| Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members. Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Concerning the Rules 1.What is Godmoding? Godmoding is the act of having an invincible character. This means that they cannot be struck, can amazingly escape all attacks and death, and strike the other character, giving them no chance to retaliate. Even the gods and goddesses of Elenlond do not have that much power. In any case, it means you’re acting godly. 2.What is Powerplaying? Powerplaying is similar to godmoding. However, instead of being invincible, you are controlling another member’s character as though they were your own. This includes actions that were not stated in the previous post, dialogue that was not said, and spells that were not used. 3.What is Spam? Spamming means to post a bunch of pointless messages to gain money or raise your post count. This annoys members and takes up space on the forum. If you want to spam, please do so in the The Den forum. 4. What is Metagaming? Metagaming is the act of taking OOC information and using it IC. This could include a conversation you had with someone over IM, or the knowledge you took from a character's history. It's fine if you know these things, but when you bring them in IC and your character hasn't heard them for themself, it becomes an issue. You should always react to a person's post with the information your character knows, not the information you know. You should also not edit your post after you have already posted it if someone mentions that they are going to do something different than was originally planned. Concerning Your Character 1.Do I have to post a character picture? No. 2.What about a character description? Yes. 3.I don’t understand how magic works. Can you explain it to me? Magic is not bought or taught at Elenlond. Instead, we allow your character to begin with 5 abilities, which can include spells, skills, or enchantment for your character's items. As you post IC and earn more posts towards your overall account, you will earn consecutively more abilities. 3.What is the difference between IC and OOC? IC – Stands for ‘In Character’. This means you are roleplaying on one of the forums where you write for your character. OOC – Stands for ‘Out of Character’. This means you are either posting in one of the forums where you chat (like A Can of Spam) 4.How many accounts am I allowed? You may have as many accounts as you think you can handle, but you may only have one character on each. Members who were a part of Elenlond before February 29, 2008 may have multiple characters on one account, as this was the original set up. Anybody who has joined after that must have one user to an account unless they have permission from an administrator. Please do not create more than you think you can keep active. Concerning the Abilities System 1. What are Abilities? Abilities are the spells, skills, and enchantments your character may possess. Rather than have a shop system, we have decided to allow members to create these for themselves, to make their experience here as unique as possible. The best way to understand the Abilities System is to read the following topics: Ability Tutorial: Spells, Skills, and Enchantments What Constitutes an Ability? We also strongly encourage you to take a quick peek at other members' character profiles, to see what sorts of abilities they have come up with. 2. What is an 'ability slot'? An ability slot is simply an ability. For example, when you start on the forum, with 0 IC posts, you may have 5 abilities, which would equal 5 ability slots. The term ability and ability slot are interchangeable. 3. What sorts of things need to be made into abilities? The best place to look is in the What Constitutes an Ability? thread. If your idea is not on that list in some way, shape, or form, we advise that you ask a staff member. |
