SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

    Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

    Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

    Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

    Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

    Name – Ashes Ironheart
    Age – Currently Unknown, previously thought to be 17.
    Gender – Female
    Alignment – Chaotic/ Neutral

    Occupation –  Drug Courier/Amateur Street Performer
    Race – Mother: Human (Chaotic/Evil Dragon Shaman)/ Father: Vampire (Chaotic/ Neutral Shadowcaster)
    Weapons – Ashes has a battered wakazashi that she wears in a back sheath instead of at her hip. Its hilt is black and blue and it is wrapped in a ripped up green sash with burn marks. There is a red stone set into the hilt beside a blood groove. This stone will glow with the blade tastes blood, but she doesn't know this, as she usually just fills the groove with oil and sets it ablaze for her street performance. She uses its presence to dissuade muggers and attackers, but when it comes to fighting, she prefers her other weapon to her blade, simply because she has no formal training in actually fighting with it, just able to wield it in impressive but harmless displays of speed and dexterity.

    Her other weapon is a hold over from her life as a little girl living a gang life. It is a heavy brass horse shoe wrapped with long leather straps so she can wield it like a flail or simply hold it in order to heavy her fists.

    Pets – Tarot – a fire lizard, he appears to be a miniature dragon roughly the size of a large tom cat. They have four legs ending in clawed reptilian feet, ridges along his back, and small horns arching back like a gazelles. His tail is four feet long, able to be moved like a whip. The tip is also armed with backwards facing barbs for stabbing and ripping out. They move in a feline manner, shoulders rolling. He is also equip with two leather bat-like wings for flight. The membrane on these is coal gray, whereas the rest of his snakeish scales are black, with a gray underbelly. Ashes was searching the beach cliffs for sea gull eggs to eat when she was eleven. As she did so she found a nest full of broken glittering shells, embryos of half developed fire lizards laying half eaten throughout. One egg had apparently escaped the raid, though, wedged in a crevice too small for the predators to reach. She found her child's hands could reach in, though, and she took the egg with her down the cliff. Upon hatching, Tarot instantly was bound to her. He has human intelligence, it would seem, as he understands her completely. She can not converse however, since as of now she does not know she has the ability to do so, and this ability has not been developed.

    Physical Appearance – The first thing most people notice about Ashes is her hair, which is always a startlingly bright shade. She can change the color at will (see abilities) but typically it is pink, orange, blue or purple. These vibrant tresses hang down almost to her shoulders, though are always messy, sometimes tangled, or scattered with small braids, and other times brushed straight and smooth. Her eyes glare out, poisonous green, from a death-pale face. She seems healthy though, not gaunt faced or sunken eyed. She has a light spatter of freckles over the edge of a nose that has been broken, but well set so that only on close inspection can one notice the small bump and the scar across the bridge of her nose. She stands at a slight and lean 5'3”. Another fact about this odd girl is that she is not very well endowed, just enough to ensure she is obviously a female.

    Another thing that draws quite a bit of attention is the long crude scars that rip up her forearm, from wrist the elbow on the underside. These wounds, that look like a suicide attempt, should have been fatal but were not. She was found with these incisions, and since she lacks memory of anything before that, has no idea how or why she got them. Sometimes when she feels depressed these scars itch and burn, urging her to scratch them, sometimes drawing blood with her own nails. She often gets painted with henna, leaving temporary tattoos that make her appearance more interesting and hide her scars.

    She has a small black mark on her neck, over her pulse on the right side in the form of a small inverted cross, no bigger than the nail on one's pinky.

    Clothing – Ashes is anything but shy about her body, and it shows in the way she dresses. She detests sleeves, and prefers even to not have anything touching her shoulders, though this is tolerable. Her outfits range from tight bands that do little more than wrap around her slight chest to bustier and corsets without a shirt under them. She can go from loose sack cloth or harem pants slung low on her hips to small almost indecent wraps. Sometimes she dresses almost (ALMOST) normal, and other times she is garbed in belly dancer apparel. It all depends on what she feels like wearing. She does not dress in so little clothing because of the attention she gets from males, actually feeling disdain at being viewed the way her harlot friends are. Instead she does so because, as an acrobat, she hates anything that restricts, or seems to restrict, her range of motion.

    Disease – Ashes' affliction is unknown, and thus is without a known cure. Those she associates with have nicknamed it “Shatterglass Sickness” because it appears in the form of black cracks over her porcelain skin. These dark cracks in her flesh appear the way a mirror looks when struck by a fist or a rock. This illness has thus far claimed only her left upper arm, which is kept wrapped tightly in bandages however can rarely contain the substance that oozes from this unnatural breaks in her skin. The thin, shiny, sticky substance is probably the most daunting thing about Shatterglass Sickness, mostly because of the odd way it is regarded. All those who have seen it agree it is nothing sort a beautiful, inky black liquid elegance pouring down her arm or being cough up along with a decent amount of red life-blood.

    Personality – Ashes is a true tomboy, a real “tough cookie” as the harlots often describe her. Many say this is due to the fact she grew up on the streets, but does the cause really matter? The facts are that she is a hale and hardy girl, with a strong will and sense of self pride and preservation. This pride is one of the reasons she has yet to become a whore as most other street girls do, preferring instead to dazzle the crowd with her tricks in exchange for coins.

    Another of this girl's traits is that she will never back down in a fight, even if she is obviously out numbered. This is definitely due to her upbringing- if she backed down in the streets, she would've started long, long ago. She's a good actor as well, and can lie smoothly to protect herself and often times the illegal cargo she delivers in exchange for her room in the Inn with the harlots she calls her friends. Ashes may seem like all fire and brimstone, with a quick temper and sharp tongue, but she has a soft side as well, despite the barrier she puts up to make herself seem untouchable.
    One of very few glimpses of this is in the fact that Ashes has a ratty stuff animal in the form of a puppy. She has had it since an older child stole it for her in her youth. It is tattered, missing one button eye and covered in sloppy repair seams, but despite this, and her age, she still sleeps with it at night. She keeps this mostly a secret though and when brought up she will respond with angry embarrassment. She suffers also from depression and unexplainable suicidal tendencies that she suppresses along with most negative emotion. Because of this, she has also developed a strange disorder: When she is upset, or feels like crying, she will instead laugh, sometimes hysterically. This matching her mood swings leads many to believe she is in fact insane.

    History – To be posted soon, the skinny is: Ashes was found by a gang of street children when she was six, laying, bleeding on the beach. She has no memory of anything before, including her parents. When she was ten she witnessed guards beat her friends to death. When she was thirteen she was endeared to a few good hearted harlots that found her small street acts amusing. Their manager allows Ashes to keep a room in the tavern/inn they work out of in exchange for her use in supplying customers with drugs.

    First Five Abilities
    • Shadow Manipulation – simple- Ashes is learning from the master now, and her control over shadows has increased steadily. She can now use them to conceal herself and up to one other person. This cannot be maintained in direct sunlight but in fire light and magically created light it holds strong. She cannot yet make herself into a shadow, or for that matter maintain total control over her own which runs off constantly, as if having developed a mind of its own. She is learning to shadow walk but this is dangerous, as she cannot yet control where she ends up. So she may shadow walk from her room, and end up in any random place. (Example: Shadow walk from her room and end up in a random house, in a child’s closet). This makes it valuable for a quick escape but utterly useless for travel. her ‘walking’ can only be used three times a day, four with rest.

    • Dragon Speake - simple– Ashes is half dragon shaman, though she doesn't know this, and has a natural affinity to dragons and draconic creatures. She has now developed the ability to communicate telepathically with these creatures, though the stress of the mental contact of more than two dragons for more than a few minutes is enough to make her pass out. This ability also includes fire-lizards, whose mental connection is less costly and thus she can maintain up to three connections with them easily, but maintaining anymore than this and she starts to feel fatigued and will pass out (the effect is not so severe as having too many connections with full grown dragons, as they are far more powerful and their overwhelming may take her from three to twenty four hours to wake, depending on severity. If fire-lizards are the cause of her pain she will pass out only for a half hour to an hour).


    • Chameleon- [simple] – Ashes has the uncanny ability to alter her appearance to a moderate level. Examples of this are an ability to change her hair and skin color, and minor other body type changes (I. E. face shape, bust size). This is useful because it allows her to make herself unrecognizable, but she does not yet have enough control to mimic someone else's appearance, or change her eye color.

    • Agility – Characterized by quickness, lightness, and ease of movement.

    • Performers Tricks (basic) – Ashes can perform basic street-performers tricks listed as follows: Fire breath (not the spell), basic card tricks, and showy acrobatics.

    • Death's Rejection - simple - Ashes can heal from fatal wounds unless a vital part of her anatomy is removed (Head, Heart, an arm torn off and she'd bleed to death, ect.) Thus far this power ONLY works when the wounds are SELF inflicted. The wounds MUST be life threatening. This ability would not work on magically inflicted wounds.

    • Simple Summon: Table of the Wicked – At will Ashes can summon a table to her vicinity, but not just any table! Andromalius' banquet table will appear to aid her, be it to have a place to sit and talk or to smash her foes under its awesome weight, It is also apparently a good place to to -ahem- other activities. (Like chess, or sleeping, you perverts!)

    • Rogue Shadow Twin – simple - Ashes' already rogue shadow may become a solid entity. It will seem like a completely pitch black copy of her with no color. Ashes has no control over it but it can be useful because, since they are the same person, they often share similar interests. It can not survive longer than five minutes in sunlight, and will sink back into the ground. It can last half an hour in torch or moonlight, it can last up to an hour in total darkness but any light-summoning spells will banish it back to the ground instantly.
