King of Angkar

The king raises an eyebrow as she utters her refusal once more. How hard is it, really, to stay out of trouble? Surely she has better things to do? Surely she doesn't get some sick, twisted enjoyment out of being in there? But it's no matter. As fascinating as she is, he has business to attend to. "I see... Well that is where you are wrong. To use the old adage many children have suffered under at the hands of their parents... my house, my rules. And this entire island is, as it were, my house. Therefore... I don't see where you really have a choice. But it seems you've made your decision. So there's nothing I can do but leave you here until I know you won't be trying to make any destructive rampages across my kingdom." With that the king turns and makes his way towards the door, about to take his leave. But as he reaches the door, he stops, turns around, and takes a couple steps back. "You know, you appear to have quite the 'Might Makes Right' mentality. You said something about how a race who is superior, or more powerful, makes the rules... Well maybe whatever you are is born stronger than humans. But we do have one thing going for us: our ability to adapt. Through hard work and discipline, we can learn to possess amazing power. There are dozens of humans in this very building who wield the ability to destroy you as soon as look at you. And there are many more being in the world who could destroy any one of them just as easily. Nobody is as superior as they like to believe. There is always someone superior to you, in some way. Be it strength, magic, intellect, or wisdom... And for the one who has all.... Surely they can't expect to stand alone against the world forever. So remember... you aren't as superior as you think you are. And that arrogance will be your undoing... Like it almost was for me." |
