Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

He took a deep breath taking in the stench that the swamp provided, that sickly warm, salty stench that held a hint of metal and dead fish to it. How he loved that fetid stench, he’d grown up with it, been taught the ways of the swamp. He knew how to navigate such dangerous waters, how to survive the crocodiles and the snakes. But what he loved the most was the humidity; that wet, hot humidity that stuck to ones skin like so much bad luck.

But not bad luck for him, no, not this red skinned individual. The humidity was good luck, perfect climate for one of his favorite meals. A nice fat, juicy toad; oh when cooked just right, ah man it was just the best. Best of all they were fairly easy to catch, in fact he’d already bagged two so far. He didn’t need to catch more but he had plans to leave the marsh soon, and was going to stock up on some dried toad jerky, so to speak, before he left.

He knelt down in the muck and started to root around in it for another toad. He found one and quickly gripped it around its middle and pulled it from its resting place and shoved it into the bag he held with the other two. He then stood up, pausing a moment as his ears twitched. He looked around, something had stirred amongst the marshes waters, but he wasn’t sure what. It didn’t feel like anything that normally belonged there. Perhaps just a lost wanderer?

But it did belong here... Well not that it came often. And by 'it' i mean woman and by 'not often' I mean this was the first time in five years that she had graced these putrid lands. She was here with the need to hunt and the swamp held a rare type of deer with succulent, juicy meat that could go for a pretty penny.
Tavael had gotten a tip off from a local butcher but was warned about the people that dwelled here. But she hadn't come across anyone strange so far and wasn't at all worried.
By her side two dogs ran, they where each part wolf - not so good if your taking them for a walk to the park but here, in there element they where powerful allies. There instincts where stunning and, while the two males searched for the ever elusive deer- they had also led the centauress to flocks of cattle, to rabbit warrens and had brought her to prime fishing spots when the female lacked the energy to run any more.

Now they where jogging, the dogs had picked up an odour. A stench that even Tavael could sence. It smelt musty, sweaty, fishy and held a metallic wiff. With quick fingers Tavael pulled off her linen top and bound it across her nose and mouth - centaurs where never afraid of going topless. It was how they lived and the only reason this female wore anything was purely for ease of washing - one top could be washed of blood quicker than her whole body could.
The dogs where silent as they ran, the only trace of them was the ripples in the waters and the scent of sheep they where plastered in - as not to worry the numerous animals here.
Bright blue eyes hovered across the marsh, scanning for activity while her fingers held the sable bow with ease - a bow that not seconds before was slung across her body.

One dog - a dark brown skinny thing - slipped behind the red creature. The other - a strong black haired dog hid in the reeds before the creature. The black dog was snarling, eyes locked onto the red flesh and strange gaze of this... Thing. The brown dog was hidden silent and still - ready to pounce at any moment but aware not to make a sound.
The black dog quite obviously bore more wolfish characteristics, with thick muscles and strong eyes. The brown dog, while strong looking held as much knowledge as a wolf - but not as much of the strength. The two where a perfect combo, one that Tavael would use to her advantage.
She had a plan, she always did. Hers was that when the animal - whatever it could be - ran, the dogs would pounce and then Tavael would leap, grab and arrow and shoot that animal down.

Her light body crouched, hooves sinking slightly deeper into the mud. Tavael could see the creature now, with a red body but could make out no outstanding features. But this didn't scare her as, she grabbed an arrow and primed it ready to hit the creature's spine or stomach with absolute ease.

The crimson angel tensed suddenly. He had lived in these kinds of lands for long enough to know when something was amiss. There was something in the marsh that didn’t belong there. To anyone who had not grown up in swamp like lands the scent of the swamp alone could mask the scent of unwanted visitors, but this individual was able to pick up on a slight scent that seemed strange to him. Foreign almost had it not been for the fact that he had left the sanctity of the swamps before. Sheep? No that couldn’t be right.

He dropped down into a crouch when the big black dog showed itself fangs bared and voice snarling. His body language was like that of a cat, hunched over spine taught against the skin of his back, neck down and between his shoulders. He had two different styles of fighting, one was more catlike and graceful, the other a bit more clumsy due to the use of the two handed sword that was currently strapped across his back. He hardly used the weapon preferring the catlike fighting style his people were known for. Besides that he loved how it felt when his claws tore through the flesh of another living being.

His wings twitched slightly and he flexed his fingers. He doubted this creature was alone. It was a pack animal that much Jazuki was aware of. At the very least he would have the advantage of close quarter combat, the swamp was his home and it’s muck and water hardly hindered his movement like it would these creatures that as far as he could tell, did not belong here.
