Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

((Sorry if this seems illogical. I tried my best with what I knew, but a lot of details were missing, so this is what you get >_> ))

The sky was cloudless when the silver crescent moon rose to conquer the day. Only when the burning rays of the sun had been chased away did the spirit stir. It had been a while since his awakening. Every day, he continued to use his summons to fetch new world information. He did love writers. They'd write about anything even remotely interesting, and they often had a knack for ignorantly writing something that would be later used for the purpose of evil.

It was a fable that lured him out of his tower to trek across the mountains, a fable much like his own in the way that most would think it just a simple story, no truth to it. There may not even be any truth to it, but it was worth evaluating.

As he entered the temple, he was relieved to find it quiet and empty. Just stepping into a place like this, considered holy to some, sent a shiver down his spine. His eyes took to the shadows where he placed himself to gain a little bit more comfort. The spirit drifted to the western wall. He hovered around the embedded blade, pondering knocking over the vases and stealing the offerings, but restrained himself enough to let the urge roll off his back.

"Hopefully I am correct in assuming there is one other soul present in this place," he called out to anyone who would hear him. "I'm seeking a soul by the name of Neriasis."

He paused, glancing over his shoulder to watch for moving shadows. Nothing.

The mage had adorned himself in a more elaborate outfit than usual. His chest was covered by black leather armor, sleeveless, with the thick designs of a pale skeletal ribcage, complete with a spine that fell down the center of his back. Leather fabric was wound around his bottom half of the same make and color, held to him by a thick belt which seemed to be made of scales. The fabric was torn and tattered at the hem, making it to look as if it were many years old and worn. His shoulders were protected by plates of silver, their design pointed and demonic in nature. Gauntlets covered his arms, reaching just before the elbows, fingerless, with ribbons of shredded leather wrapped chaotically around his biceps. Nails were painted white, and his hair was tied back in a high tail, spiraling down over his shoulders. He stood in his appearance, apathetic to anyone who might see him and know he's not a very nice guy...

"What do you want?" asked a voice from behind the mage. The god, or more accurately ex-god of Order had a certain disheveled appearance this day. Blue hair tied back haphazardously, which was rather rare in itself to have his hair back at all. There was that certain look about him like he had not slept in days, which wasn't far from the truth. He'd actually been wandering around for quite some time, with little to no rest. One of the little green lights that still inhabited the temple, once there had been hundreds of them now there were but a few, had informed Neriasis that someone had seeked him out. He almost always came to a summons of his name, at least when he had the time, and currently he had more than enough time for such things.

At least his clothing didn't look like he had just thrown something on. Though it was still a simple garment, something he was used to wearing and something he was comfortable in. It was a black robe, cut down the back to allow for the use of his black wings. There was nothing fancy about this robe, it was just simple black and that was all.

His red eyes looked the one over who had called out his name. He was pale, attractive, but over all radiated a certain something that Neriasis found quite appealing. A certain darkness about him, but a sly, intelligent darkness; something that Neriasis could appreciate.

((not my best but I still need to get back into playing Neri))

"What do you want?"

"Ah, there you are," he turned, wearing a devilish smirk, peaking a black brow as his hand rose to allow his talons to roam over the only object of worship in the room, the handle of the ancient embedded blade.

"I'm relieved to see you aren't just a story. Neriasis..." the mage approached the disheveled ex-god, his boots making no sound as he did, yet the train of his skirt skiffed quietly against the stone floor. When he arrived, he bowed his head subtly as a gesture of polite respect, "...I need your help."

In the darkness there, the shadows played off of his figure in such a way that is eyes were almost completely blotted out without detail, save the brilliant whites surrounding his small pupils. The air around him was forbidding and heavy, and one could expect such a thing now such as an inquiry of souls or even if he turned into a giant serpent.

"But before I explain what it is I want exactly, I want to know what you want, as your assistance, if you do happen to be of use, ought to be rewarded. My name is Andromalius, Grand Master of Dark Magic, the bane of innocence, the wicked. It is a pleasure to meet you."

At such a close proximity, the winged one would be able to smell the aroma of expired life resurrected. It wasn't a good or a bad scent, merely a scent of mystery, of coming back from a place few knew. Lightly masking it was the odor of old books and dust.

"So then... What can I do for you?"

(( It's fine, I don't really care how long posts are. I just don't wanna have to strain to keep up if they're giant. ))

“I didn’t realize I was part of any stories,” said Neriasis watching the mage. As far as he knew most of the world had forgotten him, not that he had felt like much of the world had known him to begin with. His temple when he’d still had power had always felt the emptiest.

He was curious as to why anyone would need his help. He hadn’t exactly been the most helpful of the gods, and certainly had shown that time and again to the people that knew him. So he wondered what the person could possibly want from the ex-god of order who’d never been much into order in the first place.

“What I want?” asked Neriasis a bit perplexed by the question. It seemed so strange to have anyone ask what he wanted before first telling him what they wanted. He shrugged slightly and nodded lightly in response to Andromalius’ introduction.

He reached out a pale hand, that could very well have rivaled the other’s white skin to brush a stray hair from Andromalius’ face. “What I want is something I doubt you’d be willing to give,” said Neriasis turning his back to the other. No one had, at least in a very long time, been willing to give Neriasis what he desired. It had been part of the reason he wasn’t as emotionally stable as he could have been, in fact he wanted to kill those that had, he felt, betrayed him.

The hand brushing past his face was surprising, yet he didn't flinch, keeping his eyes glued to the one he had come for. Being touched as thus ...it had been a while. It had been a while since anyone had touched him, period, and the sensation was overly severe because of this fact. It lingered enough for the mage to reach up and take his cheek into his hand, attempting to feel another phantom hand hovering.

"Hmm. I see. Not to worry," his hand fell, feet carrying him a constant couple of feet behind Neriasis. "I can still help you. I'm not against it, but know that my soul is a seed of evil. I do not imagine you would wish to involve yourself with me in ...such a way. Regardless," he opened his hands in a broad gesture, "I have an abundance of loyal individuals you may choose from within a library's volume of summons. I think I may know just the one. Come with me. My tower is but half an hour's walk from here. I'll tell you what I want on the way."

Andromalius stepped around to force the ex-god to look at him. Daringly, his own fingers rose, taking his chin into an icy hand, his thumb gently caressing the cheek beneath it.

"Nothing is outside of my grasp to give to you."

Anxiety. This is what it felt like. The fallen's actions had taken him so aback that he could have considered himself quite flustered.

Neriasis turned his head to look behind him at Andromalius, considering the other’s words. How strange he thought, this person seemed very intent to get the ex-god’s help. At least the other seemed intelligent, he knew others that would have been confused to the meaning of his words and his actions.

“I wouldn’t?” asked Neriasis with a dark chuckle, he supposed it would be best not to get involved with this individual in such a way if his soul truly was a seed of evil that could cause problems with Neriasis. “Very well, lead the way,” said Neriasis. It would be good to take a walk and talk, therefore he could get to know the other’s intention and then determine if he really wished to help the other. It would also be great to find a replacement for Sisairen.

Neriasis smirked slightly at Andromalius’ daring move. “Which seems odd,” said Neriasis, “after all I used to have everything.” It was strange to be below his former status and now to find someone who said they could give him anything he desired. Ah well he supposed he'd have to get used to such a feeling again, just so long as he didn't revert to his former life before coming to these lands.

"Yes, I know. But you don't anymore, correct?" the mage turned and headed for the open doorway. The night air felt refreshing. The scene of the stars and the low-hanging moon put him even more at ease.

"Back to what I was saying before, yes, you are a character in a fable. It's truly amazing what you are capable of finding in books. The writers will write about anything. I, myself, am also a fable, which is how a knew that you probably aren't just a figment. The story was too realistic for the fanciful things you typically find in true fictions."

He glanced back to assure he was being followed. This was off to an extremely good start. With Neriasis on his side, little would be able to stop him. This guy was a magcial powerhouse. Kings would fall. The lands will weep blood, crying his name into the sublime darkness... It will happen.

"As for my inquiry. First, let me tell you what was in my fable. Five-hundred years ago, I died. Then I was created. As you have noticed, I am a Banshee, technically a ghost. By the way," he stopped and turned, "Heh. Hah... If you stick around me long enough, you'll see how much of that is ridiculously true. My body becomes intangent from time to time without my will. You're smart enough to figure out what happens to my clothing." Turning back towards his trek, he waved his hand in the air in dismissal, "I don't really care what happens between us, just remember what I said. But anywho~"

Rightly so, he was somewhat baiting the fellow behind him. After all, it had been centuries, and he had been the first in that long amount of time to touch him tenderly.

"I was created with the last breath of the dark goddess. When I awoke, dark magic seemed all too natural for me, and some invisible string of fate was pulling me towards a dream of conquest. I succeeded in taking what you know now as Morrim, but just as I was about to launch my armies into the bordering lands, a white mage imprisoned me for three-hundred years within my tower. I was awoken only recently by a wandering idiot, so I am back to finish the job I started. I want to know if you will help me realize my dream, to strike down those who would pit themselves against me in the most agonizing ways... I want the land to die."

Neriasis nodded his head slightly as he followed Andromalius out into the night air. He truly felt like he was left with nothing. At least nothing of importance, he’d lost his lover to his ‘good’ half, he’d lost his friendship with the only person who had ever been able to put up with his odd behaviors and of course he had lost his godhood. But he did still have power, and that power was enough to get him what he wanted to a certain degree.

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. I don’t know if a lot of my life put into writing could be considered realistic,” said Neriasis. There had been so many strange things to happen in his past that if it were indeed written somewhere if he were to come across the material he might think it was fiction even though he had been there for the events. But nonetheless this person had believed enough of them to come looking for him.

“Sounds fun…for me not so much for you by the sounds of it,” said Neriasis with a slight devious smirk.

He listened to the rest of the mage’s words. Nodding his head occasionally, he could understand such ambition. “When the land is dead then what?” asked Neriasis, it was the only thing he questioned, the only thing that truly mattered. What did one do after their goal was realized? He could understand that burning desire to destroy any and all who stood in ones way, he had a little of that in himself but had yet to act on it for no other reason than he was still at conflict with himself.

"Hmm. You think I could actually succeed in killing everything? Impossible. Even if most of the world were on my side somehow, there will always be those who oppose. Like cockroaches, they'll always survive and slip through the cracks." He slid his hands over a boulder along the path and he continued down towards the foothills. Instead of taking the normal path, however, he slipped onto an obscured one covered by fallen foliage and growing roots.

"I'm a realist, Neriasis. My job will never be done. I suspect if it ever were, being the phantom, the restless soul that I am, I imagine I will rest in peace and curl up into death's embrace like a babe to its mother. This way. Don't trip." He pointed out the roots winding up just enough to catch one's foot.

"So, do you feel like being my head enforcer? Or shall I wander off to find myself another insanely strong fallen god and stop wasting your time?"

The peak of his tower's mountain was above them. It wouldn't be long before they reached the tunnel's entrance.

(( =\ short. ))

Neriasis nodded his head, trying not to laugh at the cockroach bit. “Good,” he said lightly as he followed Andromalius onto the somewhat hidden path, “I’d hate to think you were someone who thought they could do the impossible.” In a way the question had been a way to gauge if this mage was worth lending his powers to. Though he had really wanted to know what one would do if they ever succeeded in such a lofty goal.

Neriasis looked down at that roots at the warning about not tripping, he hadn’t even paid them any mind. The village of his people was hidden within a forest of thick twisting vines, these roots were hardly anything to him and probably why he had over looked them. It was like a second nature to be able to avoid tripping in such terrain for him.

“Nothing ventured nothing gained,” said Neriasis with a light shrug as his way of saying ‘sure’.

"That's delightful to hear! Ensuring you are with me practically ensures my success. Well, you have my entire library to choose from for a companion. Some are entirely obedient, such as my own, others are defiant... and rather powerful. I ask that you do not unleash someone who is capable of leveling the mountains on top of us. Heh."

At last the entrance was in view. Andromalius stepped inside, immediately feeling right at home as dirt ground turned to stone.

"Make yourself at home. The library is this way..." As he continued on, he led the ex-god into the cavernous room and reached to the far wall to draw back the thick black curtain covering the only source of light. It fell. Starlight flooded the area, lighting the enormous collections of tomes along the walls. Erim's books were still on the ground, littering the dark magic area.

"Alright. We have..." the mage swept his hand over a particular book case, "Males, females, genderless, nice, cranky, ornery, birds of paradise, hounds of hell, dragons, demons, angels, behemoths..." Andromalius leaned his back against the adjacent case, waiting for his guest to pick his prize.

“I wouldn’t do that,” said Neriasis, at least not intentionally he wouldn’t. If they were to be of any use to each other than it would be best not to go about leveling mountains on top of the other or themselves in the process. The ex-god was also unsure if he would survive such a thing and wasn’t one to find out such a thing either.

Neriasis followed Andromalius through the entrance and towards the library. He drew his wings close to his back, which he tended to do in environments he was unfamiliar with. After all it was best not to damage the appendages when they were out; he was rather fond of his black feathered wings.

“That’s quite the selection it sounds like,” said Neriasis giving it some thought. “How about a male dragon,” said Neriasis, it seemed like an intriguing choice for Neriasis and would certainly be something new. He’d only once before had dealings with a dragon, a young bronze dragon named Luna. She had been the familiar to the friend of a girl he had tried to posses when he first came to these lands. But that was another story in and of itself.

(is that okay, wasn't sure lol)

((yap iz fine))

"Male dragon?" he looked the winged man up and down with a smile and a raised brow as if to say 'you sure?' Regardless, he searched the shelves and withdrew a somewhat newer-looking book, though it had still seen far better days. "...I have a few, but this one's special. This one's pretty, if you can tolerate his wayward nature... A sage dragon. Name is Gaius."

His talons flipped through the pages rapidly until he arrived at the incantation, whereon he handed the book over and motioned for him to read it.

On the page was an old drawing with ink of a long-necked, European-style, winged reptile. It explained what a Sage Dragon was, including his personal abilities and a warning specifying in terrible handwriting (probably the Dragon's) 'Don't call me if you can't hold an intelligent conversation. Or if you're entirely selfish. Or just ...ever.'

The smirk remained on the mage's face, curious as to see what would come of this.

Neriasis shrugged slightly in a response that said ‘why not?’ Though really it was more of a ‘why the hell not?’ Neriasis liked strange things; well he was a strange thing. After all how often does one come across an ex-god, much less one that was never really in tune with his element to begin with. Well in the beginning he had been but shortly after things had started rolling down hill, but that was neither here nor there.

“I’ve probably dealt with worse,” said Neriasis lightly, and perhaps a bit bitterly. Wayward was probably easier to deal with than the attitudes of the previous people who had occupied spots as his friends.

Neriasis took the book and looked the page over. A slight smile creped across his face at the scribbled hand writing, this would certainly be amusing. He then read the incantation from the page, no novice to the intricate workings of magic.

As the incantation was uttered, green light lit the large room like fireflies leaving streaking tails. Faster and faster they charged each other until the center of the room was ablaze with a brilliant light, spreading what looked to be large wings of jade fire. The light began to consume itself and dim, a figure becoming more and more apparent within the center, much smaller than it's burning silhouette. In fact, it almost looked to be half the size of a man, until the light dimmed enough to reveal the figure kneeling, grassy hair hanging in front of a face which sprouted great yellowed horns.

When the light had completely faded, Andromalius was attempting to get his vision back by rubbing the bridge of his nose. The figure in the center of the room stood, gleaming eyes peering at just who had taken him away from his peaceful existence without a collar. The slitted pupils first fell to the white-haired one, recognizing the face.

"Pfft. You have to be kidding me... Andromalius!" he bellowed. The mage lifted his head and squinted painfully at the draconic entity, who in turn, continued. "We've had this conversation before. You know I-"

"Not me," the Banshee raised his hand to stop him from saying anything he didn't want said aloud. "Meet your new master, Giaus. This is Neriasis." The smirk found its way back to his face almost immediately as an amusing visual came to mind. "Try flaying him. I dare you. Not that I want you flayed, Friend, but I would love to see you beat the wit out of this ass..."

Promptly, a middle finger extended in the mage's direction. Gaius didn't seem to care just who he was in the presence of, only that he was being dragged back into this awful business of semi-slavery.

"And do you know what makes me laugh?" the mage's grin grew broader at the obscene gesture. "He's my new general, so... in a sort of way... I'm your master as well."

By now, Nariasis had been almost forgotten. Andromalius could dance all day with this one, back and forth.

The light was painfully blinding to the light sensitive ex-god. He hated it, it made him want to claw his own eyes out, but luckily he was better than that. He closed the book he was holding and held it with one hand. Then with a disdainful growl he rubbed at his eyes with his free hand to clear the spots away.

Once he had his sight back he looked the new entity over. How interesting he thought to himself, he truthfully hadn’t expected something so…well something to his particular taste in males.

“No one’s attempted to flay me since Menoko,” said Neriasis one wing extending for a moment in a sort of semi-stretch. He certainly did not miss those days on Menoko, although they had been rather interesting. But those had been the years of his life that he had been privy to the whim of a master. Now, and for the longest time, he was master of himself and a few other beings.

"You can't be a partial master, Andromalius. It doesn't work that way," the dragon's head began to hurt with the Banshee's annoying banter. He was finished there. What peaked his interest more was this new guy. Neriasis's aged eyes revealed to him, as far as first impressions went, that he wasn't an idiot. Conceited? Perhaps. He certainly had the physique to be conceited if he wanted to.

The mage to the side turned to leave in order to allow the two to become acquainted. He's haunt one of the many other rooms of his tower for the time being, or play with Erimentha for a while...

The light of the moon which entered through the single window cast a blue haze on him. His eyes were rapidly bouncing up and down the length of his new master, appearing to be sizing him up as no other part of him moved. At last, he strode forward, coming to stand just before the winged one.

"...You look tired," he said matter-of-factly, tilting his head to the side just a bit as he examined from much closer a distance. Gaius wore little in this form only when he wasn't in a public presence, which he had not been, giving a reason for the only stitch on him being the broken and tattered deer skin pants around his bottom half. His toenails, which more resembled talons, clicked quietly on the floor whenever he moved. He smelled of pheramones, clean water, and the hint of warmth, possibly some kind of exotic incense from the place he had left before being called to this dank cave.

Neriasis probably wouldn’t have thought himself conceited, then again who would? He probably was a little bit conceited but he tried not to let that show too much. He wasn’t as cocky as he once was, he could still be cocky if he wanted to or if the mood suited him. Currently his mood was rather docile as he was tired both physically an emotionally.

Neriasis turned his head slightly to watch Andromalius leave before his attention turned back to Gaius. He noticed that the other seemed to be sizing him up, not that he minded, he wouldn’t allow himself to be taken down if a fight were to break out between the two of them; which he hoped it wouldn’t come to.

“Yes well not sleeping does that to a person,” said Neriasis with a light shrug of his shoulders. Maybe with something new, and more promising to distract his mind he might find more restful sleep in the coming days.

"Aw, don't talk to me like I'm a child... There could be many reasons why you look tired that have nothing to do with sleep." A clawed hand landed on the head of his master, where he then realized that they were exactly the same height, and chuckled because he found it oddly amusing.

The reptilian tail behind him lifted and fell playfully. He'd give this one a chance, mostly because he hadn't already blown it. Not to mention it just looked like he needed someone desperately to lean on. Gaius wasn't all crass and emotionless. Far from it. He empathized, and recognized the look of a lonely, empty soul.

"So what's your deal ...Master? What would you have me do that's so imperative that you had me look at that guy's face again?" he was of course referring to Andromalius. The one time he had been summoned by that ghoul wasn't a pleasant one. His arrogance was entirely too obnoxious for this dragon to handle.

The disposition he politely gave to Neriasis was a delicate and gentle one. He was still being way too overly bold to a person he didn't know, but he was also being more cautious than usual. He had already been told that this one was powerful, and he didn't really feel like dieing tonight.

A subtle smile emerged from his lips as his fingertips lightly brushed at the new master's hair, finding it fairly fun to just play with.

Neriasis had to admit that Gaius was right about that. Perhaps it was much more than sleep that gave the ex-god his haggard look and anyone who knew him and the events of his life might have some guess as to the cause or causes of such an appearance. Not that he was about to just tell this dragon his problems. Lately he’d been withdrawn about talking too much about his past to others. As for talking to Gauis like he was a child that had probably been accidental, though it would probably happen again, not because Neriasis was aware of but because that was how he was.

It was a little strange to have someone’s hand on his head, mostly because he was usually taller than the people he associated with but this being was the same height. That also made the hand a little strange, but he didn’t protest to it being there.

“It’s not so much having you do anything than just having you around,” said Neriasis lightly, “all but two of my recent companions have left me, and those two that remain are bound to me.” Well they hadn't so much left him as he had driven them away. It didn't matter now, he realized that he had needed them and he was paying for it now.

"I see," the hand was finally removed, dropping back down to his side to hang lifelessly. "I'll give you a chance ...mostly because you have yet to say or do anything dumb." As he said this, he began to wander away, his arms raising to fold behind his head as he took one bemusedly exaggerated step after the other, back to the center of the room. There, he plopped down indian style, propping an arm up on his knee with the other resting comfortably in his lap. His electric eyes, faintly glowing, glued themselves to his master's feet as he patiently waited for something else to happen, the tip of his tail wagging slowly back and forth behind him.

As a creature as old as himself, he could wait patiently for an extremely long time, being content simply to rest and fall back into his mind. He was growing hungry... He had been on his way to a cattle ranch when he had been summoned.

Companionship. It was a common thing for a summon to be asked to do such things. People were lonely beings, always seeking for others. It was just too convenient to be able to say a couple of words and have an instant companion. His mention of two others was slightly displeasing. If he grew to care about this guy, his jealousy might have him do nothing but makes the lives of these other two miserable. Dragons were known to be hoarders: gold, jewels, pretty maidens, and pretty fellows for that matter.

"Master, my stomach is telling me it's empty..."

“Oh thanks,” said Neriasis a bit sarcastically. It actually was a rather amusing thing for someone to tell him he had yet to say or do anything dumb. Mostly because he was so used to a certain person telling him that he was constantly doing stupid things. Which wasn’t far from the truth he had been doing stupid things in the past but that was then, now he wasn’t so hard headed to do whatever he pleased. Though that wasn’t to say his emotions didn’t still get the best of him from time to time, because they still did and that was usually when he did something stupid.

Neriasis’ other two companions were probably nothing much for Gauis to be concerned about. One after all was the great beast of order that had stuck around with Neriasis even after his fall because they had grown to accept and tolerate each other. They had been bonded for so long that it did not seem right for the gargoyle to just leave his master with the leaving of the spirit of order. Besides that the gargoyle found Neriasis to be amusing at times, and also the beast had found a duty in acting as Neriasis’ conscious when the need arose. The other companion to Neriasis might be a bit more of a pain to Gaius, the small catlike creature named Shenta was more outspoken about Neriasis’ choice in companions and perhaps had grown a bit too attached to his master.

“I suppose we should find you something to eat then,” said Neriasis realizing that he had not eaten in quite sometime either.
