Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Rain hit the ground in large droplets, the norm for a place such as this. The earth was sodden with water, each new drop starting a new puddle that formed in seconds. The trees caught most of the droplets in mid-air, holding onto them until they became too heavy and eventually rolled off of its home and down to join the countless other drops on the landscape below. And yet still, it was a light rain for this area, not pouring so hard it could be called angry, but hard enough that it still soaked one to the bone by just spending countless seconds in its showers.

The tall girl spent her days often wandering through its sheets, immersing herself in the feeling of the water against her skin, in her hair, and basking in the glory of existance. To feel this was a joy she had only recently discovered, often being housed up and kept away from nature and all that was dear to her. Escaping here, however dead and dark it seemed to be, it held a certain solace that she found only in the walls of the ruins. Few ever came here, and the ones that did sought out their own peace, so much that they tended to notice not that she was there. Which was fine with her.

Her feet slowly walked through the muddy earth outside the ruins, guiding herself through trees and on the familiar path towards the ruins. Rain drops fell from the canopy as she moved, finding her body and running down it towards its family in the puddles on the ground. The terrain smoothed out and eventually became stone as she reached the temple ruins, moving forward and seeking shelter in its hallways. Though many walls were ruined, much of the ceiling seemed to remain intact. She continued through the halls, walking slowly as her feet made soft sounds against the wet stone.

A fire lit the ruined temple, the flames dancing upon the wet walls. The remains of an animal's carcass lay strewn over the fire, roasting ever so softly. The succulent meat dripping causing little spurts of fire to sizzle and flare as the wonderful aroma filled the room.

Darius lay resting upon a slab stretched across the ceiling, which held the roof afloat. Picking at his teeth, he wafted in the mouth-watering smell. "Ah, much better. Full stomach and a cozy place to rest whilst I think, what more could a man of my stature and mind-set ask for? Well, quite a bit," he said simply, answering his own question with a frown.

Darius was the kind of man that wished for nothing more but a well-paying job, a woman... or two in his life. Yes, life. It can be quite difficult at this age. Lower twenties and not already settled down, what does that say about a man? Is he not committed? No, he would be if given the choice.

Sounds suddenly echo in the halls as the rain gets heavier. The sound soon turn to footsteps and Quicksilver sits up. Did I gain unwanted attention with the meat roasting? he thought to himself. He pushes himself to a dark corner of the ceiling quietly.

The footsteps grew somewhat louder as the stone turned dry, her wet feet stepping along the paved hallways. Lights danced around the corner in front of her, calling her closer. From where she was she already felt the heat crawling up her body, clinging to her skin and drawing her near. The twenty year old lightly padded down the hallway and to the corner, standing beside the wall and slowly peeking around it, scanning around to find where the source of the light was coming from. Her wet hair fell to her side as she stepped cautiously forward and around the corner, into the light and warmth.

There seemed to be no one around, but the area was far from deserted. A half-eaten carcass was on the fire, very well prepared and very recently cooked. Aside from that, the fire had been recently fed, otherwise it wouldn’t have been burning this brightly or this high. Another piece of meat dropped into the flames, sending a spurt of wounderous smells. Her eyes slowly closed as the scent caught her nose, inhaling the smell and savoring it.

Opening her eyes again, she stepped forward again, the warmth of the fire wrapping around her and enveloping her in a blanket. Her lips curled into a small smile as she felt it before she looked around for other signs of life. What looked like a bag of belongings sat next to the fire, and the rest of the are looked to be the temporary home for the lonely. An unusual place to be, but she could understand it. It was quiet, no one bothered to come here, and once you get past the rain, it was a fine place to be.

Oh, just a woman....A woman?! Lucky me, haha. Darius thought to himself getting a little excited and then calming himself. Not all women are safe and cuddly like he use to think. In Darius's travels, he has met a few - lets say rambunctious - females that were not interested in cuddling or romance. He tried to swoon them, but they retaliate with the usually 'sword-to-throat' technique they all know. Though, he found that sort of arousing, too, in a sense.

Quicksilver watched her stare intently at the carcass, then look to the bag of belongings that were his. Aww crud... He stepped forward making no noice, and then, a wild idea pops into Darius's head.

This will be fun Quicksilver thought with a slight grin. He removed the weapon from his back, still sheathed. Grasping the sheath in his hand, Darius stretched out the handled-end to her back. Three.... two.... one, he counted in his head. On one he prodded her back and yelled "BOO!"

The fire made a crackling noise, tearing her gaze from the belongings to the fire and carcass again. She watched the flames dance for a moment before she took a few steps forward. Whoever had been living here, it seemed they weren’t here now. She wouldn’t touch the carcass, knowing how some people got when it came to their food. She had eaten just before venturing off, so even though the meat looked like such a fine delicacy, she didn’t dare touch it.

Her head turned slightly as she thought she heard something. To her right, behind a fallen wall, stood the open forest, and a large crow sitting upon one of the trees. Its beady eyes were looking her direction, and though it seemed to be looking at her, she couldn’t help but laugh to herself for thinking such a thing. Moments later the black bird opened its wings and took off, sending drops of water spraying across the ground and lifting into the night.

Not two seconds later did she feel something against her back and heard a loud "Boo!" behind her. She jumped forward, turning quickly and bringing a hand around to grab the wrist of the man holding the sheathed weapon. Her other hand came up and nearly knocked him against the side of the head before stopping. She lowered her hands and looked up at the man before her. He didn’t seem to be that much older than she was, and didn’t seem all that threatening. A small smile appeared on her lips before she took a small step backwards.

Darius threw on a shocked face, holding back the laughter as much as possible. Then, with a stern voice said, "What? Not scared? 'Boo' is a very threatening word! Bandits would be shaking in their undergarments at the mere word!" He scrunched up his face and flexed what muscle he had, the gave a small laugh.

Quicksilver gave her a once-over look grasping her graceful appearance. slender with odd features, such as the light blue streaks of hair and two different colored eyes. Some things he's never seen before. Ah, yes, the eyes. They can be the most verbal part of a woman and yet, can speak no words. Some say, the eyes of a woman can trap a mans soul.

He couldn't help but stare at them, taking in what he could. His stern face soon vanished.

Her eyes watched his face as his expressions changed, his eyes holding laughter in them. The stern voice that followed made a small grin grace her lips. Laughter followed moments later as he too laughed. "Bandits shake in their undergarments, do they? And yet here I am, laughing. Wow. That tells you something, doesn’t it?" She smiled before finally glancing him over. It had been her first chance to do so, and since he was there, she thought she might as well have.

The goggles at his neck caught her eye first, something she had never before seen on someone. She scanned his clothing before looking back up at his face, his hair, his eyes. He had a very pale complextion compared to others she had seen, and to herself. But it wasn’t a bad thing. It contrasted very nicely with the darkness of his hair. With the bangs that hung in front of his face. She looked then at his eyes, which seemed to be staring at hers. The soft hazel color went well with his skin.

She raised an eyebrow as she saw the stern look on his face vanish. Tilting her head to the side slightly she couldn’t help it as her hand came up and waved in front of his face. "You alive in there?"

"Alive? Far from it. Well, in a matter of speaking.." He spoke slightly amused, but also not knowing exactly what he meant by it. He broke his gaze and stepped lightly around her and sat near the fire. Darius withdrew his tanfa and started carving at the animal's corpse, slicing small bite-sized pieces to pop in his mouth. He winced at the heat rolling off the delicious meat.

In his soft-spoken tongue, he calls out to her, "So, what brings a young woman like yourself, out to stroll in this... wonderful weather?" He swallowed another piece then looked to her with his hazel eyes. He uses his hand to motion to her to sit with him. "Would you like some? I might not be an excellent cook, but at least I can roast as good as the rest of 'em," he said with a hearty chuckle and strong smile.

The lightness of his speech made her smile, a soft smile filled with amusement. She found herself stepping out of the way as he made his way around her, turning and watching him almost glide across the ground towards the fire. She stepped slightly closer but stopped, watching him, gazing into the fire absentmindedly. Out of the corner of her eye she watched him carve off another piece of meat for himself, though her eyes remained fixed on the dancing flames.

His words broke her eyes away from the flames and she glanced over at him. His hazel eyes caught her own and she stepped forward as he motioned to her. Her feet carried her over to him and she sat comfortably beside him, closing her eyes and relishing in the heat around her. She heard his next words and opened her eyes, looking over at him. His smile brought one of her own and she politely shook her head.

"Wonderful weather." A small laugh escaped her lips. "I often come here to... well, to get away. It’s a real pain being cooped up in one place all day. Whenever I get the chance, I come here." Her eyes turned away from his and she looked back into the fire for a moment before smiling and looking back at him. "I’m sorry if I intruded. I didn’t mean to interrupt anything." She nodded her head towards the fire and the cooking carcass, which to her hinted that she had interrupted a meal.

"You did not intrude, I wouldn't mind the company anyways," he said with a small chuckle. He watched as she averted her gaze to the fire.

Darius reached into his bag of belongings and pulled out a small unused shield, often called a buckler. He then took his blade to the meat, slicing deep criss cross patterns and finally , holding the make-shift plate under the carcass, he cut at an angle creating cube-shaped pieces of meat. After catching it in his buckler, he sat it between them gently.

A wide smile pursued his manly physique as he said, "Don't be afraid, help yourself. It'd be a shame to waste what is left." Quicksilver then began to stare in to the brilliantly colored fire. "I do understand how you feel though, being cooped up and just wanting to get away for a while. Kind of how I ended up here."

His assurance that she hadn't interrupted him made her smile and she turned her head to watch him. He carved off a piece of meat and even though she had refused his offer earlier, still put a piece between them. She glanced down at it before looking up at it. He gave her full permission to eat as much as she want; not something often offered to her. She nodded as he spoke, showing she understood him but still not hungry enough to eat anything.

As he mentioned that it was the same reason he had journeyed there, she looked up at him. She was curious to hear his reasons, but would never ask him to share them without first sharing her own. She nodded and turned to face him more, a way she showed people she was comfortable talking with them. And in the few moments she had known him she realized that she could talk to him with ease. Not about every little secret she had; after all, she had known this man but a few minutes. But talking? That would be fine.

"I've always been confined to one place, making my rounds to make sure everything was safe and whatnot. Never being able to get out and away from responsibility. It is only when the rains get so heavy here that I'm allowed to come, to check on things. But I always come just to relax. No matter how ruined these walls happen to be, and how much death must have happened within them, I always find it rather... peaceful."
