Kara walked placidly, ankle deep, in the pendulum like force of the surf. Gazing out across the horizon, her azure orbs depicted various ships and busy bodies scrambling along docks, and around cargo, selling and trading. She relished in the cool waters, against the warm salt breeze that swept about her form like a caressing hand. She had discarded her ragged, gray travel wrap higher up on the white sands, and now let her long silver white tendrils dance about the wind currents as they so pleased, the sun depicting small bursts of reflected light throughout. She closed her eyes as she stretched her arms out, palms to the sky, and took in the feeling of life and her new freedom. What had once been precaution, was now gone, and so forced her a life amongst others, alive in the world and not secluded in her mountains. Everything was now an adventure, and she was taking it one day at a time... one persona at a time. Reine was overflowing with endless possibilities, and she knew not where to begin, or where it would take her, only the excitement that coursed through her veins. She smiled out at the open water, with its rolling waves and blue-green hue. She was donned in her typical travel garb, and the water had began to crawl up the length of her white skirt, though she showed no mind. In a sudden burst of excitement she tore off down the beach, her long legs carrying her in a graceful bound. Her actions were so very child like, so very innocent. She didn't stop till she reached the first dock. Looking up at the scrambling bodies, she found her way up and amongst them, winding her way in and out and absorbing everything. Her exotic looks drew attention here, but far less than anywhere else. A port was a place of many wild things. Men were hauling goods off to be sold to shops in the city, others were tending to the ship, or loading goods on. Kara fascinated by these sights, with much disregard for rational behavior, decided to wander aboared a random ship at the end of the dock for a better look. ((it’s ridiculously bad, sorry!)) Liron was still feeling queasy. Even though the ship was now back in port and firmly anchored, his legs still quivered a tiny bit, and he was almost positive there was still a greenish cast to his face. But, considering that he'd spent the large part of yesterday heaving up his breakfast over the rail, this was an immense improvement. He was not a sea-going man, had never been one and was never going to be one, and though he’d been on a ship at least several times now, he never seemed to find his ‘sea legs’ as the sailors quite carelessly dubbed it. No, he was strictly a land creature, more comfortable with solid ground beneath his feet than wide open expanses of ocean below him. Which was why he generally tended to avoid ships, and had only been on one approximately five times in the past seventy years. But, there was really no other way to Angkar than by ship, unless one had wings which he most certainly did not, and the trip had been necessary, and so he’d found himself on a boat, an unflattering shad of green coloring his face the entire time he’d been onboard. And of course, after his business had been concluded, he’d needed transportation back home, which had meant yet another boat trip, and another round of seasickness and vomiting over the railing. Thankfully they were back now, but he needed just a few more moment to collect himself. Not to mention his legs were still slightly wobbly and if he took a step he was sure to collapse. After several minutes, he thought he might be mostly recovered. Slowly, he took a few experimental steps forward, releasing the wooden railing that his hands had been so tightly gripping. He didn’t fall down. This was a good sign. Slowly, with his eyes fixated on his feet to make sure they weren’t about to collapse on him, he moved forward, one step after the other. His attention to his feet might have been a good thing for himself, but as a result, he ended up not paying attention to his surroundings and didn’t notice that he was about to bump into someone until he smacked right into them. Stumbling backwards, Liron just barely managed to save himself from landing in an unelegant heap on the deck. His head snapped up the moment he regained his balance, and a dark flush stained his pale cheeks as he saw who he’d bumped into. Oh great. He would have to bump into a woman, and a pretty one at that. No doubt she thought him a complete imbecile, not to mention the world’s most clumsy man. “Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! Are you alright? I didn’t hurt you, did I? I knew I shouldn’t have moved for a little bit longer….” |

[[Not at all! No worries! I'm quite rusty right now so forgive ME lol =] ]] Kara almost floated up the plank connecting the boat to the dock in her overflowing exuberance to explore. She boarded the deck of the ship with a bounce in her step, eyes bright with wonder. She had never been on a ship this large before, her source of travel tended to be a bit more pneumatic. Her immediate attention was drawn up the large, circular affair that was the ships mast. Its colorful blue and white sails were drawn up, the ends getting finishing ties by two crew members sitting gingerly at the ends. With her head in the clouds, she was not aware of what was heading her way until it bummed smack into her. Stepping back to catch her balance from the slight jostle, she turned her attention back to the deck. Before her a man just managed to catch his balance, head snapping up, donned beneath deep ginger locks. She blinked curiously at him not quite sure what had happened yet. Had she ran into him while her eyes were wandering? His cheeks suddenly flushed and before she could finish surmising the events, he was ushering an apology. Azure orbs continued to stare blankly at him, before laughter suddenly broke from her lips. "Oh! Oh no! I am so sorry! I'm sure the fault was all mine, I am quite sure I was not paying any mind to where I was going with my gaze sky-struck. Oh please, I am quite alright! But you good sir, are you alright?" A smile replaced the laugh as she moved forward a step, hands slightly extended as if to help any injured area. Her carefree attitude could not be helped, the day was too infectiously joyful for her to show anything less then a grin. Edited by Kara Arianrhod, Jun 30 2009, 09:51 PM.

He thought he’d offended her, or perhaps struck a nerve by descending to the level of blithering, clumsy idiot. After all, she was tall, graceful, elegance personified, and such a woman as she surely would not have been pleased to have been rammed into by one such as he. The expression on her face, slightly blank, confused as to what he was speaking had made him cringe inside, if only because he believed it to be a sign that she’d been so shocked by his error that she hadn’t yet recovered. But she surprised him, letting out a loose, carefree laugh that rang over the ship and caused not a few heads to turn in their direction, leaving him to be the one at a slight loss. Her words held no trace of offense or irritation, and she seemed to be more concerned over his well-being than hers. Offering her a wan smile, Liron shook his head. He might not have been in tip top shape, but that had nothing to do with her and everything to do with the vessel currently carrying him. “Haha, I’m feeling a little queasy but it’s nothing a quick jaunt on land won’t cure. I still am very sorry; I should have had my eyes staring in front of me rather than having them fixed on the ground. But I’m very glad to hear you’re alright.” Her presence on the ship confused him somewhat. Was she a member of the crew, arriving to help lend a hand? Women generally didn’t form part of the crew onboard, though that might have been a bias that was slowly fading with time. But her outfit, her posture, her very behavior indicated otherwise. There was no particular sense of direction in her walk, a tread that was more like a dance than a purposeful stride. A passenger, come to inspect the ship that would carry her to her destination? Perhaps, though it seemed a mite early to be doing that, as the ship had just pulled into harbor and wouldn’t be sailing for another three or four days at the least. Just a random passerby then? He really couldn’t tell. Then he realized he hadn’t yet introduced himself. “Ah, I’ve forgotten to introduce myself. Another breach of etiquette on my part. I’m Liron. It’s very nice to meet you. Although…I’m curious as to why you’re here. You’re not part of the crew, are you?” |

"Ahhh, Sea Sickness!" She exclaimed, with just a little too much excitement. She had read the symptoms in one of the many books that had once been housed in her grand library, but never witnessed it. It was all very fascinating to her, and she looked at Liron with beaming eyes, quite unlike the lady of status her exterior mannerisms presented. It was true, she had been forgotten for a time now, but she could not seem to shake her courtly formalities, on normal occasions. She was bubbling to the brim at he introduced himself, already trying to deduce which race he belonged to. It was like a game to her, matching this to that. It wasn't hard to figure out however, she was quite versed in acquaintances with fairies, she had lived with them for quite some time after all. Though, he wasn't of the common sort, and much more human-like than she was used to, and much taller. She was flipping through the volumes in her thoughts of descriptions, when she was interrupted by his question. "Err, heh, No..." She said sheepishly, smiling and grasping her hands childishly behind her back. "I suppose you could say curiosity got the better of me, I'm not otherwise affiliated with this vessel in any other form... I've just never had the chance to be aboard one of such proportions before... I'm oftly sorry for my rudeness if this is your ship Sir Liron, it was quite ill-mannered of me to do so." She bowed lightly, "Please forgive me for trespassing." |

She baffled him. There was some innate curiosity that just bubbled out of her, the almost-childlike interior at odds with her woman exterior. Her utterance of ‘sea-sickness’ had been so…enthusiastic, a word generally not associated with excess vomiting over a metal railing. Unless, of course, the word enthusiastic was being used to describe the speed and vigor with which the vomit was spilling forth, and not the mood of the vomiter. And then….she shifted, back into the more familiar semblance of well-mannered, elegant woman. It was all very good, and if Liron had been in his right mind and not still suffering from queasiness, he might have taken the time to try and puzzle out that shift. As it was, he pushed the thought away into the furthest corners of his mind, and leaned forward to hear her explanation. She’d neglected to mention her name or give any indication of who she might be, but it was entirely possible she’d return to the subject later, so he didn’t push her on it, and contented himself with her answer. Unfortunately, it only served to baffle him even more. She actually thought he had some level of command on this ship? Where had she gotten such a ridiculous notion? Wasn’t the fact that he’d been heaving up the contents of his stomach less than hours before enough indication that he was no sailor? Sailors did not suffer from sea sickness. If they did, they were not cut out to be a sailor. Even if that seemingly apparent line of logic had managed to escape her, there was also the fact that he couldn’t tell starboard from port and usually didn’t understand a word the captain said unless it was explicitly spelled out for him. Although, since he hadn’t really been much opportunity to show off his naval knowledge – or rather, lack thereof – he supposed that she wouldn’t have been able to tell from that indicator. Still, it seemed like such an odd conclusion to jump to, at least for him. And now she was even apologizing to him, and he couldn’t decide if he wanted to laugh or cry at the ridiculousness of the entire situation. “Uhhh….It’s really alright. There’s no need to apologize. Much like you, I have no affiliation with this ship; I’m merely a passenger. I know nothing about ships, honestly, so if it was information you were looking for, I’m far from the best person to ask.” A beat of silence. Then: “So now that you’re aboard, what do you think of it?” |

She was glad in a sense that he too, was not part of the ships crew, but fathomed had he been, he could have probably entertained her for hours with sea-stories. She rocked back on her beat feet lightly as she looked around the ship again, summing up the best answer for his question. "It's simply Fascinating...I must travel this way someday!" She said turning her gaze back to him. She smiled. "Why have you come to Reine? Or is it you're returning to Reine?" She asked curiously, but with no less enthusiasm then what she had already been exerting. He could tell she was earnestly interested in his response, and it was not simply a form of small talk. She took an immediate liking to him though they hadn't said much, and maybe if she were lucky, he could show her around Reine and give her something to do- besides wander around aimlessly and break more etiquette. The sun bore down on them with warm fingers that would cause beads of sweat if not for the gentle salt breeze. A gull called out lazily, riding the current up and around one of the masts before swooping towards some treat in the sea. It took her a moment before she realized her fault, and she laughed again, childishly. "Kara...I'm Kara." [[Sorry it's so short >>; I'm slightly on a time crunch, but should be much improved by my next post!]] |

And her enthusiasm was back again, though this time he couldn’t help chuckling at her intense desire to travel on a ship. Although, he was a bit surprised she’d never traveled by ship before. It was a common form of transportation, and quite fast depending on what destination it was one wished to reach, and though it could be a bit pricey at times, it nevertheless remained one of the more efficient modes of transportation. And there was also the fact that there existed quite a few places accessible only by ship. “You’ve never traveled by ship? In that case, I certainly must agree with you. You ought to try it one day. A very…interesting experience.” A pause there, but only because his recurring bouts of seasickness prevented him from labeling it as anything else. It was certainly wasn’t bad; he’d enjoyed his trip greatly while he wasn’t tossing up the contents of his stomach, listening to the sailor’s tales, woven in salty speech. However, considering the large portion of his trip had been spent over the railing, there had been precious few moments of enjoyment. It was getting better slowly though – he didn’t think he’d seen anything apart from the quickly moving surface of the ocean the first time he’d gone on a ship. Then she finally deigned to grace him with her name, and the introduction left a true smile on his face, simply because he was happy to finally have a name to go with the face. Kara the enthusiastic unseasoned ship traveler. Not the most apt of descriptions, but for the moment, it would do perfectly fine. “I’m returning to Reine, actually, from Angkar, where I spent the last month or so. A little bit of business, but mostly pleasure. It was a most…enlightening experience.” Meeting the king had certainly been enlightening, and very informative too. That single meeting had probably dominated his entire trip, but it hadn’t been a bad meeting, so he hadn’t minded. “I think I’ll spend a few days in Reine before I head back home to Madrid. What about you? Are you from around here? Or simply visiting?” |

"Angkar is a very beautiful place I've heard, with a justly King, as I'm told." She responded with a twinge of curiosity lacing her words. She had seemed to settle down, her rocking had stopped, and while her face was still laid with a kindly expression, her smile had returned to a faint trace along her lip line. She wondered what he had meant by 'enlightening' and was about to ask when she thought better of it, and let the matter go. "Ah, it seems a bit silly, but I have not been to Soto before today. So, this is my first time in Reine- and thus, I have never seen Madrid either." She shrugged, the gesture conveying her feelings at how ridiculous it must seem. "You would think one would come to witness such a beautiful view more often when they live in Morrim." Her gaze traveled past him, catching the the sun dancing on the waters surface. And it was beautiful. How she had forgotten the enchantment of the sea, the blue-green hues, both soothing and strong. The salty air, so much different then the chill, thin air of the mountains. "I lived in the Do'suul Mountains for a long time...on business... I tended not to get out much then. So, I decided it was time to get out and see the world. I heard Reine was a place full of life, so hear I am." She smiled at him and tucked a loose silvery-white tendril behind her ear. |

He fought the urge to snort at her words concerning the King of Angkar, not because they were particularly ironic in any way, but simply because of the ridiculous incident he'd had. It had been wholly unexpected, and he still couldn't quite believe he'd treated the King as he would have any ordinary person - an act most other monarchs would have labeled as a capital offense - without realizing who the other had been. Liron was of half a mind to blurt out that he'd met the king, but then decided that she didn't need to hear his tales of incompetency. Besides, as she'd mentioned, this was her first time in Reine, and she didn't need to spend her very first visit having him regale her with tales from his life. "This is your first time in Reine?" He blinked and stared at her, his voice was tinged with surprise, and none of it feigned. Turning his head, he paused in the conversation to take a brief glance at the city below. Reine was a rather large city, and quite popular as a port. Apart from Madrid, it was the first destination anyone went to upon arriving in Soto. Then again, she'd mentioned she'd also never been to Soto before, a fact he found more than a trifling odd. Liron shouldn't have, but she seemed like a woman made for travel and exploration, to suit all that curiosity within her, and not someone bred to spend all her days sitting in one place. Liron shrugged, and then nodded towards the port, currently crawling with life. "Well, if it's your first time here, then you certainly shouldn't be standing here listening to me drone on and on. You should go see the sights. Reine is quite beautiful, and I come and visit often, though my home is technically in Madrid. If you'd like...I can show you around. It's entirely up to you, though." |
