"So you say. I'd like to see you face a deity - might be rather amusing. I assure you we're not all pushovers." Whether she was referring to herself or the gentler deities who ruled over Esiria and Soare wasn't known. Granted, some had fallen since the time of their intial arrival to the New World, but most were still there, and not all were blood-thirsty and interested only in themselves. When he revealed his name to her, Shadow's pace slowed, her eyebrows knotted as she stared hard at him. She did, in fact, come to a complete stop and stared at his slow, retreating figure with a certain amount of consternation. "Galarod...?" The name was a whisper, nothing more. She hadn't known him particularly well, but enough that his name brought forth a surge of memories - of people, of places, and of events that had long since passed and that had, in some way, affected her some time ago. Shadow jogged to catch up, coming to walk in step with him once again. She was silent as she listened to him discuss Kenna, missed the way he treated and thought of these 'dignitary' meetings. What did she care? Although she was an ambassador for her Kingdom, meetings bored her nearly to tears and it was all anyone could do to keep her from fidgeting restlessly. She had known Kenna slightly better than she had Galarod, but she couldn't recall him ever being a Messenger. Or perhaps I simply didn't pay enough attention... Those last few months are all still a blur. "You learn to ignore those who treat you differently, or who want to idolize you; you learn to be who you are rather than something you're not. At least, I did. People can hail me as their Goddess and bow before me, but at the end of the day, I'll still just be Shadow." She smiled, although it was only slight. "It's a habit... If I'd thought you'd hurt me, I probably would have stabbed you first. Better to be safe than sorry." At this the shapeshift grinned wide. Her thoughts turned from herself to him as she glanced in his general direction again. "What's with the name change? And the change in hair colour? Felt like being somebody else for a change?" Shadow couldn't quite remember what he looked like exactly, but she knew there had been numerous changes, however small. |
