With his eyes closed and his attention focused on the lilting crescendos of his melody, Liron was not aware that he had attracted an audience until a voice, deep and strong, interrupted his thoughts upon the culmination of his song. Opening his eyes, Liron was slightly taken aback by the figure standing before him, as well the as rather shiny coin being offered to him. It had been a shorter piece and not written with the intention of showing off any particular skill, so Liron hadn’t really expected any particular praise of it, and certainly not monetary compensation from a man who gave the appearance of being more familiar with a horse and hunting attire rather than the crescendos and diminuendos of a violin piece. Liron was not a small man, evening out at a little over six feet, but this man made him feet short, standing a good five or so inches above the half-Fae. He was also well built and sturdy where the Fae was slender, and possessed a stunning mane of blue-black hair that any woman, vain or not, would have killed to have. Quite possibly the only thing the two shared in common were green eyes. And even then, the man had the brightest pair Liron had ever seen. There was just something so… noble about the way he looked and the way he carried himself. Though maybe that was just him, since as the ginger-haired man peered around, no one else seemed to be half as fazed as he was. They were merely going about their business, though a few kept sneaking peeks here and there. Which made Liron wonder…was there something about this man that he wasn’t quite getting? In any case, none of it really signified anyway. He should just be thankful that he’d been given a compliment, rather that criticism. Graciously, he took the coin from the man’s hands, green eyes widening slightly as he noticed its value. This was….unusual, to say the least. But, he was hardly going to complain. So he tucked it away in his pocket, and offered the stranger a thankful smile. Part of him felt urged to put his violin away, but that would have required him to bend down, and then he would have had to crane his neck upwards to watch the abnormally tall stranger. Instead, he let his arms falls to his side, violin clutched tightly but comfortably around the neck. “Thank you, sir, but I’m really not all that good.” Humility was a virtue, not a sin, and in any case, his words had been true enough. He might be better than most, but if he were all that good, he’d be sitting in some king’s court, playing for the highest ranking members of nobility. Which, truth be told, frightened him slightly. He had no wish to be someone’s pet, so it was probably for the best that he wasn’t quite good enough. “I have been playing since I was six, though, which is quite a long ways ago, so I would like to think that I’m at least halfway decent. But I enjoy it, and always have. Music is a big part of my life. I assume you enjoy music as well? You don’t seem like it though, if you don’t mind me saying.” |
