Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

The Citadel of Immateriality
The Citadel of Immateriality, an imposing structure, seems to have appeared from nothingness. Situated upon what would appear to be a large, rocky outcrop, it has materialized in the middle of the Sedokai Ocean, a winding bridge of glass extending towards the shoreline. This ‘glass’ is solid underfoot, unbothered by the constant swaying of the waves; it is a coal grey in colour, and has no railings – visitors to the Citadel are expected to walk the path and survive. It would seem, however, that the waves do not touch the walkway or, indeed, splash up against it. It is completely dry. Still, if one looks over the edge or down at their feet they can see the depths of the ocean…

The Citadel, from afar, appears to be in ruins, but as soon as one’s foot steps onto the rocky ground just beyond the glass walkway, the island upon which the building sits explodes into life. A garden surrounds the entrance, which is not barred by any gate. The Citadel itself looks similar to a square horseshoe, split into three rectangles, one acting as a west wing, one as an east wing, and one as the main area; the former two flank one as they walk the path. From the east and west wings hang luscious plants in what would be described as the most exquisite hanging garden. Trees line either side of a simple stone path, to the entrance, which has a small flight of stairs leading up to it. The massive rosewood doors are adorned with silver gilding and two silver handles. The entire building looks to be made of the same glass that the walkway was made of, yet it is impossible to see inside.

Beyond the double doors lies the entrance hall. For reasons unknown, it is completely greyscale. Twenty servants, ten on either side of a black carpet, stand to attention, adorned in matching grey outfits. The two nearest the door seem to know when one arrives – it swings open unbidden, and the guest is admitted inside, although it becomes clear that nobody has touched the doors - all of the servants are as cold and hard as marble. Once inside the Citadel, the glass-like walls seem to become a deep, smokey grey. Torches and candles light all areas well, also devoid of colour, but it does not crush the feeling that the darkness is beginning to devour all that encounters it.

The dining hall is just beyond the entrance hall, a mere walk straight forward. Rooms and hallways branch off from the main hall, and guests were welcomed to explore the east and west wings when the ball was held for the Ersatz dynasty; they were even offered rooms for the evening. As one passes into the dining hall, they are able to see elaborately dressed men and women carrying silver trays with food piled high, unmoving but appearing as though they had once directed people and replenished what food and drink has been removed from the massive tables along the far wall. The women wear elaborate dresses that one would only see a very rich noblewoman wear in Morrim, while the men wear crisp tunics with still crisper breeches. Beautiful, large, elaborately adorned Grecian columns stretch towards the domed ceiling to make arches where, through the smokey glass, one can see the sky above. The Citadel is bathed in perpetual twilight. There are four such arches, four columns total. In the centre of the room sits a small dais. Every single person here appears to be frozen in time with greyscale appearances, the room likewise devoid of all colour and movement.

The dais is the occasional home of the seventeenth Emperor and fourteenth Empress of the Ersatz Dynasty. Both wear heavy cloaks with the hoods up, enshrouding their faces in darkness. Only the smile upon the Empress’ lips is visible, a distracted one upon the man’s. They once greeted their guests, speaking quietly yet still audible to the one they speak to, drifting about the room like silent wraiths. Unlike their servants, they were garbed from head to toe in crimson, now turned grey, and have a much more sinister feel. Both monarchs, however, spoke kindly and gently. Occasionally they would abandon their guests, but for no more than ten or fifteen minutes at a time. They never seemed to tire. Now they cannot be found.

A feeling of timelessness seems to surround the Citadel, as if, upon stepping onto the small isle, time has ceased to be and all is but a dream.

Welcome to the Citadel of Immateriality, home to the Emperor and Empress of the Ersatz Dynasty. For all intents and purposes, it looks to be one massive statue within.
