Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

"Yes, I know what you are."

He grinned as she smirked, as if they were telling each other terrible, dirty secrets here in the middle of the street. she admitted to not being a novice. Excellent. Perhaps this alliance will serve well in the future, not quite in the king and queen sense, however.

The excitement of the golden cherub mask upon his face had lost its luster. He felt now might be the only moment he has to bask in what he truly was. Thankfully, this was a festival, so onlookers may only mistake his appearance for a costume. The mask was taken off and hidden somewhere within the confines of his robe. The real face beneath was much more eerily animate, his long locks drifting between his eyes, playing with the fresh air.

"I am called Andromalius. Formerly Grand Master Andromalius the Wicked. I am currently working on regaining my title. You see, roughly four-hundred and fifty years ago, I died. The Goddess of Darkness breathed her last breathe of life unto me, and I awoke as the creature you see before you, with the higher purpose of bending all to my will and covering the world in a sea of blood and anguish." His said all of this very nonchalant, as if he'd told a million people before her. "Three-hundred years ago, I was at the top. I controlled Morrim and had been infecting the neighboring countries of the time until someone with enough power caged me for three centuries in crystal. Recently, some moron sought me, unleashed me, and I have been slowly regaining my power until I can take it all again."

He continued beside her, his hands gesturing wildly as he still seemed abnormally excited.

"I've been attempting to find some kind of literature telling my story, but so far have found none. Seems everyone has forgotten me, which is why I must come back on them all three-fold. Of course, once I am in control, I will need people to aid me in my rule. You seem like a fine candidate. How does an alliance sound?"

He cared little if he was overheard. Right now, the prospect of gaining a useful ally held priority over a couple of not-so-secret secrets leaking. Besides, everyone else was very well hypnotized by the festivities bursting out of every corner.

“It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Grand Master.” She bowed her head once again, giving the man the proper respect that one who held such a title deserved. It wasn’t often that she found pleasure in another’s company, but this creature was slightly different. For one he wasn’t at all human, and that was quite refreshing. She grew tired of dealing with their lack of imagination and constant complaints. A creature of darkness was likely to have a very different character; hopefully one that would be much closer to her own. She would give him due respect now and find the best way to use his talents to her own advantage.

His story was one of curiosity, and the more she could learn about him, the better. “Goddess of Darkness? I should have guessed.” The slight, rolling chuckle masked the relief that she felt at the confirmation that there were not any new black magicians within the area. Though she didn’t personally mind competition, it was the thought of losing that she despised. Anyway the fact that a goddess had created the creature made much more sense to her. “I would love to hear more of your story someday, since it seems any literature has been lost.” She only ever knew of one Goddess of Darkness, but it was possible that she didn’t know everything, no matter how hard she tried to pretend that she did at times. The Goddess that she remembered was Evona, and though they didn’t often deal directly with each other, their paths did cross from time to time. Her own occupation at the time led her down a slightly different path than the one she had now chosen, but everything came together in the end. If she knew then what she knew now, than she probably would have respected Evona on an entirely different level.

But that was all in the past, and the future was looking brighter by the second. An alliance? She didn’t normally play well with others, but she usually found them to lack the intelligence that she desired in her allies. The thought certainly piqued her interested, but she would have to approach with caution. Too many times her alliances had turned out poorly in the past, though generally for whoever else had decided to become her ally. “A alliance sounds probable, but I’m sure you understand that I would need to see what would be in it for me.” Ever so gently she touched her hand to his elbow for a brief moment before withdrawing it to a pocket on her cloak. Her voice was honey smooth with a hint a trill, maybe even a bit too sweet for her. Her expression was half innocence; half calculating. The prospect was exciting, but she didn’t dare get ahead of herself just yet.

He stood erect and proud as she bowed, having not been shown that kind of respect in some time, and absorbed it as a great ego stroking with his arms slithering into the long sleeves of one another. The dark pools of his sharp eyes lingered on her face a bit too long for usual comfort, noting the color of her own eyes. She reminded him of someone, a long long time ago, but he couldn't recall who. All he could recall is that he liked the person. Yet, something was scratching at the back of his mind, a warning perhaps. It was the residue of his fatality, the initial death. Someone who she reminded him of had paved the way for his demise, but that fact was just out of reach in his memories.

"Likewise, it certainly is a pleasure," he grinned, his mouth spreading to give her a rather serpentine smile.

Truthfully, he didn't know how he had come to be. A restless spirit, yes he was, but if it were only that, he would be drifting invisibly on this plane as opposed to his current predicament. Yet, he had no master, so the most probable reason was lain upon the feet of the dark goddess. There was most certainly a reason he was here, unlike the humans who drift through life wondering if their living has any meaning.

"Of course! You take me as an idiot? I would not have proposed if there weren't great things to be for you in my plans. As much as I would like to explain, if any of this leaked, I'm afraid my goal would have a less likely chance of succeeding, so it will have to wait. However, if you are anything like me, it may please you to know that it will be catastrophic. I need people to sit in seats of tremendous power, as well as provide bloody distractions. The poor excuse of a civil war Ashoka has is mere child's play to the havoc I intend on wreaking.

"As of now, I'm here on official business, so now is really neither the time or place, but I would like to invite you to my home in the mountains to discuss these matters where no one will be able to hear us. I can have a servant waiting for you outside in order to guide you to it. It's a lovely place. I think you'd like it."

His head lifted in order to give himself a better view of the surrounding area. The Empress was walking around about this time. He had t locate her before she disappeared back into the palace.

After eating a rather hearty lunch with the woman and child he so reluctantly saved, if you wished to call it that, he continued on his way down a random cobblestone street. The plump woman was rather nice to fix him such a meal and let him bathe because she simply stated that he needed one. Feeling refreshed and rather bored, he strode down a line of shops and tents selling various items, none of which really caught his eye. To his unfortunate dismay, he may just have to work at one of these stalls to get at least some cash flow for the days to come. He’d much rather fight for money than work at a toy shop like the woman had suggested during lunch.

Ravior cloaked himself and put up his hood to block the sun from his eyes. After a brief few moments he stumbled up to a rather wide and long field. A large crowd was gathering in the stands on the western side. On the east was a few gallant knights waving at the crowd and causing much applause and cheering. Several people started to swarm in as the day grew. A muscular man fully clad in crimson noble’s clothes stopped and gave an astonished look at the symbol on Ravior’s cloak. He cleared his throat a few times, yet Ravior paid no attention. “Sir Tivet, Tivet, is that you old friend?” he gently placed a well-worn hand on Ravior’s shoulder. At this, Ravior grabbed his hand and spun around like a wild dog having his tail pulled, then gave a wide-eyed expression to the man he had a hold of.

“I am not my father; he died a few years ago. You look rather familiar, do I know you?” Ravior let go of the man quickly noticing he was a noble and would not like to go to jail at the moment. The nobleman was rather tough looking and didn’t seem to notice the grasp on his own hand. “Ravior, my boy! I’m an old friend of your fathers, Lord Graft, though I’m sad to say I had not heard of his passing. Please let me express my remorse and sorrow for your loss,” he gave a quick bow of the head and continued, “being of noble family, would you mind helping me with the proceedings of this jousting tournament? The Empress herself is supposed to be attending, but has yet to make an appearance. No doubt she is on her way.”

Ravior thought this over; maybe this could be the way to make a quick buck, though he didn’t like using a position to make money. His lack of funds made that decision for him, “Sure, but if you don’t mind, do you think I could get paid for helping around? I don’t mind working for money, helping with the medical squads or helping the knights get ready and suited, whatever helps, I’ve been rather lacking in funds for myself.” The gentleman lifted a brow then dropped it back into position. He knew that death in the family can cause turmoil for some, “No, no! I’m not looking for workers, simply sit next to me as a friend, of course you’ll be up there with royalty, but do not fear. I’ll lend you some money if you need, feel free to return it however you like after the day is over, Sir Ravior,” he threw a stiff hand out to be shook by Ravior. Ravior acknowledged and shook with a nod and thanks.

The nobleman led him to the glorified stage and had him sit next to him in a rather cushiony chair. Several seats were left open; he guessed they were for the Empress and her company. Lord Graft stepped to the front of the platform and pointed his index finger to his throat. A booming voice shot out across the stands to the people and the knights, “The matches will begin shortly, have no fear, and once the Empress has arrived we will begin at once!” He returned to the chair next to Ravior, who was currently trying to get the ringing in his ear to go away.

He wasn’t quite what she had expected. When she had first seen the banshee, after the sight of the body that he threw through the air, she thought he would have been more…vindictive up front. As it was this creature, this man was more graceful and confident than she would have thought possible. He must have had plenty of time to educate himself, for he didn’t seem to be the trouble soul that she tended to cross paths with; more like a demon than a disrupted spirit.

He was highly intelligent, of this she was certain. She could tell by his speech, his movements, his mannerisms; all were very fluid and commanding. And he seemed to know just want to say to catch her interest. She couldn’t help the look of greedy delight that crossed her face at the ideas that he spoke of. Plans of destruction and, more importantly, power, danced through her thoughts. “Bloody distractions, you say? I might know a thing or two about distractions.” Her voice hushed to that of a whisper and her fingers lightly brushed his elbow in an almost playful manner.

She pulled her hand away and noded in agreement as he suspended their conversation for another time. “I understand completely.” Her gaze followed his and glanced down the street towards the edges of the crowd. It didn’t seem like there was anyone around that was paying the pair even the slightest bit of attention, but it would still be safer to speak in peace. She turned her eyes back to his with a small smile. “I would be honored to visit your mountain stronghold. I will let you get back to your business. Please have your servant meet me outside of the main gate in one hour’s time. It might take me that long to navigate my way back through the crowd.” Her smirk merely widened as her eyes flitted back towards the crowds. As much as she wanted to know what his ‘official business’ was, she thought it best to wait it out. The time for talk would come later, and she could afford the patience to wait and let it come.

“If there isn’t anything else, I shall be on my way and let you be on yours.” She took a few tentative steps backwards, keeping her eyes fixed on his, before turning swiftly around and walking away. Her mind was reeling after such an unexpected, and opportunistic, encounter. It had been some time since she had entertained thoughts of mass destruction, and even longer since she had considered forming any sort of pact with another. She knew that the majority of her elation was stemming from the plans and ideas that spiraled around mind, but a little voice at the back of her mind continued to bring her thoughts back to Andi. She was plenty wary of him, to be sure, and she had good reason to be. She only hoped her acting was good enough to keep him intrigued in her; it had been some time since she had exercised her playful banter.

As she playfully danced her fingertips over his arm, a brow raised, soon following a slow, twisted grin. Her touch felt like fire and ice. He couldn't quite put his finger on how she was burning him, but he could care less. Sphynx, the blue-haired beauty. The burning temptress. The center of his thoughts for the next five minutes. She held in her aura a mysticism he had been longing for for a great while. Alas, his elated dreams were soon obliterated by his pessimism. There will be no such king and queen of darkness. It was a ridiculous concept, one that he needed to cast away immediately if he were to utilize her abilities to aid him in the destruction of the world. And so the look of intrigue was replaced by his otherwise stone-faced expression, sharp black eyes glinting off the obnoxious sunlight.

"That is all for now. Everything else can wait, as long as I know I have your attention, my dear," he expertly pulled to his face the golden cherub mask with the flourish of his wrist, then took a low, humbling bow to her. "My servant will be waiting for you. You can't miss him. Good day."

When he erected himself once more, he took a deep breath as if he had been holding it through the entire conversation. Idly, he turned his back to her and scratched at his throat before pondering where the Empress had scampered off to...
