| Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members. Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Enter Elenlond; Turn the pages and tell your own tale. If you're already a member please log in to your account to access all of our features: |

Your character does not have to be one of these, but if you're looking for a little inspiration, by all means use one. Please note the ones where you must ask for permission and keep in mind that if you choose to make a character who is not of any of these races that you MUST detail that race in your profile before roleplaying. Human – Biped, walks on two feet. Adult humans range in size from 5 feet to 6 feet, and can be taller though that is a rare case. They often live in towns or cities. Elf – Tall, elegant creatures with excellent eyesight and balance. They are a very fair race, living usually in woodland or mountain areas in large elven communities. They make for good archers and can live for centuries at a time. They are immortal but can be slain as any other mortal creature. High Elves - There is another elven variety, slightly different from Edhel. They average at 5 feet high and often weighing just over 100 pounds. They tend to be aloof and are very dexterous. They have pointed ears and tend to be fair-skinned, with dark hair and green eyes. Some humans find them incredibly beautiful. They are also forest dwellers and archers, but rather than being immortal, they are long lived. They may live for thousands of years, but eventually they will die of old age. Most of the elves in the Chaos Kingdom are High Elves. Half-Elf - The second variety of Half-Elf (or half-human, based on perspective), unlike the Elwetritsch, is not sterile. Depending on the parent's views about the other race, they may be accepted or feared. Because the grow up so much more quickly than their elven parents, and their development is a bit slower than that of humans, they often feel displaced, often leaving their homes early. Half-Elves share the adaptability of their human parents with the aloofness of their elven ones, and their appearance varies, having different traits from the elven and human parents. Half-high elves tend to have brown hair and fair skin, half-aquatic elves have greenish skin, and so on. Drow – Dark Elves. Called so not only for the color of their skin but the color of their souls. Much like their fair skinned cousins, the elves, they are immortal unless killed, tall, slender, and have pointed ears. Their skin is grey or black and their hair white. They normally live underground, occasionally coming above ground at night, because their vision is infrared, thusly the sunlight is almost unbearable. Females are the dominant gender, even the lowest female is considered higher than the highest male. They detest and distrust fair-skinned elves more than anything else, for it was they that betrayed the Drow to the underdark. Demon – Creature from negative afterlife, referred to in some cultures as hell. They generally have large, blackened wings and specialize in dark magic. There are hundreds of different types of demons. Angel – Creature from a positive afterlife, referred to in some cultures as heaven. They have beautiful feathery wings and are generally of good. Again, there are hundreds of different types of angels. Vampires – Creatures of the night. Vampires only food is the blood of other creatures. They look just like the creature they were in life, except for their fangs, which are just enlarged canine teeth used for biting their prey. They are pale and nocturnal, despising the sunlight because of their fair skin. Sunlight is the best weapon against such a creature. Garlic has no effect. Werecreature – Any person who transforms at a particular time (generally at the full moon) into a beast. There are thousands of different were creatures. Please PM an admin with the creature your character transforms into if it is NOT a werewolf. Kitsune – Fox-related creatures. They appear human, yet they have the ears and tail(s) of a fox in various colours. The older they are, the more tails they have. They are a species that shapeshift and are an exception to the shapeshifting rule. (If you have information, please PM MidnightShadow) Centaur – Half human, half horse. It has the head and torso of a human and the body of a horse. All Centaurs are Omnivores. They usually find grains and vegetables to eat, but they are also hunters, and search out prey relentlessly. Centaurs have no taboos against nudity, so they most often live completely naked, having fur to warm their lower bodies. Harpy – Half woman, half bird. It has the torso of a woman and the legs, talons, and lower body of a bird. Their arms are their wings. Often vicious creatures. Mermaid – Half human, half fish. They have the torso of a human and the lower body of a fish, the tail shaped much like a dolphin’s or whale’s. In order to come on land, they must first transform their fins into legs. Both men and women tend to refrain from wearing shirts of any sort. Hobbit/Halfling – Think Lord of the Rings (hence why they’re categorized the same). Men and women who range between 3 and 4 feet tall and have pointed ears. They are quick-witted, which makes up for their lack of strength. They never were shoes and have fur on their tough feet. Dwarf – Short and stout, they are generally found in mountains. Their weapon of choice is the ax. Fallen Daemon – (If you have information, please PM MidnightShadow) Not sure but I believe that a fallen Daemon is similar to a fallen angel. A fallen angel is one who does something to lose God’s favor and thus falls from heaven. A rebel who commits a sin. I believe that a fallen daemon is one who falls out of favor with Lucifer, who does good deeds. Orc – Think Lord of the Rings. Once elves, they were corrupted and their bodies distorted and twisted. Range from being stupid to fairly smart. Troll – A rather dense creature that favors the club as its weapon. Tall and large, they smell terrible and eat anything they can get their hands upon. Pixy - Winged creatures. Pixies are usually no larger than a human hand. They usually have red hair and turned up noses and green eyes. They wear closefitting suits, often of bright green, which acts as camouflage in lush pastures and forests. Pixies are malicious tricksters. Their favorite trick is to lead mortals astray, but a traveler through pixie country may easily foil them by wearing their coat inside out. Pixies know how to make powerful poisons from the forests, and how to poison their tiny arrows so that they can even make the largest of creatures fall asleep after only one direct hit. Faery – are a seclusive people, who use their ability to disappear amongst the trees to great effect. Most detest humans with a vengeance, and sometimes enjoy a bit of mischief with them. They are short of stature (no taller than 4 feet), and generally fair in skin colour. They can have a variety of hair and eye colours, though the common ones are green eyes and dark hair. All faeries have wings of different shapes and sizes that can support them in flight. They have a special affinity to the earth and the forest. When a faerie child is born, they are sometimes exchanged for a human baby of the same age. The two children are called Changelings, and the faerie grows up in a human household, often none the wiser. The human child becomes a servant of the faeries. Shapeshifter - Someone who can shapeshift into all creatures. This varies from appearance to creature type, depending on the abilities contained within. They can shapeshift rapidly between forms, and are generally incredibly powerful. Animagus - Can transform into only one creature. This creature can be of any species. Very similar to a Shapeshifter, their only difference is the amount of creatures they may transform into. Elwetritsch, also know as Half-Elf or in Elven communities Half-Human - A strange mix of Human and Elf. They must be created by the interbreeding of one Human and one Elf, it doesn't matter which gender each of the people are, except that one must be female and the other male. The child born is a mix of both races, yet not exactly a race of its own. The reason the Elwetritsch cannot be a race of its own is that every Elwetritsch is sterile. This is similar to a donkey and a horse siring a mule. They cannot breed, so the line ends there. Obviously, they are somewhat rare. This interbreeding is seen by both species involved as disappointing. The Elves are particularly disgusted, seeing Humans as inferior, but somewhat understanding, knowing the nature of love. Humans usually fill with hatred and fear, not knowing what to expect from such a child. Humans often kill Elwetritsch children. This fear has often created terrible tales of the Elwetritsch. Such tales usually begin with the forbidden love of Human and Elf, a child being born either horribly disfigured or evil and later killing the parents and surrounding neighbors until it is hunted down and killed. They have no formed society, as they cannot procreate, and have no surviving culture of their own. Sometimes they are taken in by Elven communities, being cared for by either the single Elven parent or the couple if the Human parent is accepted. Rarely are they taken in by a Human village, but it is possible. They often either live away from towns, hiding in the forests and woodlands, or are abandoned by their parents. Abandoned Elwetritsch children have little hope of survival. Physically, Elwetritsch stand about five feet tall, are relatively thin, and have very soft features. Their ears are somewhat pointed and long, but definitely not Elvish. Fauns - Graceful, woodland creatures. They are beautiful, musical, and magical. They know nothing of evil and ugliness, don't understand lies, and think that eating the flesh of another animal is inconceivable. They love singing and playing music, love capering and dancing, and spending warm summer days in the sun. Physically, they are small, slight people. Their upper bodies are human, and their lower bodies are that of a goat, although they do walk upright. They have tails, and usually either brown or black fur. The hair on their upper bodies usually matches the same color as that on their lower bodies. They have two short but sharp horns on their heads, and pointed ears like an elf. As for clothing, fauns rarely wear any, as they are natural creatures. Fauns usually live in herds, ranging from ten to over one hundred. They live in the woods gathering food and enjoying themselves. They sleep outdoors, and even feel uncomfortable entering a house or enclosed space. In winter, they either move southwards to avoid too much snow and cold, or stay beneath spruce and pine trees, or sneak into hibernating animals caves and cuddle up with them for warmth. The Fauns are known for the beautiful music they can play on their Shawms. They are very musical people and often master four or five instruments apiece. They are also very fond of presenting short plays on a small hill for a stage. Rarely, humans may watch, but the Fauns get nervous in front of non-Fauns, so the performances are never as good. Fauns are fluent in Common and Elven, but have no specific language of their own. They do have a few secret calls, like a warning call, that are undecipherable to human ears. People often dislike Fauns. This is most often caused by the bad reputation their more sociable cousins, the Satyrs, have gained. If anyone specifically knows that the Fauns are different, they will not get the bad reaction roll, but most people think of Fauns and Satyrs as the same race. Satyrs - Not the graceful, woodland creatures fauns are. In fact, they are very different. They do love nature, but they also are wild, drunken partiers who often cause disasters just by their lack of restraint. They are often sexually motivated, and outright rude to those of their own gender, while "making the moves" on a member of the opposite sex. Physically, they are human sized, very muscular and hairy. Their upper bodies are human, and their lower bodies are that of a goat, although they do walk upright. They have tails, and either brown or black fur. The hair on their upper bodies usually matches the same color as that on their lower bodies. They have two short but sharp horns on their heads, and pointed ears like an elf. As for clothing, satyrs rarely wear any. They are natural creatures, and have no taboos against nudity. Unlike the herding Fauns, they usually stay on their own, surviving as best they can in an alcoholic haze. They either live near townships or build stills, regardless, they always need to be around alcohol. They live in mountainous regions, occasionally moving to the forests, but usually living in caves. Although they love the mountains, they often move away from them, for reasons of love (or sex) or alcohol, but they never stop missing the mountains. While in the forests, some find love with tree nymphs (Dryads and other sorts, male and female) and even manage to settle down their lecherous urges for monogamy. Some even fight off their alcoholism, but this is rare, and most often they are very old before they muster the strength to do it. The satyr is known for the beautiful music they can play on their Syrinxes. They are very musical people and often master four or five instruments apiece. Satyrs are fluent in Common and Elven, but have no specific language of their own. They do have a few secret calls, like a warning call, that are undecipherable to human ears. They can understand the Faun calls as well. People often dislike Satyrs, for obvious reasons. Apart from being ugly, bizarre creatures, they are lecherous and drunks, and have a penchant for causing trouble. Wherever a Satyr goes, it is likely that some disaster will follow, especially as the Satyr races into the woods to safety. Ophites - A race of lizard-like humanoids. They stand usually six and a half to seven feet in height, and very muscular. They stand on their hind legs, and use their long tails as balance support. They are normally green in color, but their scales do come in different shades. They have wide, flat heads with widely separated eyes, which give them the advantage of peripheral vision, almost to the point of being able to see all the way around them. They normally wear loincloths, possibly robes for religious ceremonies. The warriors have been known to wear some armor, but rarely metal armor. They often wear metal wristbands, shin plates, and "collars" into battle, and the collars are also ornamental. Rings and armbands are also popular, and since the Ophite people tend to have large amounts of gold, this is their main ornamental metal. Ophites regularly eat their enemies. Anthro - A creature that is half human half animal. They posses a few skills of the animal, and few skills of the human to make up their abilities. Anthros have some features from the animal such as a tail, ears, wings, and eyes. When born, they do not posses magic, just fighting skills and common knowledge.
