Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

“As much as I enjoy the chaos you bring into my life…. It is time to be rid of you once and for all!" A woman’s intense voice proclaimed, her tone dark and full of confidence as if there was no doubt that she could singlehandedly wipe out the small team set against her.

The shadow magician gave the woman a sideways glance, curious as to what she was up to. Surely she must be aware of the barrier that had been erected around them. He remained on his guard however, as did those whom he was with as they prepared for whatever counterattack the Seventh might have in store. She stepped forward, moving just a foot in front of her fallen comrade and held her arms outstretched at her sides. The glowing slits of her eyes took on a white hue as she levitated a few inches above the cracked marble ground.

With a flash, a fiery white explosion burst outwards from around her, a wall of flame, just as blinding as her sudden aura raced out to greet them. The magician could feel the intense heat upon his person, despite the group’s protection, but it was the tremendous blast of force from behind the flames that sent everyone reeling. The blast of power shattered the barrier that had been protecting him and his teammates from elemental magic, hurtling the lighter ones off their feet and out of sight with a yelp.

Bracing himself on his back leg, he dug his front heel into the ground as the overwhelming power had him skidding back. Though it was a strain to keep an eye open, he caught a glimpse of one of his comrades in a similar situation, using their broadsword as an anchor to keep themselves planted in one place. Unfortunately, he was much too preoccupied with maintaining his balance and attempting to withstand the push of the attack to notice the change in the texture of the ground beneath his feet or the sudden dimming in light.

After a moment more, the forceful blast ended and he glared forward between shielding forearms before noting a slight burning sensation at his wrist. With an annoyed grunt, he whipped the billowing end of his sleeve away from him, the quick movement extinguishing the loose flame upon the fabric. It was only then, when he was still and was sure he was relatively unscathed, did he realize what had just happened. With a startled jump the magician raced towards the rapidly shrinking hole in reality that he had apparently just been pushed through. The crazed, wild laughter of his adversary reached faintly through opening. “I see you’ve found my little surprise!” The jovial voice proclaimed, thoroughly amused by the sudden turn of events that had no less than ensured victory against the group by splitting them up. By now the tear was much too small for him to return to the battle through, but maybe….

He forced his hand forward up to the sleeve into the tear just as it seemed to close about his wrist. With what appeared to be a pained wince, he paused with his arm outstretched, the hand now missing, before dropping it to his side dejectedly. He stood there for a moment and then raised his arm, his hand snaking out of the sleeve and clenching into a fist with a puff of dark vapor as if nothing had happened. The male tilted his head back to look up at the dark clouds above, the torrential downpour of the unfamiliar location now completely drenching his clothing though he did not seem to mind. Sharply letting his chin fall to his chest, he let loose a sigh and began to look about himself, surveying the area for any signs of… well… anything…

“What to do, what to do….”

Like his allies, Ravior took his stance knowing the elemental shield wouldn’t hold for all of his current comrades. Magic repelling shields weren’t his specialty, especially when spreading it then across the small team of warriors, mages, entertainers and whatnot. The fiery blast was too much for his low level Magic Mirror to reflect thus resulting in the knock back from the following air current spell.

The toned mercenary was sent rolling across the floor, the flames attached to his cloak being quickly spurted out and extinguished against the hard marble ground. Dizzy, Ravior got to his feet a little too late. He tried to rush through the closing portal hole but simply couldn’t make it in time. In an angered rage, he threw a punch at the closed doorway, his metallic, spiked-knuckles gleaming, and what rain that suddenly collected on his arm was thrown off in fury.

Ravior let out a low grunt then slouched his shoulders. He took a quick glimpse around with his silver eyes and came to the conclusion that he had no idea where he was. Only he and the tall mage stood in the immediate facility. The toned man observed the damage to himself and noted the singe marks on his cloak to be the only problem areas.

Ravior replied to the figure’s question, “First thing would be to figure out where we were and how to get back, correct?” he cocked his head in the magician’s direction. “Okay, head check. Those that are dead, mumble the word ‘brains’, the rest of you get on your feet. Gather up, let’s go,” he called out with his hands in the air waving towards himself. He strode to the tall bandaged man. “This isn’t what I signed on for,” he let out with a sigh.

Razi turned his head and watched sympathetically as the mercenary let out his frustrations as to missing the portal. He said nothing, having figured there wasn’t much to say that would make anyone feel better at the moment given the circumstances. Instead, he began slowly shuffling about in place, listening to the unending pitter patter of the downpour. The magician stuck his gloved hands out into the rain and began collecting the falling droplets of water in his cupped palms. He then took to letting it fill and opening his hands to let it pour out before repeating the process. He was only half paying attention to the words spoken by the mercenary, smirking inwardly at his automatic self promotion to the leadership title.

With a jerk of his head and putting a stop to his nonsensical movements, he looked around after he heard the command for others to gather up. Aside from himself and Ravior, there were only two others who had been sent through this particular portal; a tall, lean axe wielding human male and another fighter type whose build seemed to be more focused on power than speed. Seeing them, the magician took a moment to wonder what had become of some of the others who were with them. He figured that perhaps a few of them had been sent through similar portals to other destinations, while those who had managed to stay behind… He shook his head; they surely had drawn the short end of the stick…

“What ever do you mean?” He asked, surprise lacing his voice as he turned towards Ravior. “Action, adventure, danger!” His voice began to crescendo as he made exaggerated hand gestures. “Excitement and destinations unknown!” He paused, his mirror-like eyes falling slowly onto the fighter in front of him as he let out a slow breath. “It’s exactly what you signed on for.” A dark, borderline hysterical laugh escaped him, but was cut short as his mind went to other things. “Now! As to where we are going….” He began taking a step forward, but stopped mid movement, his leg poised in the air. “Where…. Are we going?”

Ravior cocked his head back and stared up into the dark swirling sky of demented rain clouds. The cold air given off the constant rain prodded at his spine like the thousands feet of a caterpillar. He shook off the cold and took in another long, deep gaze at the surroundings and could only think of very few places they could be, none of which he wanted to be near.

“No, what I signed on for was a relatively simple job of ‘Find the target, kill the target’ not the ‘Find the target, lose half a team, and get thrown through a portal so you can’t collect a reward’ job. I’m a mercenary, not part of your country’s army,” his head still pointing to the skies, yet his eyes rolling back to Razi. “Well, I guess it can’t be helped. Just hope you’ll cover the traveling cost…”

Ravior dropped his head back into its normal resting place and stretched out his arms, spinning them and popping his back. His index finger found its place upon his rough chin that hasn’t been shaved in about a week. Scruffy hairs were poking out in all sorts of directions; it gave him something to do as he collected his thoughts. “Enough of my ramblings, as for where we are – one place in particular come to mind. Judging by the foresting surroundings and the never-ending rain; the fact that there is no animal life in the area and the dark luminous ruined buildings covered in plant-life, I’d say we’re in the Ruins of Storms. Though I’ve never been here, I’ve heard some pretty bad things. Being in the Ruins of Storms also means that we are on Neutral Ground, which I guess is sort of a nice thing, since no wars and such nearby. Where we go is up to you, Razi,” the finger that laid upon his chin was now pointing in Razi’s direction.

Razi started to settle back into a more comfortable standing position as the blonde haired fighter began to respond. He watched the man’s movements closely, purely out of habit, and with a quick glance between Ravior and the sky, figured he was cold. His head tilted ever so slightly to the side at the observation, and he wondered why people didn’t wear more weather adaptable clothing. Of course, he had to consider the fact that not everywhere was such material readily available. “No mercenary job is ever as simple as initially described. You would be well to remember that for the future.” The magician then shifted his eyes to the side. “Not that mercenary work is my field of expertise, but the point still stands!”

Quietly he dismissed his comrade’s joke about traveling expenses with a simple nod. He wasn’t exactly sure he’d be able to afford his own, let alone those of another. Not that he had any intention of paying for anything, for himself or otherwise. Razi’s attention was briefly drawn to movement out of the corner of his eye and he turned slightly, watching the other two who were with them as they approached while chatting amongst themselves. He caught their eye and they exchanged nods before fixing their attention back onto Ravior.

“Oh?” Razi chimed in when the fighter finished; a curious tone in his voice. He turned to look towards the ruins that Ravior described, letting loose a long quiet whistle as he did so. He stared at the ruins for a long moment, taking in the ancient architecture and inwardly smirking to himself. Before he became too wrapped up the mysterious structure, he shot Ravior a look, an interesting detail coming to the forefront of his mind. “Wait, how do you know about these ruins? You’re familiar with this place?”

Ravior drooped a little, seeing as the man questioned him more. A rather bored tone left his mouth has he spoke again, “Like I said, I’ve never been here. I’ve only heard rumors, nothing fancy, just demonic cults, human sacrifices, and the likes. There’s supposed to be some ruined temple of evil or something in the area. Suffice to say, it’s the only thing I’ve heard being out here and most likely our only shelter to consider in the storms.” Ravior shifts his weight to his right side as he stepped up to a tree to shelter himself from the breeze rolling through.

“As for the location, rumor has it in the northern area, but I have no idea what part we’re in, and it’s rather hard for me to decipher our direction. I’m not a woodsman, and the sun isn’t out to help. Any ideas?” the quick-witted man spoke softly. He was being rather nice today, despite the fact they lost a few members and that he was lost in the rain with some rather weird people. Maybe he simply found the area peaceful, as if his soul seemed at home in the dark and demented territory. Ravior couldn’t quite place his finger on it.

“Hmmm…” Was the shadow magician’s only response to Ravior’s less than satisfactory response. He still had several more questions for him regarding the matter, but he was well aware that this was neither the time nor the place to pursue them. He’d just have take what information he had now and run with it, holding back on a more thorough interrogation until later. Regardless of how Ravior came upon the knowledge he had of the area; it would indeed be useful in their quest to navigate it. “So there are ruins in the north, eh…” He mused aloud, mostly to himself while once again gazing at their surroundings.

He didn’t know how good the other’s eyesight was, but he could see fairly well in the dark and was easily able to spot what appeared to be a misshapen lump jutting out of the horizon. When called upon for ideas, he held back from giving his own recommendation. First, Razi looked at the other two in the group to see what their thoughts on the current matter were, but they seemed just as lost as the rest, so he shook his head and sighed.

“Well!” Razi proclaimed enthusiastically. “Where there are ruins, there is probably treasure.” He laughed, mostly to himself. “So I suggest we head there…. As to which direction…” He turned, pointing towards where he saw the strange, distant structure. “That way.”

Ravior let out a laugh on the inside, mocking the treasure hunter’s remarks. He wasn’t sure if Razi really knew what he was doing, but apparently he noticed something that Ravior didn’t since he came up with the direction so easily. “I fear the only treasure we’ll be finding is that of corpses and gnawed bones. Either way, we should be careful as we don’t know the area too well. Take point, Razi, since you apparently know where we are heading. You two in the middle, I’ll bring up the rear.”

He gave another large stretch of his arms and rang out his thick cloak a bit to lighten the weight and to lessen the cold from his back. He left the hood down in order to get a better view of anything around him that would approach and attack. He joined the group after the others sulked up behind Razi, obviously prepared to get moving. They had been strangely quiet throughout the entire battle and even after getting thrown through a portal. Hell, he hadn’t even heard them talk, if they had, it most likely was whispers behind their backs.

Ravior wasn’t much for trusting anyone, no matter how silent they are. In fact, he thought the quieter they are the more deadly and should be watched. The only people he really ever trusted were already dead, with the exception of one mangy fleabag of a shape-shifter. He adjusted his steel-spiked knuckles, keeping one cautious eye on the two in front of him and the other eye on his surroundings.

“Oh?” He asked before turning on his heels, his sash whipping out behind him as he began to walk towards his destination. “I’m sure there must be something left worth salvaging…” His tone was insistent and Ravior could be sure there would be no convincing him of otherwise until the ruins were thoroughly explored. Razi was of the type who would refuse to let his hopes be dashed, no matter how strange or unlikely they were.

Before too long, mostly due to Razi’s speed walking and rushing of his comrades, the quartet was standing in front of the ruins themselves. The magician let out a long whistle as he eyed the dark, ominous building in front of him. He then laughed and whirled around to face those he was with, mirror eyes gleaming silver. “Isn’t it simply sublime?” He asked intently before sucking in a breath. “Ah! Can you not feel that? That ominous energy?” He asked, his voice brimming with excitement. “Just being here sends a shiver down my spine. Mmm…” A dark laugh then escaped him as he stuck an upturned palm out into the rain.

“Come now, let’s all head inside.” He said while flicking his fingers at the drops of water. “Wouldn’t want you to catch a cold now would we?” The dark laughter that followed his joke echoed about him as he began to move towards the entrance.

Following Razi, he couldn’t help but scoff at his adventurous and treasure hunting show he was putting on. ‘Such a persistent bastard, even if we did find something, how the hell we suppose to carry it unless it’s like a small artifact that doesn’t weigh much? Oh well, just keep moving, hopefully he’ll give up soon and we’ll all go home,’ Ravior thought to himself.

Before stepping through the entrance, he took a brief second to admire what was left holding the rather large temple up. The twisted columns stretched about fifteen feet high, each with a different humanoid creature carved into its base with outstretched hands or weapons, holding the pillar above them. Stepping in through the entrance, another rather large statue stood in the middle, carved of marble and standing almost as tall as the ceiling.

“Hmm, dark…” Ravior held out his left hand, palm facing the ceiling. His eyes turned a mellow shade of yellow as a he dipped into his mana pool. A bright flare was born hovering over his palm. Pushing his hand forward, it began floating up to the large statue displaying the features. It was a winged being, apparently wearing a half mask with a horn, the hair was short and a bit shaggy. He was of thin, athletic build and wore a full suit of armor. A magnificent lance was held in his left hand, which seemed to be made of a metallic substance and a deep red feathered tassel hung from the base of the protruding blade. The flare floated down to a name plate at the base of the statue which Ravior read out loud, “Sarion, the Lord of Sorrows: Bearer of the Crimson Lance…” A small headache grew in the back of his head the moment he read the name, leading to a ringing that only he could hear.

Ravior pushed the headache aside and spoke once more, “Where to, oh adventurous one?” mocking Razi with a small chuckle.

Razi laughed briefly to himself as Ravior brightened the dark recesses of the ruins with his light spell. “How useful!” He commented with a nod, before he too became enthralled by the towering statue. A long whistle escaped him as he ran his gaze over the statue’s features while Ravior read the description. Their two mostly silent companions also seemed to find the work of interest and they approached it, circling it and tapping it lightly.

“Sarion...? I think that sounds familiar.” One of them commented offhandedly, to which the magician silently tilted his head in question.

The name was foreign to him and held no meaning whatsoever; it might as well have said nothing. Either way, he did like the statue for what it was, and in his mind he played with the idea of adding it to his collection. “Perhaps later…” His whispered voice cooed. He gave Ravior a sideways glance, about to ask if he knew who this Sarion was before the fighter spoke.

“Hmm? You aren’t opposed to travelling deeper?” Razi turned fully to face Ravior, genuine surprise in his voice. If he had any brows to raise, they most certainly would be doing so. “Do you not need a few moments of rest? I am not sure how much, if any, strain attempting to shield us with your barrier put on you.” He sounded concerned, and though he may not have actually felt as concerned about Ravior’s health and wellbeing as he sounded, he was still curious. The magician wasn’t an ungrateful man and very much appreciated the effort Ravior had put forth in the previous battle. Even if in the end it was for naught.

Before Ravior could answer though, the shadow magician spun on his heels to face the other two in their party. “You two! Go scout the remainder of this floor and report back with any findings!” The tone of his voice was harsh and commanding which caught the duo by surprise. They stared at the magician for a long moment without moving, unsure of whether or not he actually had the authority to boss them around like that.

“Please.” Razi tacked on, the solitary word sounding much more pleasant than the orders that preceded it. Sharing a confused look, they looked at Ravior, shrugged lightly and then began to wander off.

Ravior’s eyes darted to the ordered soldiers; he honestly didn’t figure Razi for the ordering type, more of a strategist really. He watched them wonder off into a distant part of the room, fading out of the light. Ravior brushed a stray strand of hair from his brow and gave a simplistic smile to the bandaged ally. His feet shifted across the floor towards the odd statue of some sort of deity or demonic figure. The fighter’s feet skirt across the dirt carpeted scene, leaving prints behind. His hand traced the lettering of the statue, imprinting the name in his mind.

A strange feeling in the back of his head signaled a de ja vu feeling, as if he knew the character, some sort of relation to something that happened in his past, but he couldn’t quite put a finger on it. Ravior knew that he had never seen such a person in his lifetime. The lance and the mask would stand out to him.

“Nah, the spell is a rather weak one and has no toll on my body. I really should train that ability. It’s one of my weakest points really. I’m good to go whenever we’re ready to move.” The appearance of the room seemed to leave the impression that nobody had really been here in a long time, no other prints lay in the light as he danced the orb around his fingers.

The wind quickly picked up and ran across the dirtied floor, clearing his tracks slightly. A rather large crash followed soon after in the direction of the two that wondered off to scout, “Tripped in the dark?” Ravior shrugged and sent the small orb at the sound to help the other teammates with whatever it was they were doing. He lifted a brow at Razi.
