SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

I completely wasn't sure where to put this. I'm not requesting a thread and this is not a suggestion. I am filing under 'miscellaneous'.

Subplot! Who wants to join me?

One of those things that just suddenly and very randomly popped into my head. I'm going to tell you why before I tell you what.

-Easy and interesting reason to begin scenarios. Don't you kind of get tired of
coincidentally meeting everyone? Or am I the only one who strains in order to figure
out a good, plausible, believable reason for characters to meet?
    -Character relationships
    -Infinite adventure possibilities
    -Always someone to rp with

Alright, and now the what. Who wants to be in a guild of something? An assassin's guild, a thieve's guild, a mage guild, a group of mercenaries, dragon hunters, whatever. Our characters working together, on missions together, somewhat like good ol' tabletop. And not just two but five or six. Potentially six characters in the same thread (only if we commit to being really active, I suppose).

Ah well. Just a thought. I'm brainstorming. If this is a really bad idea, try not to hold it against any possible future ideas. =D Sometimes they rock, sometimes they stink.

Oh, Sphynx would never join together with other people. She's much to solitary for something like that. Patrick, on the other hand, may consider joining. I'm not sure what he would be interested in. He's my newest char, and I don't have everything figured out for him yet. But I do like the idea of a guild or two. I've never really been opposed to guilds.

And then she was gone, her hips swinging as the knives jostled her thighs, passing by guards with her head held high, a haughty smile upon her lips.

I think Shadow would be the only one to actually join a guild, depending on what it was for. But, unfortunately, I'm not the most active person during classes so... Yeah, I'd probably only really be able to uphold a thread with one or two people at a time, unless others didn't mind waiting. Also, yeah, I'm totally sick of the "I met you randomly" threads, or the "Meet 'n Greet' threads, as I call them.

For the record, I've been waiting for somebody to create a guild of sorts. And, if you do end up creating one, I can make it a joinable group. =)

Well, Sphinx, the idea is also that you can create a new character for it. It's not just applicable for already made ones. I guess that's a big fat 'duh' but I wanted to remind people anyway.

I think... I'm going to have a character attempt to start one anyway. And if it doesn't work, or if the "guild" only acquires like two people, that's fine.

I don't know what it would be of though. I'll make a poll if I can.

Make another character?! I never thought...

No, but really, I'd rather not make another character just yet because I haven't even finished Sphynx's history yet, and I've been working pretty hard on that lately. Once I finish it, then I could try to make another character.

But like I said, depending on what the guild is, Patrick might join. He's my newest character and I don't have all of his personality and traits down yet.

I still think this is a great idea though, even if it isn't something that my character personally becomes involved with. Even if I don't join the guild with one of my characters, they could still interact with the guild/guildmembers in some ways.

That's something I'd be interested in. Like the others said, it would depend on what sort of group you're thinking about making. Soriia is pretty flexible, though. If she stands to make a profit then she'd likely try her hand at it.

As fun as a thieves guild sounds, a mercenary/adventuring party would probably draw the biggest crowd as it would allow for a larger diversity of characters.

When it comes to gathering members, especially those who play antisocial characters, maybe you should consider creating an initial event or plot-point? Players collaborate OOC and find ways to involve their characters. A good way to get around antisocial behavior is to use an external plot device to force the character into the group. The character might not like being there, but stay out of a sense of necessity or obligation.

As for Soriia: ‘Hello unscrupulous mercenary. How about we pay you to be our meat shield?’ works pretty well for getting her involved. And if the characters interact well and the plots persist, maybe Soriia can find a niche and get some of that valued character-development stuff going. xD

If I were to join with a character, it wouldn't be a new one - I have enough characters right now, and I really would prefer not to burden myself further by creating another. I'm flexible with my characters, though, so if a way can be found for any one of them to join, I'm up for it.

I also agree with Soriia. I wouldn't be really exclusive for what the guild allows for members (ie. assassins, thieves, mages, etc.) because you will limit yourself, and if you want at on of people to be involved, well... I think the best way would be to aim for something a tad more open. But that's just my two cents.

    =DDDDDDDDDDD

    Soriia, you are a genius.

    Treasure hunters.

Arcadian and Soriia are already about to go seeking some. Why not leash a few more people in eventually?
