SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

    Name – Arcadian Mentis
    Age – 72
    Gender – Male
    Alignment – Lawful Good
    Social Class – Elven Nobility
    Occupation – Kinaldi Academy Librarian
    Race – Elf
    Weapons – Staff

Physical Appearance – Long, golden blond hair falls in wavy locks and rivulets, past his shoulders, ending at the middle of his back. These locks never seem to tangle and are silky smooth to the touch. This is his most distinguishing feature. Arcadian's face, in the overall shape of a triangle, is soft and gentle with slender up-turned eyes the color of yellow ocher, hidden behind the rectangular frames of glasses. His nose is somewhat pointed, and his lips are full with a complexion of pale peaches. His physique is thin with hands like the legs of spiders, small but quick. Arcadian possesses no real muscle mass, but the lack of fat on his body gives him subtle tone. His facial features are capable of many big expressions, and he walks as if he's on a mission. His voice is a high tenor, flighty and excited. Although his actual age is in the seventies, he only looks mid twenties.

Personality – This elf has a life's goal which influences all aspects of himself, and that is the on-going search for knowledge - all of it, any kind. He is a being of perpetual questions and curiosity. Arcadian is OCD when it comes to organization. The bits of information he deem important are immediately jotted down in a book with blank pages that he carries with him at all times, and then later translated to the book the information belongs to based on what it's informing about. His personal library is enormous. However, all this writing leaves little time for him to go out in the world and make his own experiences. Because of this, he is considered naive and a bit of a hermit. He knows all there is to know about a location, but it's an entirely different story when he's actually there, lost though he knows the streets like the back of his hand. Also, while his formal oration is near perfect - he can recite a story or poem to it's utmost potential or make friends with a king - his common speak and slang is terrible. He's a terrible liar considering he never lies, so he has no experience with it. Lastly, the elf is an attempted pacifist. He has trained in staff fighting and martial arts in order to defend himself, and he does know how to attack, but will not use it unless his or someone who he love's life is at stake. All in all, he's a good, pure fellow with a heart of gold and an awkward disposition.

History – He came from the Erth'netora Forest where he was born into a community of well-to-do Elves within their hidden city. There, his wealthy family provided him with books, taught him how to read, write, and speak, and taught him what it meant to be virtuous. His parents were excellent teachers, which possibly gave him his early addiction to knowledge, and they never spoke to him as if he were a child, always explaining why he could and couldn't do certain things. They would also regale him with stories for far-away lands as well as the horrors of the world beyond their forest.

Really, the worst thing that ever happened to him occurred when he was twelve years old. He would often carry food with him into the forest and lure the animals closer until he was able to touch them. There, he would sit for hours simply enjoying the beauty. It was his highlight of every day, often coming back with stories of the animals he had named. It was during one of these short excursions when the deer in front of him was struck with an arrow and died. He found, moments later, that it had been his cousin to loose the arrow and came crying back to his parents, who gently attempted to explain to him the order of life. While he did understand, he never wanted it to happen in front of him again, and began to stay out of the woods, holed up in his room all day reading books. Aside from the occasional community festivals, all days were spent as such until he reached adulthood and decided that he needed a change. After acquiring his parents' consent through much persuasion, he set out for the outside world.

His travels only got him as far as Morrim. He discovered the Kinaldi Academy and its vast amount of books, and couldn't seem to pry himself away until reading them all. When his continual presence was noticed, as well as his passion for knowledge, he was offered a job as a Librarian at the Academy. He accepted and worked beneath the current head Librarian until the man retired. Arcadian took his place, and has since read every book there. These days, he waits impatiently for the same book merchant to arrive every month to give him something new, but the books are read so quickly and he has begun to feel time slipping away, time for more knowledge to be gained. This depressing sensation has begun to make his mind wander, making him feel as through he should move on from this place to the next. Who knows how many libraries there are in the world? That is a specific bit of information he would really like to know.
