Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Valerie stared ahead of her. She couldn't believe she was here. Let alone in a dress. Usually she wore some men's pants. But now, she was in an elegant ball gown. Walking over the glass walkway to the party she could feel the stares. Her pale skin was enough to turn people's heads. Not to mention the purple gown she was in made her feel like a princess. Granted a Vampire princess, but still a princess. Valerie had changed. Once a clumsy, cute little girl, she was now a hard, cold woman. Her walk showed her pride at being a vampire. Her feet moved with confidence, her face silent and staring.

Valerie felt the gazes from around her but ignored them. She wasn't here to eat, she was here to have a good time. And if she couldn't have that....well, there were other Vampires there too, and they seemed to have pulled themselves into the crowd quite nicely. After the initial shock of seeing the vampire the guests turned around and went back to talking. Smirking she stood in a corner. Her hair had been curled somehow and lay in tendrils down her shoulders and back. Glancing around the room she let out a soft sigh.

No longer the girl she once was, people were afraid to walk to near her. Sitting down carefully so as not to hurt this beautiful dress she watched the people dance. Having a good time, drinking. She sighed and looked around at the room. Beautiful, exotic. She let out another low sigh and sat there. Waiting for something to happen.

Ninshi the Swordmaster

Ninshi opened the front door to the ball. It was weird that he was here, no date or anything. He just showed up..hoping that maybe there would be someone else who did not have a date, and then he would make her his date. That was the plan, anyway. Instead of his usual white pants, sandals, robe, and samurai hate, he had on a black tuxedo. He picked it up on the way to the ball.

There was a flower head that sat in his jacket pocket. The scent it gave off was pleasing to the nose, and the shape of it was pleasing to the eyes. He tapped the toe of his shoe on the ground, looking down at himself. He had never actually attempted to dress 'spiffy', and he actually liked it. However, he never went anyplace without his best friends..his two katana. One was strapped to his back, and the other was on his side. Yeah, it looked a little weird, but oh well. He also had his hat painted black just for the occasion. His white hair would ruin the look of his outfit.

"Well..here I am.."

Valerie looked up and felt as though her heart, had she had one, was going to burst. He had just walked in. Hadn't seen her yet, but he was here. She stood up quickly, her dress ruffling around her. She cast her eyes to the ground to make sure there was nothing to trip on and stole out of the corner. He had walked in, and now...now she was going to have to avoid him all night. Except her feet didn't take her away from him. She was almost positive her whole body and voice didn't look like the old Valerie. This was a new woman, and she wanted to try it out. She knew she looked like a vampire, but she also knew she didn't look like Valerie, her crazy hair having been straightened and curled again. The dress wasn't anything Valerie would wear. She walked slowly and then walked right by him, "Accidentally" Dropping her handkerchief at his feet. She let out a soft gasp and bent to pick it up. "I'm sorry."She said letting her eyes travel up his attire, to slowly reach his face.

Ninshi the Swordmaster

He just made it a few steps into the ball, his eyes traveling to scan all of the people there. There was another woman who stood at the other side of the ball, and like the rose he wore on his jacket, the woman was pleasing to the eye. He did not even notice Valerie as he made his way toward her, but then she dropped the handkerchief on his foot. He looked down at it, and then tot he woman who dropped it..who was Valerie.

At first he did not notice her..she hurt him so bad before, and he was trying to forget who she was..but when his eyes traced the hand that picked up the handkerchief to the her face, her eyes and features were the same. Except she was all pressed up and everything now. It was her, it was Valerie..the one who broke his heart. A rush of emotions rand through him, and he wasn't quite sure what to do.

Would he attack her? Curse her out? ...His eyes remained blank when hers met with his..the night just took an unexpected turn.

Valerie gasped slightly and backed up a few steps. "Ni..Ninshi?"She whispered looking at him. She watched him carefully. "I..I..can I talk to you?"She whispered her eyes on his. "I..I really need to."She said keeping her eyes on his. He had recognized her. Well maybe because it was Ninshi. He seemed to have memorized her face. Because no matter what else she changed, her hair, her clothes, her face was the same. Pale, and still Valerie. Framed by elegant locks. "I just...need to."She said and slowly reached out with a gloved hand to touch his arm. She brought her hand back quickly though. Even in the glove her hand was cold. Icy, he probably didn't want to talk to her anyway. Which she would understand..after she had her say in things first.

She said his name..yes, he was sure now this was Valerie..the one who took his heart and ate it..the one who took his heart, and grinded it..the one who abandoned him to leave with someone more evil..more malicious. His eyes watered up a little bit, and he wiped his face with the back of his hand, looking down at the floor.

All he could remember was walking away from her and Drium..but when she asked to speak to him, all of his anger and hurt..he had to hide it. He was a very soft guy when he wasn't fighting with his katanas. He looked at her, nodding. "Sure.."

Valerie nodded and smiled slightly. She turned slowly and led the way across the room back to the secluded corner she had had before. She stood there, her hands clasped in front of her her eyes to the floor. "I didn't.."She began but stopped and then tried again. "I didn't mean...I didn't want to hurt you Ninshi."She whispered keeping her eyes to the floor. "I didn't know..that it would tear you up so bad, I..I learned how to become a Vampire, look at me Ninshi!"She said looking up at him her face gave. "I'm beautiful! I look like a Vampire. I feel like a vampire!"She said staring at him her voice wavering on her last sentence. She put her hand up to her mouth and took a deep breath. "I don't kill to be evil...I never will..Drium is not evil."She said shaking her head. "He taught me..to survive, but more than that, he taught me how to LIVE!"She said letting her eyes drop to the floor again.

He listened to her plea, and he heard her apology. Everything she was saying, everything was making sense..and he understood her. The way she spoke to him, he was willing to forgive her..until she messed up, and said something about Drium. His eyes were calm through everything else, and then they popped open.
"That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!" He clenched his fists at his sides. "Drium..not evil..you really have changed a lot." It was obvious he hated Drium..a lot. He was angry, and he didn't know why. He turned to the side, grinding his teeth.
"He's a foul demon..a ruthless demonic thief!"

Valerie knew she had slipped up. He seemed so willing to forgive her, then his eyes opened wide and he turned from her. She felt a sense of loss turning with him. She reached out and touched his hand. Her cold hand on his warm skin. "Does that make me evil then?"She whispered looking up at him. "He was my mentor..he taught me..and that is it."She whispered. "I know how to survive now..better yet, I can go longer without needing to eat, and still be around humans, I don't lose control anymore."She said her hand still touching the back of his hand softly, as though afraid to take hold of it.

"Everyday...everyday! I thought about you! I became a real vampire for you Ninshi."She whispered her eyes on his face, even though all she could see was the side of his face. "I wanted to be able to look at you, and not thirst for you're blood, to be able to pounce on you, and not almost kill you."She said staring at him her hand slowly closing around his. So slowly it was almost unnoticeable until she had a firm grip. She moved so she was in front of him now, still holding onto his hand. "Please..don't hate me."She whispered looking up at him her eyes full of pain.

Even worse..this evil foul demon was her mentor..so did that mean she would act like him? He had to be rational about this situation. She asked him if that made HER evil..
"No..it doesn't.."
She grabbed onto his hand, he showed no resistance. He just heard what she was saying to him, but then she mentioned becoming a real vampire for him, and thinking about him and everything. His eyes softened again, and he looked up into her eyes. He couldn't believe what he was hearing from her.
"..Why would you do all of that for me? I thought..you were done with me."
His words were low, almost like he was scared to say them.

"I was afraid to hurt you!"She said staring at him seeing him look at her for the first time. "I thought....if I made you go away, I could learn to control my...my hunger. I'd be able to stay with you longer, because I wouldn't be wanting to kill you."She said shaking her head. "It's a stupid reason!"She said looking away and then back up at him. "Really stupid, but had you been there, I wouldn't have been able to be this close to you."She said looking down at their hands. "I wanted to be with you so badly...but I had to push you away...firstly to help save you're life."She said looking up at him not permitting herself to cry. Another thing she had learned to do. Keep the tears at bay. She could go without crying now. Go as long as she wanted, she didn't feel her lip tremble, or anything anymore. She looked up at him her eyes pleading for him to forgive her for her stupid mistake. "Please...forgive me."She whispered bringing his hand to her lips softly, placing a cold kiss there.

He listened to her, his eyes closing. It was not so easy for him to just forgive most people..especially after such a betrayal. But her betrayal was justified in this way. Her words sounded so sincere..he looked at her and could tell that she meant everything that she said to him. He nodded to her one time.
"I..I forgive you."
He meant it when he said it, and his eyes watered up a little. He found himself leaning forward onto her, and hugging her softly. She was a little cold, but so what, he didn't care. He was just happy to see her..happy to have her back in his life again.

Valerie felt her hands trembling when he looked skeptical. He looked down at her and she felt her heart melt. Well, if she had a heart of course. He forgave her? He...he really forgave her? Then he was hugging her? She gasped slightly and hugged him back harder then she meant to and loosened her grip immediately. She could feel his warmth against her. It even heated her up a little bit. Of course it would be gone the second he let her go, but she felt the heat seep into her flesh. Leaving her feeling warm and fuzzy. She gripped him a little harder her face pressed against his chest. "I'm sorry Ninshi."She whispered. "I'm so sorry."She said looking up at him. "I..I know I've changed..but...can you look past the hard outside exterior?"She asked looking up at him small tears in her eyes now. Even though she had kept them away for this long. They pricked against the sides of her eyes and left her bottom lip trembling.

She hugged him back, which made things better. Sure she was strong, but Ninshi wasn't exactly a fragile guy. When she pressed her face to his chest, he let her apologize again, still holding her close to him. "Valerie.." He put his hands on her shoulder, and moved her a little off of him so he could look into her eyes. They were watering up..she was about to cry. He smiled to her, trying to reassure her that everything was alright. She was back around him, and away from Drium..and that alone made him happy.
"Of course I can..you'll always be, 'Valerie' to me." And with that, he let out a little chuckle.

Valerie gave a watery laugh and then hiccuped. "I told myself."She whispered wiping her eyes. "That no matter what happened I wouldn't cry."She said looking up at him and then smiled. They seemed to have disappeared also. She let one last one slide down her face. Savoring the happiness of that last tear. She looked up at him and smiled. "Thank you."She said softly. "Will you go to the dance with me?"She asked suddenly her eyes twinkling, the tear halfway down her cheek still. "I know we're already here...but...I would like it if you would, go to the dance with me."She said softly looking at him. "I'd really like it."

Ninshi surely was not the best dancer, and he was a little hesitant to step onto the dance floor with her. But surely if he could learn to fight and wield swords in the flashy way that he does, maybe he could learn to move his body in a way that was..attractive. He thought about it for a few more seconds, looking to the dance floor, and then looking back to her. The expression on her face..it was obvious that she realy wanted to do this. He sighed, shaking his head and laughing to himself.
"Sure..I guess we can do it."

Valerie smiled happily at him and glided to him holding her hand out to him. She could tell by the look on his face that he wasn't sure of what he was doing. But she did. "Don't worry, I'll lead you."She said softly looking up at him. She smiled and slowly bent into a curtsy, her knees almost touching the ground her eyes still on him. Coming up slowly she kept her eyes on his the entire time. "May I have this dance?"She asked holding her gloved hand out to him. "I don't care if you can't dance."She said softly looking up at him. "I'm just happy to have you back."She said smiling up at him.

He curtsied in front of her, and he blushed to her just a little. He was dressed spiffy in his tuxedo, but since they weren't discussing events of the past, he had a chance to take in how beautiful she was in her dress. It made him smile, and he felt lucky to be on her good side, she was a vampire after all..a pretty vampire. He realized he still had his hat on, and he took it off, and hung it over the sword on his back. His hair was unkept, but he wasn't expecting to take off his hat.
"Why yes..yes you may."
He bowed to her, his left arm extending outward, and his right hand over his chest.

Valerie smiled at him and slowly took his hand. She stood up and moved closer to him. Taking his other hand in her cold hand. She smiled up at him, her fangs just showing to him, but she quickly closed her mouth. She shook her head and then looked up at him through her eyelashes. "You look very handsome."She whispered her eyes looking at his chest now. She was having a hard time looking up at him. He was so tall. "I like you in a tux...You should wear it more often.."She said smiling up at him as he took off his hat. "I like you're hair too."She said softly looking up at him smiling. She moved a bit closer as a slow dance started and led him away into the middle of the dance floor. Moving very gracefully for the first time in her life when she was around him, she closed her eyes and hummed with the song. "It's easy."She said softly slowly letting him take over.

He allowed her to take his hands, and smiled watching her move toward him. He saw her fangs, but he was not frightened of them..he never was, anyway, but now it was like he had no reason to..but he did before. It was funny how he was upset a little over a week ago, and today he's standing here with her at the ball..having his would be night of a million lifetimes. His smile widened at all of her compliments. He received similar compliments in the past, but it meant a lot coming from Valerie..for in this moment, he didn't care about the others who complimented him..he only cared about what she thought of him right now. The music changed tempo, and he moved his body to try to match it..moving a little in sync with her.

Valerie smiled up at him gripping his hand a little harder and closing her eyes moving closer to him even still. His warmth washed over her like water. Leaving her almost breathless in the pleasure the heat gave her. She couldn't believe she was here, in his arms, at a ball, when a week ago. He had run away, thinking he was leaving her life forever. Smiling she opened her eyes and looked up at him. "So what brought you to the ball?"She asked slowly. "The fact that it is a once in a lifetime opportunity? Well...for you?"She asked grinning slightly her fangs showing but she didn't bother covering them up.

He felt her hold his hand firmer than before. It was a welcome gester, though. At least she didn't run away from him because of his horrible dancing. Her question reached his ears, and he looked over into her eyes.
"Well..not like there was anything else for me to do..so I figured I'd try to have some fun tonight." He put a hand on her back, pushing her into him just a little. "So..instead of just having some fun, I got something better." His face moved in a little closer to her, his eyes soft, like he was in a trance. "I..got to see you again."

Valerie smiled at him his face closer to hers. She hadn't been this close to him like this since that night in her tree. Sitting with him, when she had kissed him and he had passed out from shock. They had been having a fight then too. She smiled at him opening her eyes. "And I got to see you."She said softly. She knew this should be off limits, dancing with a human, as she was a vampire. But it was happening. She smiled and led him carefully in the dance so he wouldn't step on her feet, or she wouldn't step on his feet. "Are you happy though? Is that really better?"She asked gently.

He also had a feeling that this was probably frowned upon by the others, seeing as they were both of a different race, and he could feel the gaze of other people upon him, but he honestly didn't are. He moved with her, nearly as gracefully as she did. He would never match the nimbleness of a vampire, but he sure could try. It was almost as if he was trying to impress her, and he made sure he didn't step on her feet or anything.
"Yes..it is better..I feel as if I can let my guard down around you..I feel as if I can trust you more now."

Valerie smiled at him. "You don't have to worry about me attacking you."She whispered. The change in her voice very evident. It was soft, like velvet, sliding across you're ears. Pleasant to listen to, addicting to hear. She smiled at him carefully. Trying really hard not to turn on her new found powers of seduction. She had found she could willingly hold anyone in the palm of her hand, for as long as she wanted. All they had to do was talk to her, and they were in, making it very easy to get food, especially male food. She grinned at him again, her fangs gleaming. "I'm sorry I had to learn this the hard way..."She whispered looking up at him her face closer to his then before.
