Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Reserved for Tzel;;

She was lying aimlessly in the expanse of sand between the port city of Reine, and the Sedokai ocean. It wasn't her ideal place to be. With the port so close, it attracted numerous people, creating a bustling and thriving city. People were the last thing she wanted to be around. At least, here, here in this small stretch of pure white sand, she was able to obtain somewhat of a solitude.

The wind was a soft gait, just strong enough to cast loose honey colored tendrils about her countenance. Closing her steely orbs she took a deep breath, inhaling the salty air. She opened her eyes to stare up at the vast expanse above her. A fascinating blue, giving purpose to the phrase "forget-me-not", dominated her vision with it's perfect hue; Unmarred by clouds. It was the kind of day a sailor killed for, the kind of day that made you appreciate the life you lived, the kind of day that she wished she was dead for.

Before guilt could claim her entire mood, she immediately chose to chew over the reason she had come to Reine. Hugging to her back snuggly, twin blades rested in their sheaths. They were her faithful companions, next to Kana anyways. She didn't have the means to sharpen them herself, and more or less she wanted them to be done by a professional. Someone who knew how to treat a blade, and could give her the quality she demanded. There were no finer smiths then the one's in Reine. In a port this huge, it was all about who you knew, and how much they charged.

Unfortunately for Raya, she tended not to be on very friendly terms with a variety of people, more specifically- everyone. She only hoped she could find one smith to her standards that didn't have some type of qualm with her.

Pulling herself up slowly, she struggled to her feet. She was exhausted from her trip. She had traveled all the way from Madrid on foot to get here. All she wanted was a hot bath, and perhaps an actual bed for a change. According to where the sun now shown brilliantly in the sky, it seemed it was just a few hours after noon. Sighing she turned her gaze to span the sky, letting out a long mellow pitch whistle. She waited a moment, growing more irritated each second.

'Where is that damn bird?'

The birds circled overhead and Tzel watched them curiously. They were seagulls, Tzel didn’t mind watching the seagulls, it was the ocean that bothered him. Tzel hated the sea, all that murky water and those slimy fish and the dangerous creatures that lurked where you couldn’t see them in that nasty cold water… Tzel saw the rolling waves and shuddered at the thought. Still…. From here, a ways up on the beach… it was a little pretty.

Tzel went back up to looking at the birds only to find himself staring up at a vast blue sky. It seemed the birds had left… There must be danger for them here… probably a bigger bird hiding beyond my range of vision Tzel concluded in his mind. He looked around on the beach, currently squatting on all forms like his many tails signified he was kindred to. He sniffed at the air and smelled the vile sent of the salty air of the sea… Tzel hated the ocean.

Riing up onto two legs he began to walk in a direction, and pick his way around nasty clumps of seaweed, and patches of sand that seemed to have been where something died. Avoiding crab shells and the like. He looked about to see what possibly there could be to see, but was beginning to believe the old fortuneteller lady was wrong. She had said he would find something that interested him on the beach. Tzel had doubted that and presumed it was a safe generic fortune that she used on many if not all people that came to the town. Alas, nothing ventured nothing gained, well at least I can officially claim, human fortune tellers are shams, just as everyone says they are.

It was not long before Tzel would be taking back those words. Upon the ground he saw next to a rock, something that shined. Scampering over to it quickly, the glint of the light having gotten his full attention almost immediately, Tzel stopped near the rock to believe at first it was no more than the remains of a sea shell smashed upon the rocks by a gull. However, as he gave it one last curious glance, it caught his attention. A tiny white orb, Tzel got closer to realize this orb was not as tiny as originally perceived. It was also not simply white. The thing seemed to have other colors to it depending on how the light hit it and slowly Tzel realized what this was. “Wow…” he gasped plucking the ¾” diameter sphere up from amidst the shards of the devoured clam. Holding it up to the light and closer to his me marveled at it for a moment “ A real pearl, and a big one too… what are the odds…

Tzel then lowered the pearl from his line of sight tucking it away in a pocket to look at later when he saw her. The woman clad in black, with golden hair and steely eyes. His three tails swished with curiosity as he saw her looking up at the sky. She rose to her feet and Tzel heard the whistle as she continued to scan the sky above. He saw the sheathed blades crossing her back and his curiosity grew more. Tzel had to find more out about this person that he bore witness to.

Tzel walked across the white sands towards her his tails swishing and swaying with casual intrigue as he approached, his shirtless body feeling the warm rays of the sun on his skin. He drew closer to the woman and smiled brightly. “The sky is the most fascinating shade of blue today is it not? Are you looking for something or just talking it all in?” he stated first greeting her and then making an inquiry, forgoing formal introduction because he was overtaken by his curiosity more than any desire to be polite and proper.

What was taking that damn bird so long? Kana normally had uncanny punctuality when summoned. Seemingly dropping out of thin air from where ever she had wandered off to. That said, it wasn't exactly fair to be cross with her now... not everyone hated days like today.

Just as she had begun to fill her lungs once more, the action of releasing that breath into another whistle was chocked back. Whipping around and drawing a blade in one fluid motion, she came to rest her hostile optics on the one who had spoken out. She wasn't exactly expecting what she was currently looking upon however.

Before her stood a man, of sorts, assuming to be about her age, his bronze chest barred in the bright sunlight. However, his toned flesh was not what was most peculiar about him. He donned a pair of ears, and three matching tails. She had been in this world for some time, she had seen many things, this was new however.

Frigid optics finished assessing the creature before her, before she seemed to deem him no threat. Dropping the arm currently clenching a blade, she responded to him, though her voice was fairly calm, it held a chilling under current.

" Do you have a wish for death? Or do you simply not think before you act? "

Spinning the blade quickly, she sheathed it with expertise and folded her arms across her chest. Well, it really was inevitable so close to the port not to run into someone, or something. Contemplating him behind her cold orbs, she had to admit it could have been worse. Pondering where the hell her companion was once more, she half heartedly answered him.

" It would better serve to be a hideous gray... Not that it is really your business, but I suppose both."

He wouldn't understand why she would rather look upon brooding clouds, then the blazingly beautiful blue above, she wouldn't tell him either, she would just try to forget- though that was always an impossible task. She wasn't being kind, but by typical standards for her, this was being oddly complacent.

She gazed out at the rolling waves and the specks of boats on the horizon before turning back to look at him.

Would he leave from her hostility, or stay?

Tzel stayed where he was.
While he listened to her answers feeling a bit of tension and definitely sensing the hostility behind them,. Tzel was relatively certain if he were closer to the water. He had not flinched at the sight of her blade but simply looked in mild fascination at the speed at which she had drawn it.

"I think plenty, and i don't really want to die right now, I find there is still plenty left for me to do. I figured i was obvious enough that i wasn't in too much danger. I didn't mean to startle you." he replied as if her statement had been a serious question.

"If it is going to be gray it had better be raining, I hate it when the sky teases me like that. Though if it is raining, I'd rather not be here with all the sand. ANd i suppose if you are looking for something then the sky being overcast wouldn't really help you now would it."

Tzel continued to look towards the face of the woman who had responded to him, his tails swishing about a bit more in the sand. "What are you looking for perhaps i can assist you in some way. I mean just earlier today i found something really special, and then i found you, which i guess makes two special things...hey, that means that old bat of a fortune teller was right... but ...i bet it was more of a lucky guess... after all, so far only part of what she said has come true." Tzel then stayed where he was patiently waiting another response from the woman. His hazel eyes more tinted towards green today looked up at her still taking in her face.

Repressing the incredulous look that tried to surface, she continued to gaze at him. Was he dense? Or perhaps mentally challenged? Her questions hadn't exactly been rhetorical, yet a reply that actually addressed them in a serious manner was far from the assumed response. As was the next little onslaught of speech, for he continued on as if sardonic statements were a common place occurrence in general chatter.

'What a completely odd creature....' She thought to herself, debating his response as being borderline idiocy. She wasn't exactly sure how to respond to him after offering his assistance. And when he had, her icy orbs widened but a fraction, practically unnoticeable. Typically by now, her blades would be doing all the talking, or her sarcastic nature was happily tearing apart the poor fool who had thought to address her. It wasn't enough of a shock however to draw her away from habits that were practically ingrained however, and so her words were just as unfriendly as before.

" I don't think I inquired about what kind of weather you like, I don't really care. Nor should you assume that I'm looking for something that would require the sun, or something on this beach for that matter. And even if I were, an over cast day would be far from stopping me."

Her special? That was almost too hard to conceal the laughter that was threatening to bubble up. What an incompetent man. Even more so for seeking fortune tellers. It would be her luck, if not running into someone who was absurdly irritating, (typically being everyone), then it was someone completely delusional. And yet, ironically enough, he wasn't irritating her past what she could handle at the moment.

Just then a shriek emitted from the sky above, calling their attention. turning her prominently hostile gaze sky ward, she finally was contented to find the one she had been calling. Circling down on a current, a pure white speck began to descend upon the two. In a quick drop with the air current, it dashed devastatingly close to Tzel, it's wing tip clipping the side of his face just barley. With practiced ease it set it's self down upon the arm that had been placidly waiting for it. Beady black eyes turned to question the one her master was facing, it's obsidian beak and claws made for ripping and tearing gleaming threateningly in the sunlight.

Raya stroked Kana's chest feathers lightly, to hard to stay cross at the only thing she seemed affectionate for. Indeed the hawk's appearance was almost as unusual as Tzel's, white plumage uncharacteristic for her breed.

Turning her attention back to Tzel, Raya studied him once more with hard eyes. She never took up a companion of human nature. Not that she had really been asked before, she simply preferred it that way. But weighing her circumstances, it was seeming a plausible outcome. She could deny him, dismiss him, and then hurt him if he persisted, or she could accept and hope he knew around Reine better then she did, cutting the time spent amongst the crowded city drastically.

That last time she had been to the Sedokai, she had unfortunately run in with the "goddess". That had been an encounter of interest, but she did not care to see that horrifically annoying woman again. The sooner she was in, the sooner she could get out, and hopefully find some sort of inn for the night.

Taking a breath lightly, she attempted the nicest statement she could summon, hoping the offer was still on the table.

" It would be gratefully helpful if you could lead me to a smith, who had impeccable quality with sharpening my steal.

Tzel felt strange vibes coming from the woman as he watched her. Her face maintained it's disposition but somehow he knew he had affected her, if only for an instant. When she spoke to him again he simply listened again his phase showing himself unphased by the hostility in her words... It was alright to him, everyone had a bad day once in a while.

"Well, you didnt ask but i was simply contributeing to the conversation." Tzel stated in regards to her statement about the weather, it was then that suddenly he heard a faint cry of a bird and his ears perked up straight just in time to hear the shift in the wind. Tzle felt the feather brush his cheek and he looked up at the large bird now perched on the shoulder of the female. "My, my, my... Aren't you a pretty one." Tzel stated remarking on the bird. " Yes you are quite the noble creature with many secrets. Perhaps someday i will get to know a few of them. " Tel spoke addressing the hawk and the hawk alone before turning back to focus on the other female. "I can now see why you were looking at the heavens so intently, who wouldn't be anxious to be reunited with such a beautiful companion. WIth that there was again silence for a brief moment.

Again her steely eyes were met with his own and as she spoke her inquiry of him Tzel was relatively certain he could feel the level of discomfort that had been exerted to say those words. It did not bother him though, not in the slightest. Before anything else Tzel said the one thin first came out of his mouth as what he precieved simple fact. "Your eyes are very pretty." with that he grinned slightly a mischievous smirk upon his face. "I have only been in the village for a few days but after my first night, i have been living under the roof of a most capable blacksmith. I can show you to her if you'd like." Tzel stated, before he began to lead the way along the sandy shores towards the town. "Her name is jade and she is one of the finest sliths i have ever seen, thought to get in, i might have to do a few things for her or on our way there to make things go bye sooner, but you can count on me to help you out." Tzel stated with pride as his tails swished a little more eagerly and he began to lead the way.

Kana stared at the stranger. Pure obsidian orbs gleamed like small abysses, and yet held a depth of a creature much wiser then its counterpart. At Tzel's adoring comments, she ruffled her white plumage, shifting her weight along Raya's forearm contentedly. She didn't seem to be against this new acquaintance.

Raya held back a scoff at the bird's sudden egotism, and held her tounge against lashing out at Tzel. Sycophant wasn't the right word, but it was the first word that came to her mind about him. If he was hoping to gain her sudden approval, he would be surly disappointed. It wasn't just a bad day, as he would soon learn, this is how she was, everyday. Similarly then, everyday was a "bad day".

Not trusting to withhold any of the other comments she had inwardly retorted to him, she merely gave a minor shrug at his statement. Kana was her companion, sharing a common sorrow, the only thing living that was a connection. Proof that it had been real. While the two in comparison seemed polar opposites, one light one dark, the bird was more like Raya then met the immediate eye. She could be just a cold natured as Raya, and most times shared her masters disposition- however, compassion was not so hard forthcoming as was in her master. And so, on days like today, how could one be so cold, when the day was so warm.

Raya thrust her arm upward and Kana took off, back into the vast blue expanse- ready to follow. Raya turned her attention back to Tzel only to let slip her calm reserve and glare even more vehemently at him. It wasn't the first time she had heard that, though since her optics had taken up their icy aura, it was commonly looked past in fear. Deep blue rings circled the iris, composed of light blues, dark blues, and gray- taking up an almost marble like pattern.

If looks could kill, Tzel might well be dead by now. Somehow, she took to simply ignoring what she considered impudence, and took in the rest of what he was saying. The drive to hurt him was growing, but now she needed him, so to speak. Dealing with him or causing a ruckus in the city and having Shadow show up were both poor options, but the later would be much more of a hassle.

'Great, a woman, and one who wants favors...' She thought growing more irritated. It wasn't that she was sexist in the way of who serviced her blades, skill was all that mattered. It was however, more common for her to insult a woman faster and have to deal with the repercussions, than man. Both sex's were irritating on similar levels, but by choice in dealing with cases as this, men were much easier to barter with- though she had no problem in dealing blows to both.

" I count on no one."

She stated coldly, before turning to follow him, her eyes losing none of the fresh hostility backing her already venomous gaze.

Tzel say the look in her eyes and at first the hatred from the other began to sink in…but then, the rings around her eyes caught his attention, and despite the seething spite and ill-will coming from the other, he was too lost in the aesthetic appeal of her eyes. When he took stock of the whole expression he shivered for a second and then smiled slyly. Tzel saw the picture of distrust and hatred, and being an artistic fellow, found it to be an interesting contrast of the surroundings. Rather than deter him she was beginning to intrigue him more and more. He seemed to be lost in her expression her hostility simply becoming an enigma he wished he could unwrap, but knew attempting to do so would simply cause danger and harm to befall him. “Hummmm, intriguing….” he said mostly to himself before looking into her own eyes with his a moment longer and then turning. “his tials swayed absently as he moved along the sandy beach reaching into his pocket and drawing out a single sheet of paper. He began folding it as if he had an idea of sorts…

Tzel was beginning to fold it further and further as he continued to walk slowly a shape took form. It was a small bird. A folded paper bird seemingly roughly inspired by the presence of the other bird that had already returned to the heavens. Tzel set it on his shoulder and looked back to the woman smiling and saying “See, now I’ve got my own bird companion.” As he said this their was a flash of blue flame over the paper construct, that produced no heat, it was a signal showing that he had used his magic. As soon as the flash of flames disappeared the creation began to flap it’s wings and rise into the air. It circled about him a few times and Tzel seemed pleased with his work. Tzel continued onward towards the village his tails swaying a bit as he walked. “That is a safe policy to have when you don’t have anyone to trust… though, it seemed to me that you count on your feathered friend pretty well… then again, I just met you…and I don’t even know your name, so what do I know about you, I am in no place to make assumptions.” He shrugged and continued walking on the sand though his ears were straight up. He knew better than to not be somewhat alert after stating something so potentially personal to someone who could send such a hateful gaze his way. He would be ready to attempt a dodge of sorts if she chose to lash out at him, though this was not at all apparent by his physical stature as he continued to lead the way.

Raya watched him skeptically as his gaze lingered. The lack of personal etiquette he was displaying was truly striking a nerve. When he began to talk to himself as he blatantly stared, he crossed the line into making the situation awkward.

Just as she was on the verge of being able to not handle another moment, he turned away and began leading the way again. She relaxed, though the action was barley noticeable as her eyes still held contempt. She followed behind him, allowing a discrete space between them that would allow easy defense. Her gait, was lithe and swift, graceful in a manner that didn't seem natural.

She watched him warily as she noted the paper he had taken out and began folding. From the angle she was at, she could not see what he was doing, which irked her to no end. When his creation surfaced, she wasn't sure what to make of it. It certainly was not what she had been expecting. The flash of flame was not missed and for a moment Raya, who had already been on edge, almost sent a dagger hurtling through the paper creature. She had heard of Shinigami, paper origami that carried curses. It was clear however, that this was not Tzel's creation.

She could not help but be slightly amused by the small imitation, " Nice trick." Her smooth voice broke the silence that seemed to surround her. As they tracked further along the beach, he too seemed to become more vocal. She listened at his assumptions, they did not however provoke any contentious behavior. That in itself was an interesting feat, and his observation only added to the small tinge of curiosity she had begun to develop about him.

"To assume is a very foolish folly, however, based on your observations as bleak as they may be, they wouldn't be correct, yet they would not be incorrect ither. Where I have an affinity for Kana over all other life, she is but an animal, yet possesses a brain capacity able to place her in a high ranking of intelligence, thus she also has the ability to deceive or what have you for her own benefits. Therefore, we have a bond that is based on a trust understanding of this knowledge."

Raya's voice seemed foreign to the world without a bitter or provocative bite to it. She didn't feel a necessity for any, and in truth, the more she thought about it, though what she said was true, it was also completely false. Kana would never deceive Raya, and Raya would never deceive Kana. Their bond was far to deep. But what did a stranger need to know that for. It was safer to keep Kana at an arms length in appearance.

There was a short silence but for the rolling waves, until she broke it once more with a simple statement.

"You may call me Ice."
