King of Angkar

The midday Ankgar sun beats down on the city square heating the stone pathway to a temperature that would be unbearable were anyone crazy enough to try and walk on it in bare feet. People bustle about and money flies about as the citizens of Ildri and tourists alike purchase wares from the merchants and street vendors, and tip the street performers who perform their craft particularly well. And their king walks among them, eager to see and partake in the culture of his land, to live in Ankgar, not just rule over it. Many of the people either know that he prefers not to have fanfare made over his presence, or are otherwise too awestruck or nervous to make his presence a big deal. It certainly can not be because no one has noticed, fo rhe cuts a striking figure among the townspeople, standing a a great height, navy blue hair reaching to his waist, and garbed in a black robe covered in blood-red tribal designs. One particular performer catches his attention, it is an elvish-looking man playing an upbeat folk song on a violin. The king wanders over towards this man, noticing that he does not seem familiar in the least, nor does he dress like most of the citizens of Ankgar. He stands in front of him, and waits for him to finish the song before handing him a coin of a high denominational value, not extravagant, but just high enough to be slightly unusual, and speaks to him. "I must say, you play quite well, stranger... how long have you been playing?" |
