Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Drake looked at just the sign on the place and immediately wondered if it might not actually be better to go somewhere else. Then again, somewhere like this was the most likely to have information on bandits and stuff... And then yet again, he was likely to find that as soon as he asked where to find bandits, there were high odds that he'd find half the people in there were bandits, which would swarm him.

Drake shrugged. Why not? He'd probably at least be able to get out before he got killed. It wasn't like he really wanted to avoid a fight, pretty much the opposite... Though he'd really prefer to be outside and away from populated areas when it happened. He paused for a moment, his eyes closed, and then said "What the heck?" before he walked in. He still wasn't sure he wanted to be inside a place called "The Assassin's Poison" though, that seemed really... Wrong. Drake would never go to a place like that, or any tavern actually, unless he was looking for information... Which he sucked at gathering.

Drake's fears that he probably shouldn't go in proved true. The first thing he heard was a man saying "I slashed all of their jugulars, and then made them watch each other rapidly bleed to death. That raid was perfect, so much blood!" He looked over to where the words had come from. There was a man talking, who indeed didn't look like much more than a thug. The person he was talking to looked like he really wished he wasn't there, shaking in fear, looking pale and sweaty. Drake barely paid attention to that though. He was focusing on not striking down that man that had spoken right there... As he debated whether he should just leave or strike down that monster then and there.

Drake really, really wanted to destroy that bandit immediately, but he wasn't sure if he should. Would causing the entire place to erupt into a fight be worth it? He wasn't even sure if he could get away from everyone in there at once. His hands were shaking and slowly moving toward his swords, while his eyes had changed. The irises were now golden, with slit pupils that seemed almost like windows into endless flames. Drake was angry now...

Drium sat at the bar, hunched over an empty mug of ale, eyes narrowed as his left hand drummed the wooden bar impatiently. The bartender eyed him wearily for a long moment, drawing a cold cut of rust colored eyes in his direction. The mug was then casually slid forward, no words being necessary for the man to understand that he needed to refill it. As this happened, the demon’s furred ears twitched as he unintentionally eavesdropped on a conversation behind him. The story being told simply didn’t make sense and Drium couldn’t help but toss a glance over his shoulder to stare at the speaker for a long moment.

With a scoff he turned back to his now refilled mug, but not before passing his eyes over all who was in the bar. From he had seen thus far, just about everyone in this place was just some lousy poseur; hardly worth the cheap wooden chairs they were sitting in.

As time wore on and the only source of verbal chatter continued, Drium’s brow knotted as he quite literally cringed. The story was becoming more and more ridiculous with each passing second. There was no way in hell this guy was able to do even half the things he was spewing and what was worse was that the one whom he was talking to was just eating it up. He fist clenched around his mug as he considered burying his dagger in the guy’s throat just to shut him up and replace his chatter with the more soothing sounds of a person dying.

He sighed deeply, briefly closing his eyes before the door opened and he swung a quick gaze at the new patron. Unfamiliar to him, he gave the male a quick once over which was more habit than anything before smirking to himself at the look on his face. The guy hadn’t been there for more than a couple seconds and it was already clear to the demon that he, too, wanted to slaughter the speaker in his seat.

Without a word, he simply shook his head and returned to his drink, downing the rest of the mug while tilting his head back in a single swoop before just about slamming the thing back on the bar.

Drake's hands were right at his swords, about to strike down that creep when he heard the slamming noise of someone setting down a large mug way too quickly. Drake was startled and looked toward the sound... And then saw someone familiar. Those ears weren't easy to mistake...

Drake walked over to the empty seat next to Drium. "Hello Drium." he said calmly but coldly, his eyes still burning golden. "So, have you seen Valerie at all since the plains, or did you abandon her permanently rather than just when you pushed the fight with Shien-Zen?" Drake was still ever so slightly ticked off by that incident. He looked straight at the four-eared man, ignoring whatever else was happening by now.

With just the slightest of glazed eyes he looked at the newcomer when he sat down next to him. Drium made a confused face when the guy said his name, and tilted his head ever so slightly to the side as he stared at him intensely. He had never seen this person before and he was almost certain that his name wasn’t big enough yet to be floating about the seedy tavern rumor mill.

He hardly paid attention to the guy’s questioning about Valerie and the fight with Shien-Zen, so consumed he was with both finding out who this person was and getting another pint. With another quick glance and not so gentle push of his mug, he hinted to the tender for a refill which was once again hesitantly obliged.

Turning back to the golden eyes man, nearly glaring, he sneered. “Coming in here and knowing my name... Who the hell’re you?!” He barked in actually a fairly quiet voice, but one that also brimmed with intensity.

Drake blinked, but not more than casually, no surprise registered on his face at all. "I'd think you'd at least recognize the eyes if not anything else. After all, they were like this the whole time." Drake looked right into Drium's eyes with his glare, "Or are you afraid you'll recognize someone who tried to protect Valerie more than her so-called 'friend' did?"

Drake laughed. "If you still don't recognize me... Well, I'd show you, but I don't think that a dragon suddenly appearing in a tavern would go over that well." He then said, "In case it isn't completely obvious by now, I was the dragon there. Yes, I got taken down by Andromalius, but at least I tried to help Valerie, unlike you." Disgust was in his voice. "I have to wonder why she thought you were her friend, you were too obsessed with trying to kill Shien-Zen, who didn't even push the fight himself, to try and help her."

Drake then glanced away almost dismissively, as if to show that he didn't even consider Drium worth his time. He looked around, and noticed that most of the guys in here didn't even look tough. More like they were trying too hard to look tough. Even the "bandit" who he'd noticed when he first walked in. Drake got up, and said, "Maybe I should just leave. I'm not interested in alcohol, and I don't think anyone here is likely to have any information on anything." He started to get up.

Drium slid his once again full glass back in front of him, giving the bartender the slightest of nods. He wondered briefly how much of a tab he was running up, considering he had quite literally been there since early that morning. With the mug to his lips, he caught the guy’s words and when it dawned on him who he was, he stopped. Glossy eyes narrowed over the rim of his ale as he everything flooded back to him. No wonder this guy was acting so cold and knew his name and about the fight.

“Oh…. The dragon…” His voice was muffled by the presence of the mug, but audible nonetheless. Drium didn’t really know what to make of him being here now. He kind of expected the dragon to attack him, not that he could bring himself to care at the moment. Whatever happened, happened and he would simply go with the flow.

He listened to the dragon recount the fight and closed his eyes wearily, not caring to talk or think about the incident anymore. He made an annoyed humming sound as the dragon just kept going on and on… Did he not know that things would be a lot smoother if he just shut up and ordered a drink?

“She didn’t need help…” He murmured into his drink before setting it down and glaring at the dragon.

“If you assholes would just stop babying her, she’d finally be able to grow and not be such a wimp!”

He snorted before once more chugging the contents of the mug and nearly slamming it down. He sucked his teeth, still glaring at the dragon as he started to stand. “You think you’re friends?”

He laughed, one eye staring at the dragon man skeptically with a small grin upon his lips. “Bull… Pure bull! You and that winged idiot… You two don’t know a good thing when it stabs you in the face!”

Drium chuckled at that, lowering his head before looking up again. ”Despite what you think, I’m the best thing that vampire has going …

With a little work she can stand up to Andomaliouseses… Or whatever…. And won’t need… righteous… yous…”

He grumbled a bit, trailing off, eyes narrowing a little as he lost his train of thought.

Drake glared back at Drium, annoyed and disgusted. "Yes, I'm supposed to think that a drunk is the best thing for her." He scoffed, "I don't care what you call it, whether I know her well enough to be considered her 'friend' yet or not, I'd say you sure as hell aren't."

Drake then said in response to another of Drium's comments, "And I somewhat doubt that a 'good thing' would be stabbing me in the face. You know what, I have better things to do than try to debate with a drunk who's in denial, goodbye."

Suddenly, Drake heard the bartender say, "Yes, if you don't plan on buying a drink, then leave. Now." Drake looked over at him, and said "Was there any reason you felt the need to interrupt my leaving to ask me to leave?" The bartender just growled slightly. Drake rolled his eyes. Suddenly, he sensed something, and jumped to the side. He heard a voice, the same one that had been bragging about slaughter, say "I heard you say that you don't think anyone here can give information. What, do you think we're all stupid or something?"

Drake looked back around, and saw the man on an unstoppable charge right toward where Drake had just been, which Drium was on the other side of. Oh great... He had a feeling that everything was going to go crazy very quickly. As usual. He should have known he wasn't emerging from a place like this without a fight. Drake let out a sigh, which was barely audible over the clamor that had arisen behind him as well...

Uh-oh Drake thought, as he whirled around, not paying attention to what had happened to the other man. He had no idea what had actually happened, but the entire place had erupted into a brawl. He heard several people shouting about "No, I'm the toughest!" What, had some macho man contest erupted in the rest of the place while he was talking with Drium? He could have sworn the one guy was the only one talking earlier...

He only grunted in response to the guy’s words, motioning for the tender to refill his mug once more. Drium wasn’t actually drunk; tipsy yes, but not drunk. He just had a habit of getting too caught up in the act which caused him to behave much more inebriated than he actually was. He didn’t really know what to say to the dragon guy; he was hardly in the mood to argue. There had been way too many incidents in which he had to do something violent to someone lately and he didn’t really understand why.

The demon nodded in agreement to the bartender as he said something to the dragon. “Yeah! Drink or get out!” He added with a nod as he held the mug between his hands. Drium wasn’t really paying attention to the commotion that was beginning in the bar, only hearing bits and pieces of the random shouts and boasting that was going on.

Before he truly knew what was going on, the bar erupted into a fight. The focus seemed to be on the dragon guy as most of the people ignored Drium, who simply downed another drink. “See what happens when you’re an asshole?” He said offhandedly aimed at the dragon man as one guy tripped and fell against the bar beside him. Drium really wasn’t in the mood to fight and would do his best not to. Slowly he got up fro his seat, reaching over to snatch a bottle of liquor from behind the counter before moving away just in time to avoid being slammed into by two fighting men.

“Look what you did…” He jabbed the dragon in the back of the shoulder with his index finger. “You and your troublemaker friends…”

Drake ignored Drium's first comment. He was too busy dodging the pathetic man who had just recovered and charged at him again. As he dodged, he delivered a fierce punch to the back of the man's head, knocking him to the ground.

Then Drium made another comment, to which Drake replied, "I have nothing to do with most of this! Also, what friends?! I don't have any friends, Shien-Zen just left me behind without a word, I freely admit that I don't know Valerie well enough to call her a friend, and sure as hell no one in here is remotely close!"

Drake was ticked off. He dodged another drunk, but when he tried to punch he found that the guy had already tripped to the ground... And now his fist was heading toward Drium. Oops? Not like he hadn't been tempted to smack Drium anyway, he just hadn't thought it would be worth it.

His half-lidded eyes fell with the man who the dragon at hit, watching as he hit the ground and ceased movement. The demon gasped. “You killed him!” He yelled, surprise and sadness in his tone. “How… You… He was so young!” Whether or not the guy was actually dead or not, the demon did not know. He was likely just unconscious, but Drium played it up regardless in his current state, falling to the ground and embracing the guy as he made exaggerated weeping noise, slowly rocking the body back and forth.

“Oh look.” The dramatic sadness that been in his voice vanished without a trace as something more interesting grabbed his attention. The man’s pouch of coins had fallen out of his pocket when Drium had moved him and the sight of it made the demon drop the body without a second thought. The man’s head smacked against the ground as the thief sprawled himself out to pick up the loose container, the action causing several people to trip over his legs. “His spirit must be rewarding me! Yay!”

Drium hadn’t heard a word the dragon said and he jumped to his feet once securing his treasure. The sudden movement had him clearly off balance and he staggered before catching himself on a chair. His eyes kept narrowing and opening as if he had trouble seeing, though he really didn’t, the action being force of habit.

“Oh hay!” He called when the man the dragon had dodged came tripping towards him while the demon held his arms out as if to embrace the guy. The thrown punch had missed, narrowly avoiding the purple haired one’s cheek due to his continued swaying. Instead the man just fell into Drium and the two of them collapsed on the floor, much to the demon’s amusement.

He laughed whole heartily as the guy scrambled to get off of him, not taking even the smallest bit of interest in the seemingly drunk demon. Again, the same guy went after Drake, throwing a punch towards the back of his head.

While this is going on, Drium began crawling along the ground, avoiding most of the commotion by sheer luck as he moved from place to place. After traversing the entire bar, he ended up back to where the dragon was fighting and crouched under a table to watch the flurry of legs.

The sight was disorienting and he frowned before suddenly reaching out to wrap his arms around the legs of the dragon. “Sit with me.” He said while pulling in an attempt to pull Drake under the table. ”We should all sit together ya know. Because.”

Drake somehow managed to notice Drium's antics while he was busy trying to dodge the drunks, and their almost painful reek of alcohol, who seemed to think he looked like a nice target. Maybe because he was a large target. Regardless, Drake's thoughts on what the demon was doing pretty much amounted to What the hell?!

Drake managed to dodge the punch that was thrown at him from behind, but only because of a punch that came at him from the front. Both of the men involved punched each other full on in the face and slumped to the ground. Of course, then Drake managed to be hit by a man flying into him from across the room. Oh great... Drake thought, finding this extremely annoying.

Drake found himself pinned to the ground, with the guy that had been thrown onto him seeming completely limp. "Poor guy." Drake remarked dryly, as he flung the limp drunk off of him. He crashed onto a nearby table, which still had several mugs sitting on it, which shattered when the guy landed. Ouch! That had to hurt.

Drake ended up being hit by another drunk, and his head was spinning slightly when he felt his legs being pulled under the table he was standing next to. During this, he heard Drium's voice... Oh yay.

Drake's head managed to stop spinning several seconds after he'd gotten down there. He looked toward Drium, slightly suspicious, 'What do you want me down here for, away from the fighting? Just need a companion, or want to fight me yourself? Or-" Drake didn't have time to think of another sarcastic comment, as the table was flung up from above them... And under Drake. He happened to be laying on one of the supporting things that kept the table from falling... It didn't seem to do a very good job in midair.

Drake landed across the room with the table, and shook his head, before trying to get up, and finding a wall of thugs charging right at him. Including one that he could have sworn he knocked out already, right at the lead... And from the distance he'd been thrown, he would have sworn that these morons seemed to be a thousand times stronger than he would have thought they'd be when a brawl came up.

The demon didn’t hear anything that Drake was saying to him when he appeared under the table. He wasn’t really paying much attention to the man and just stared at him blankly as he spoke, every few seconds starting to go cross-eyed. When the table was suddenly flipped over, he jumped, eyes going wild before beginning to laugh at the thrill of being startled while gazing at Drake as flew across the room.

He watched intently, grinning stupidly while sitting cross-legged on the ground as the group of men rushed Drake. He laughed lightly to himself as a thought suddenly popped into his head. “I help!” He called out to no one in particular as he focused ever so slightly on everyone within the tavern.

The frenzied whispers then began, spreading quite loudly to the minds of all of the fighters in the building and Drake himself. Knowing things were working, he smiled to himself, the whispers in each of the men’s minds focusing on the others. The men stopped rushing towards each other, slowing down to a standstill as a strange look came into each of their eyes. By now Drium was quite literally laughing himself to tears at what he knew what was coming.

Without any pretense groups of two and three men embraced and locked lips in feverish open mouth kisses, unable to resist the strong call of lust that was invading and overriding their thought processes. Whether or not Drake himself was affected the demon didn’t know, too caught up with holding his sides as he rolled on his back, laughing loudly.

As this was happening to him, one of the largest men in the tavern other than Drake began to approach the dragon in human form. The same look in the lust-stricken eyes of the rest was clear in this one’s as well and he went to grab at the dragon, his intentions anything but pure.

Drake heard Drium shout something about "I help!" Then, that little part of his brain that liked to annoy him started going crazy. Very crazy. Drake was able to resist it easily, the things it was whispering disgusted him utterly. It was just so... freaking... ANNOYING!!!! And then, all of the men stopped charging. Then... Un-freaking-believable! Apparently they were all hearing it... Drake had no doubt Drium somehow had something to do with it, especially since he was laughing his head off.

Drake found it less than funny, as a man was coming toward him with a crazed look in his eyes. Drake simply said "Yeah... No." Alright, he didn't think it could make things much weirder, so... There was a flash of light, and Drake flew up into the air, out of reach of the crazed men. Drake looked down toward Drium, and said just to him, sounding slightly annoyed, Having fun are you?

The scene that was going on before him had the demon literally rolling with laughter. The sight of the men, who prided themselves on their intimidation factor acting so overly affectionate with one another and become a lot closer than they would have ever liked to be, was the funniest thing he had ever seen. Tears tugged at the corners of his eyes as he held his sides, every now and then having to take gasping gulps of air.

He didn’t even notice at first that the dragon had been immune to the effect and resisted being taken in by the whispering temptation of lust. After getting his fill of laughter, he sighed, staring up at the ceiling and catching his breath, a wide smile on his face. Every so often he’d shake with a loose chuckle before he sat up, his legs sprawled out in front of him, eyes now roaming the inside of the tavern. The men were still going at it, getting a bit hot and heavy which was a sight that in and of itself wasn’t all that funny to the demon. The sight of the dragon creature in the air above him made him raise his eyebrows.

Drake was looking at him and Drium still had a wide grin on his face. He looked up at Drake and used the back of his hand to wipe his eyes.

“Aren’t you?” He asked, clearly more sober now.

Drake couldn't believe the grin the demon had. And then the response he got. Drake responded, sounding a bit annoyed again, No. That guy grabbing for me was... No. And... He glanced around a bit, and then sorely wished he hadn't. His eyes snapped shut, and just how much he thought the situation was disgusting and... Disturbing, was clear in his voice. Actually, there isn't much else to say, except... Ew. I... I'm leaving now.

If Drake hadn't already been green, due to being in dragon form, he probably would have been now. He really didn't want to be in here... He just flew out the door, thinking Well... That went nowhere. Except crazytown... He kind of wished he hadn't gone in at all. Maybe it would be a good idea to go somewhere else... Somewhere far, far away. Drake looked back at the place, and thought about torching it... No, that would definitely be going a bit too far, regardless of how disgusting most of its patrons were... But he would not be going back there any time soon.

“That was hilarious!” He responded happily to Drake’s plight while standing up and beginning to stretch his arms above his head. One look around the tavern and he too decided it was time to go; the men no longer being amusing and now just being disturbing. He looked at Drake and shook his head, noting that the dragon had no sense of humor. “Good thing you didn’t fall for that.” He said offhandedly while easing himself towards the door being careful to avoid touching anyone who was in the way.

The demon would let the influence of lust linger within the building until it died down, but he had no desire to sit there and watch its effects. “Yeah…” He muttered, mostly to himself at the dragon’s statement. It was then that Drake went for the door and vanished and Drium followed suit, but not before snatching up a bottle of alcohol. Slipping outside into the cool air, Drium saw Drake looking back, and he sneered at him before taking a swig of his drink.

Drake saw as Drium came out, holding a bottle of... Well, something, Drake couldn't tell what it was from here. Though the natural assumption was that it was something alcoholic, since it had clearly been taken from the tavern. Drake saw the demon give a little sneer, and felt a rather large amount of annoyance flared up.

Drake got an idea. While torching the whole place would be going too far... This certainly wouldn't be. Drake summoned a blade of wind, and then tossed it, aiming right for the bottle that Drium was drinking. Odds were, it would hit more than the bottle, probably hitting Drium's hand and causing a rather painful wound. The wind blade had nearly the force of an arrow after all, along its entire one-foot long length... Well, not this one. Drake actually had made this one less extreme, sending it at about half of the force he normally used. Still, it would probably sting.

Drake flew off, leaving Drium and the entire stupid tavern behind. Drake had an idle thought that he might have found the situation inside to be rather funny in the early stages of whatever Drium had done, if that one guy hadn't grabbed for him...

The demon was quite unprepared for the sudden wind attack that raced towards him. His mind was elsewhere, lost in thought, enjoying the moment and the night air. After only a nice swig or two of the warming elixir, his bottle shattered in his hand and something sharp cut his skin. He jumped back, surprised by the action, some of the glass nicking the palm of his hand. The thief was suddenly on the alert, eyes wide and searching for the attacker, body tense, feline ears roving, expecting the need to dodge something else.

It only took a split second before he turned an angry gaze on the now feeing dragon. Instinctively he started to give pursuit, but only made it five paces before calling it quits. Drium’s eyes narrowed while the dragon’s form vanished into the night air and once he couldn’t see him anymore he sucked his teeth before licking some of the spilled liquid off the back of his hand. ”Bastard…” He muttered while turning his gaze on the remains of what would’ve been his only companion for the evening.

For whatever reason, seeing the puddle there made him a lot more sad than angry and his face fell, ignoring the slight throbbing of his hand. That dragon was going to pay for that.
