wrong, then he'd know for sure that he could disobey him, and possibly even punish Tatsu. He would not have to take such beatings anymore..but, that simply is not the case.

And to make things worse, he did not know exactly where Drake was. How could he know, when Freya quickly took him someplace and did not tell him? And..how could he tel Chase this without her getting mad at him. But again, he had no choice. He sighed as he began to speak.

"Chase..a woman took him away someplace, and I do not know where they went."

Chase stared at him her eyes wide. "A lady took him away?" She whispered staring at him silently the bag on her back. "I..really?" She whispered looking a bit uncertain. She let the bag fall back onto the shore line and she walked back out into the water to him. "But if it as an accident."She said slowly looking up at him with big green eyes. "Then you didn't mean to hurt him so badly, even if you were angry, you weren't thinking straight." She whispered the initial shock of Drake being hurt gone. "I'm sorry I got angry."She said hugging him around the side, her hands unable to make it to the other side of him. She looked up at him with a smile.

"As long as Drake is ok, then... I need to keep going on my way home." She said slowly glancing down the river. "I'm close, so I can't just give up now." She said shaking her head. "I would persue Drake, just to make sure he's ok, but.." She shook her head sadly and looked up at him. Unable to say anything else she slowly walked back to her bag and picked it up. "Now that I'm clean of burrs and stuff, I really, well I should be going." She said softly. She looked up at him and smiled softly. "Shien-Zen.. thank you for telling me." She said bowing her head to him. "I hope to see you again sometime in the near future ok? Find me! I really like talking to you."She said walking to him and giving him another hug, keeping this hug longer then the last one.

Smiling she let him go and hoisted her bag up against her back. "I'll probably be back around here sometime, if not, look me up in Madrid ok? Or maybe even if you find my valley, I might be there, though I don't plan on staying there long." She smiled and bowed her head to him. "I'm sorry I have to leave so quickly, but, I'm so close to home I can almost taste it and I.. well I'm sorry." She said looking ashamed at her early departure. She felt her cheeks flush pink and she gripped the straps of her bag more securely. "Sorry."She said softly and waited for him to say something.

Chase was so nice and such an understanding person. He nodded to her when she confirmed that a lady took Drake away. As strange as it was, it was the truth. But from what he knew about Freya, he was sure that she would take care of him, if he was still alive. "No..I did not. I could not control myself. I let my rage get the best of me." He said this as she hugged him, and his arms moved to gently hug her back. "I do not deserve your apology. You have every right to be upset with me."

It was true. What normal person could not be upset with Shien-Zen after he hurt their friend? The more he thought about it, the more upset he felt with himself. Again, he could feel the anger within himself rising, and his face tightened just a little as a result. No, not again..he would NOT let her see him angry, especially when she did not deserve it! He had to do something about this sometime soon, but what could he do?! The more he thought about how he should have listened to Drake's apology, the more angry he became with himself! Did his anger have no limits?

"Yes. I will look for you. Good luck with everything." His words had just the slightest tiniest bit of anger within them. He nodded to her, standing up and rising high into the air. At the same time, he was a bit saddened by the fact that he was forced to live his life and anger. For, he truly did not want to anymore.

Chase heard the emotion in his voice. She froze staring at him. She had never heard that before, well, maybe once before. And it was from Shien-Zen's father. "Shien.. are you, angry with me?" She asked staring at him flicking her tail nervously. Her mind reeled, what had she done to make him angry? Maybe he didn't like hugs! Then she thought back, he was angry a lot of the time. "Shien..." She said softly moving forward towards him. "Do you know what I do when I'm angry? To make it go away? I think of something peaceful, I focus my very being on that thing, say, a steam, or a waterfall, a rainbow!" She said staring at him sadly.

"After a while, the reason you're angry just seems stupid, pointless, and it goes away!"She said grinning up at him. "Yes, please.. come see me sometime." She said softly looking up at him. She put her hand on his knee slowly for a moment staring at it and then she looked up at him grinning. "I'll see ya later." She said grinning. She didn't make it a question, she made it a statement, she WOULD see him later! She would cross a hundred mountains in order to see her friend.

"Just... try not to beat yourself up to badly ok? I know it was an accident, and you do get angry a lot, but I love you for it."She said grinning as she hugged his leg for a moment before looking at the sky and shielding her eyes. "Well, I gotta get going Shien-Zen! Bye!" She called and spun around, running out of the water, and disappearing shortly into the tall grass of the valley.

She thought back to her friend, he seemed so angry all the time, it made her sad to know that someone could be angry like that so much. She wanted to do anything she could to help him. If she could, she would! Her mind spun to herbs she could use to help him relax, music she could play him that was calming and peaceful. But he had already shown her that music didn't phase him. It made her even sadder, to not know the joys of music... Sighing as she ran she glanced over her shoulder and smiled. She would see him again, and she would try her hardest to not make him angry!
