Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Valerie collapsed exhausted onto the cave floor. She had just managed to get here before the sun had come up. She crawled away from the entrance and huddled in a corner. The sun had touched her heel and it was rather painful. She blinked and stared at the moving sun on the ground. Her fangs were bared and her hair was wild around her shoulders. Her hair tie had long fallen out. Somewhere on the border of Soto she guessed. She had run almost all night. Making it just in time. She blinked carefully and folded herself up against the cave wall. But she couldn't fall asleep. There was to much noise. She had managed to find a small sheltered cave at the bottom of a crevice in the mountains. To think she had WANTED to come here. Sure there were animals everywhere. Unlike the forests in Soto. But at least the forest was dark almost all day. Animals were moving around all outside, rocks fell outside her cave and she occasionally heard voices. She must be near some small village hidden away in the mountains. Pushing herself as deep into the corner of the cave as possible she found some plants and hid at the back of them. Using them to hide herself she stared at the entrance. Something flashed across it. A shadow? Oh no! What if some little kids used this for a hiding spot. She curled up in the corner and held her breath. |

"Mm? What do we have here?" said a disembodied voice. Footsteps, only heard due to the terrible acoustics of the place, carried him deeper into the gullet of the cavern. Talons traced the rock walls, sliding against it surface as if he were touching water. Back lit, the details of the figure could not be seen, but one would be able to see the long, snowy, crystalline stands of hair draped over his shoulders, and that he was dressed in an expensive, deep red longcoat with silver threads spiraling along the hems. "A mouse hiding in a hole." Amidst the blackness of his silhouette, the female would only be able to see the whites of a pair of ominous eyes. The mage halted just before the shrubbery, tilting his head curiously to the side, blinking tiredly at the scene before him. She reeked of the same scent he had been finding much of these days. Death. Not the rot of flesh or the steely odor of blood, but rather the scent of a being such as himself that ought not to be. "You are awfully close to my territory, Girl. Why?" A simple question. She should be able to answer it. |

Valerie froze when she heard a voice. Glancing up at the figure all she saw was a pair of eyes. She whimpered when she heard the voice. She was so sore, so tired. She just wanted to sleep, but apparently she was in someone else's territory? She glanced up at him and then away. "I didn't know anyone had this..territory."She said softly, hiding herself more thoroughly in the plants. She was shaking though, making the plants shake, giving her away. Valerie was probably the worst Vampire you could find. She was clumsy, she gave herself away much to easily, she had been bit a few years before, and wasn't very good at hiding yet. She had lived in a forest for a long time, living off of animals, so her eyes were a light gray instead of black. She knew there was no point in hiding. If he was going to kill her, he would do so when she was in the open. She slowly crawled out of the plants and stood up, standing with her nose only going up to his chest she backed up and almost fell over. "I'm..I'm sorry." She said softly. "I can leave the second the sun goes down."She said her foot getting caught on a plant, making her unable to move any farther. |

His aura was a throng of chilly serpents, crawling out along the floor, the walls, the ceiling... The intense black eyes set in the middle of his face were without warmth just as well, intensely boring holes through her skull as she shifted and rose to stand. A subtle grimace triggered at the edges of his bloodless lips. What a pathetic little thing... She had no idea whose presence she was in - a future emperor, the pale, white death of Elenlond. "Ignorance isn't an excuse for anything. You cannot kill someone and exclaim 'I'm sorry, I didn't know that was your brother.'" The apparition took a step closer to the standing vampire, closing in the distance. The air around him seemed toxic. One could choke on this poisonous miasma. "You cannot save a soul and later plead, 'Please, I didn't know it was the harbinger of destruction'." He leaned forward, his face close enough to her's to lick the tip of her nose if he wanted to. His voice fell to an empty whisper, "One must take responsibility for their actions, Girl, even if you were unaware of the consequences." It wasn't that he didn't notice her frailty at this moment, it wasn't that he couldn't see the way she shook, nor would he hear her apology. It was simply a matter of disconcern, and the little fact that he enjoyed himself more when inflicting discomfort upon pathetic creatures, such as the one displayed before him. At his side, a dart of violet shot out from his hand at the speed of black light, its target being the center of the weak one's stomach. At such a close range, this would, no doubt, hurt like a sledgehammer... "Today you are unfortunate," his serpentine smile widened. |

Valerie stepped backwards away from him, but his face was so close, she couldn't look away at all. Then she felt something hit her, HARD, in her stomach. She doubled over in pain. Groaning she fell to her knees. She had no idea what had happened. Though she had little doubt that the man who had done it. Whoever he was. She gasped for breath and stared at the floor, trying to catch her breath. Whatever that had been, had hurt. She looked up at him small tears in her eyes. "What..was that?"She whispered and groaned again. She let her head fall, her hands clutched around her stomach. She stared at the ground trying to catch her breath. "Who..who are you?"She asked her breathing slowly coming back to normal. "I don't know what I did!"She said tears falling down her face now. "I just came to hide from the sun."She whimpered and tried to back up into the corner. She pushed herself back into the corner, holding her arms out trying to flatten herself against the wall. "I didn't do anything!"she said whimpering. |

The fire of exstacy burned in those wretched eyes as she fell once more. A chirp of a laugh left his mouth, but he became silent once more to revel in the groans rolling through her throat. His boots skiffed upon the raw ground, yet again drawing him near the crippled vampire. "That, my dear, was magic," he commented non-chalantly as he raised his ivory hand to examine. Painted black talons glistened in the cursed sunlight behind him. "And I am your future God, as well as your executioner... Oh, but not now. You must stay here on this plane to revel in the beauty I am to bless this world with. You will bare witness to the apocalypse. Don't you feel special? Hmmm?" The grand master placed his boot on the fallen one's lower abdomen, giving it just enough pressure to delicately hold her down. "Stop whining. Bad things happen to good people for no good reason. If you haven't learned that by now, I'm not sure you will even make it long enough to see my masterpiece! Come now. Buck up! Lift that chin of yours high to the sky. Say: "Oppressor! I will not be the dirt beneath your heel!" He raised a gloved fist and shook it in a passionate display. "You will rue the day you chose to step on-" He paused. "Uhm. Onnnn....? I need a name here, Girlie. You're leaving me out to dry! Oh, nevermind." His foot left her form, taking its place once again beneath the Banshee, twisting into a turn to leave her staring at his backside. He waved his hand at her in dismissal. "You lowly thing. At least you provided a few minutes of entertainment. Caio!" |

Valerie stared at him and felt his foot touch her abs, keeping her down. She closed her eyes, waiting for him to crush her. But he left her alone and turned around. She stared at him silently. "I don't understand."She said softly as he said something about being her God. She stood up slowly and did just what he said. Lifted her chin up in the air and stared at his retreating figure. "I want to know what you are talking about!"She demanded her fangs bared slightly. Sure he could probably kill her, he had just proved he was stronger then her. But remember that she isn't the best Vampire ever? Yeah, she wasn't the smartest either. She wasn't going to let him just push her around without a fight. She walked forward. "Don't just walk away! I want answers!"She said angrily staring at him. She didn't like this guy, and she wanted him to know that. |

"Mm?" he paused in his journey towards the mouth of the cave when she moronically stood and called back the dark one's attention. Now, so close to the outside, she would see every detail of his back, right down to the serpent emblem encrusted on the back of his coat. His white hair, pulled up elegantly in a high tail, fell over his shoulder, halfway out of sight, with the turning of his head. Those fearsome eyes that she had seen hovering in the darkness where she stood finally had a face around it. That face was paper-white, and those eyes were swallowed by unearthreal rings of black. His smile was twisted... "The mouse squeaks! How adorable..." the last word oozed from his tongue like he was going to vomit directly after allow it to drip out. Turning, his body fully facing her now, he stepped closer, back into her shadowed little hide-away, stripping her of the visage he had just blessed her with. "Of course you don't understand, Pet," his words quickly became sharp and seething as his taloned hand darted out to catch her throat. "You cannot comprehend the plans of a God. Your tiny little brain would e'splode! Besides, if I've learned one thing from centuries of un-life is that the villain never gives his plans away. All you need to do is fear me, avoid me, for your life does depend on it, and wait for the day that it rains sulfur and the soil turns black beneath a sea of blood. Not so hard. M kay?" A violet glow surrounded his outstretched hand. If the same spell were to contact her throat, her trachea would be crushed. Instead of unleashing it, he held it there around his hand, waiting for her to nod or gasp 'okay!' ((Sorry I play such an asshole. XD This isn't personal. )) |

Valerie stared at him as she got a full view of him. She gasped slightly and backed up again. But he came back in and disappeared from view. But she saw the violet light. It had to be the same spell he had used when he smacked her in the stomach. She whimpered and saw it was pointed at her throat. Hitting the wall behind her as she backed up she closed her mouth and didn't say a thing. This was crazy. He wasn't a god! He was just some creepy little guy pretending to play god. Of course with that ball of magic she wasn't about to say that to him. She stared at the violet ball fearfully. Who knew, maybe he'd hit her in the stomach again. Why should she listen to him? She jutted her chin out and stood up straight again, moving away from the wall she stared at him. "What if I don't believe you're a god? How can you prove that?" She asked holding her chin high. |

"Ugh..." his shoulders slumped and the eyes rolled. "You silly girl. You don't even listen, do you? I said future God! Future! As in not yet, but soon! Really, you are a pathetic thing, much more than I had initially thought. Why am I even wasting my voice on you?" The violet glow subsided and he released her, taking a step back. "As the events of the yet-to-come unveil themselves, you will have your proof. If you are so impatient, then go crawl in a hole and kill yourself, because you are a waste of meat, a sack of flesh that only the maggots will find useful. Now, have we learned anything today, or am I going to have to rough you up a little more? Because I really don't mind. In fact, it would be my pleasure. I have many ways to inflict upon you the pain you seem so much to adore. How about this one?" Ah, yes, the self-titled spell of pain. A red aura would engulf her and she would begin to feel as if she were standing on top of a matress of needles. Any amout of agony she was already in would only increase. |

Valerie stared him. He sounded like a child to her. Like he was convincing himself that he would be a future god. She stared at him hard, until something like a needles being put on top of her. She yelled out but kept on her feet, until her knees gave out. She fell to her knees in front of him but kept her eyes on him. "Just...because you can..beat up someone, doesn't mean you should.."She said and fell over in agony. She felt every burn on her body feel like it was on fire. She felt like she was being burned alive. She doubled over holding her stomach. She lifted her head to look at him again, her eyes alight with rage. She was so angry. Just because he COULD hurt her, he was. Which was so mean. She yelled out from the pain, but she stood up carefully so that she was standing in front of her. Pain shot through her body, she yelled out again but stayed upright. "Why.."She muttered, but before she could even finish the sentence she had fallen down in front of him again. She whimpered loudly. "How..rude."She whispered. |

"Oh, no, you think I'm hurting you just because I can?" he chuckled, folding his arms across his chest as he swayed his weight onto the opposite foot. The amusement in his eyes was dwindling. He was quickly growing bored with his fresh catch. "No, my dear, it's not as simple as all that. I hurt you because I like it. Seeing you doubled over in pain is more attractive to me than a beautiful, intelligent woman. I wouldn't mind either, mind you, but since a beautiful, intelligent woman is not present, I opt to amuse myself with your howling pain. I must also add... that I am getting bored. I may as well just kill you now so you cannot speak to me and leave. You of course, would remain, Maggot Feed." His hand began to glow once more, but just as it began to, the wicked ghoul perked, "Or! An alternative! How about this? I give you shelter, nurse you back to your health in my tower, chain you to a wall, and visit you when I am upset to vent upon." Andromalius scratched his chin deviously, sparing her a charitable glance now and again. |

Valerie stared at him. He was crazy! Absolutely mad! She would not let him just kill her now! She had worked so hard to stay alive. But being chained to a wall didn't sound appealing either. She doubled over again from the pain. "Please..don't kill me."She said softly and whimpered. "I'll do anything, I've worked so hard to stay alive." She said bent over her forehead almost touching the ground. A small tear touched the ground. He ENJOYED hurting people? Needed someone to take it out on? She had spent so much energy to stay alive. Maybe she wasn't the best Vampire in the world, but she was persistent. She was brave, sometimes stupid, and clumsy. But she kept at it, never giving up. She lifted her face to look up at him, but was only able to see his knees. The pain kept her doubled over. It wasn't helping much though. "Please."She whispered. |

"Please..don't kill me. I'll do anything, I've worked so hard to stay alive." His deviousness faltered, his smile fading into the stony expression of apathy. "Maggot Feed..." his new pet name for her. The Grand Master stooped to one knee before her, his hair elegantly falling from his shoulders down his back, one strand at a time, like water. The spell of pain subsided. He gently raised a hand to place it on her head. "Life... is a never-ending struggle to survive for everyone. It will always be this way for you. You cannot beg and plead. You have to grow stronger, so that you can defend yourself, else your life will be extinguished, if not by me, then by someone else." He tilted his head slightly at her before removing his hand. Shrugging his shoulders, the collar of his coat fell. One arm was slid from it, then the other. Soon he was holding the garment, and, with a flourish of dark red fabric, he covered her with it. "There are some real nuts in this world. You may have happened upon the worst, but I am an intellectual, not a brute, so I will save you for another day of torment." The Banshee stood. A bit less clothed now, he had been wearing a black sleeveless shirt in the fashion of a robe beneath the coat he had given her. "The only way to keep this from happening again is to grow stronger. Well, so long! Haha. Have a nice day, Maggot Feed!" For the last time, he turned his back to her, heading to the mouth of the cave. "Oh, and, don't let me catch you in the mountains again." |

Valerie gasped slightly when the pain stopped. She kept herself bent over though and was even more surprised when he lay his hand on her head and put a jacket type thing on her. She looked up in shock and watched as he left. Maggot Feed he called her. She gripped the sides of the jacket hard and stared at him. She stared at his back as he told her not to come back into the mountains. So she had spent all that time trying to get there, just to be sent back to the forest. Because where else was there to go? She hadn't heard of him before. Passerby said this place was full of animals, and had no ruler. A nice place to live. Now she was cast out by some nobody with an intent to kill her. "My name is Valerie."She mumbled softly and then hoped he hadn't heard her. She didn't want to see his face again. She crouched down gripping the fabric her nails sharp against it. It was beautiful, and still had his body heat from it. She hadn't been warm in so long. It was already growing cold though even as she held it. Why had he left it? Was there some pity in his heart? There must be, or else he would have taken her back to his tower or whatever and chained her to a wall. She knew she would have to wait a few days before leaving though. She needed to rest, to regain strength before running back home. She'd have to stay here all day anyway. Retreating back into the plants she folded the fabric over her to keep the glare of the day out of her eyes, and muffle the noises of the animals. |
