((Whoa, late reply. MY BAD. SORRY.)) The light uneasiness pressing gently against his shoulders grew heavier and heavier with each passing minute, each pair of eyes that swiveled in their direction and remained firmly affixed on the two figures, one dark one light, standing in the middle of the plaza. Liron hadn’t expected to garner so much attention – hadn’t expected to receive any, actually – and even though those sets of eyes were planted on the navy-haired giant before him, he couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. It would have been alright if they were momentary stares, which truth be told most of them were, but a few citizens had paused in their activities to watch them, and their gazes held something close to reverence, which made Liron positive that there was something he was missing, some piece of the puzzle that hadn’t found its place just yet. He knew this man before him was no average commoner, for no commoner, no matter how rich, would toss around money as if it were sand. Some sort of nobility seemed like the most reasonable guess, but as for his exact place in the social hierarchy…the ginger-haired man couldn’t quite say. At the other man’s question, Liron chucked faintly, some of the tension inside diffusing. No matter how high up this man was, he was still treating Liron like an equal – well, not quite, but close enough – which was more that a lot of the nobles Liron had chanced upon. He was bright too, catching up on the otherness that gifted him with his longer-than-natural lifespan. A good man, one who seemed to care for the people, and that in itself left Liron with a favorable impression. “Some seven decades now, give or take a few years. It’s been a long time, and a little over ten years of that was spent in the music school in Kinaldi, where I got most of my formal education.” A wonderful ten years of his life that would have been longer had he not set the violin down and turned to less altruistic pursuits. He regretted that decision now, but he couldn’t turn back time, no matter how much he wished. But, as the man mentioned, it was a different place, a different time, and there was no point lingering on it now. “Edificion Dominici?” The name was familiar, and he thought he’d seen a few pieces by the composer a while back, but he’d never formally studied it. It hadn’t been the type of music he’d been trained towards, as he was a favorer of classics, and anything that deviated from that stream was something he’d never taken the time to learn. Oh, he’d played a few more contemporary pieces now and then for the sheer joy of it, but when it was all said and done, classical pieces were what he excelled at. “I’ve heard of him…Hmm, give me a second.” Flexing his fingers, he brought the violin back up to rest on his shoulders, and attempted to play one of the pieces he thought he might be able to remember though. However, the notes were rusty in his mind, and his fingers couldn’t move quite fast enough, contemporary violin requiring a different set of skills that baroque, so he gave up after about twenty measures and offered the other a chagrined smile. “Sorry, I’m afraid I butchered that quite terribly. Ah well. To each his own. Oh, I never did introduce myself. I’m Liron. It’s very nice to meet you.” |
