Yasuko Morikawa Age - 15 Birthday - July 16 Hair - Black Eyes - Brown (regularly wears Red contacts) Race - Japanese Complexion - Pale Height - 1.5 meters Weight - 45 kilograms Sex - Female Day Job - Student After School Activities - Drama Club Casting Call (close enough) Description: Standing a slight 1.5 meters and weighing in at 45 kilos, Yasuko comes packed in a small package. Her complexion is naturally pale, and although she rarely bothers with make-up outside of the theatre space, on the rare occasions she does, she prefers even paler shades enhanced by black highlights for her eyes and lips. Her eyes are naturally brown, however she wears prescription contacts for slight near-sightedness which are tinted red. She has a wide selection of very pretty black skirts and dresses (and a few pastel ones she refuses to acknowledge), but typically wears black jeans, heavy-duty black boots, a slightly oversized black t-shirt, and a pair of fingerless black stretchy gloves. The outfit is purposefully utilitarian, so as to not get in the way when she is running around school (or town) or working on set construction with the drama club. Her medium-length black hair is typically pulled back into a loose ponytail or occasionally hidden under a black baseball cap. Jewellery is usually limited to a simple silver ankh necklace inherited from her mother. All of this, combined with her flat chest (so much so she rarely even bothers with anything resembling a bra), leads her to regularly be mistaken for an abnormally pretty teen boy (which, much to her chagrin, leads to hoards of girls regularly pursuing her attentions). Personality: Yasuko is a fairly friendly person, however she is shy and slow to trust new people with much of her story. Once she has grown attached to someone, however, she is fiercely loyal. She has a dramatic streak a mile long, and loves the theatre and all it entails. This can lead her to take things a bit over the top from time to time. She is also fiercely proud, and will not tolerate insults to her or those she considers her friends, flying into a blind rage and pummelling the offender into submission along with anyone who gets in her way (except her friends, of course). She loves the ancient and the occult and is not above letting her macabre ideas out to play, which, combined with her often grim outlook, has gottern her accused of witchcraft more than once. Overall, though, she is a sweet, lonely girl, who really just wants a friend who likes her for who she is. Background: The daughter of a pair of university professors, Yasuko grew up in a small house on the outskirts of Tokyo. Her father, Yuskei, taught Literature courses at Tokyo Univeristy, while her mother, Yumiko, taught graduate studies in archeology. Her early life was pretty peaceful, and Yasuko was a beautiful, smart, active, and loving child. Things took a sharp turn for the worst on her nineth birthday. Yasuko's mother had been selected to be a part of a multi-national team unearthing a new tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. She was on her way home for Yasuko's birthday when her plane lost power and crashed into the Saudi Arabian desert. The day of Yasuko's birthday, she and her father recieved a small package in which was packed a short letter informing them of the crash, and Yumiko's surviving personal effects. Among the contents was a small, slightly singed box wrapped in tattered foil and tied with burned ribbon, holding a silver Ankh on a matching chain. Life was never really the same in their home. Yuskei, overcome with grief, turned to alcohol. Yasuko was left to fend for herself. She spent the next five years going to school, taking care of herself and her father, and trying her best to keep the house in decent living condition. With life as grim as can be, she turned to fantasy in any form she could. Reading, writing, theatre, art, film, music, and comupter games, she did all of it to avoid the crushing depression of home. Without her mother to guide her or teach her about growing up, Yasuko's natural tomboyish nature grew stronger and stronger, to the point where it was hard for most people to tell what gender she even was, especially since even her friends tended to call her by her surname, Morikawa, or "Mori" for short. This by no means meant she wasn't attractive, however she only seemed to attract the wrong gender. This made her very unpopular among the guys at her school, especially the ones on the disciplinary squad, who hated the way she seemed to flaunt traditional values and blurred the gender lines (not to mention jealousy over the attention of all the girls). The boys picked on her a lot and as they got older, the teasing first became cruel mocking then grew into violent physical intimidation. Yasuko didn't take things passively, though, and regularly fought back twice as violently. The Chrismas after she turned fourteen, the last scraps of normalcy fell away from her life. On his way home from the university staff Christmas party, Yuskei, highly inebriated, crashed his car through a guardrail and tumbled down the slope beyond, sinking into the water below. Yasuko was alone in the world. Her father had left her the house and the contents of his anemic savings account, and granted guardianship to her uncle, Naoto Watanabe. Her uncle was glad to have her, but his wife Aiko didn't feel the same way. Aiko resented Yasuko for taking time, space and resources she would have rather spent on her own teenage daughter Yukiko. Yukiko, for her part, devoted as much time as possible to making Yasuko's life even more miserable. After less than two months, Yasuko sat down with her uncle Naoto to talk about what to do. They decided it would probably be best for Yasuko to move back home. Naoto didn't want to completely abandon her, though, and decided the best thing he could do was provide her with a small expense account to cover basic bills and groceries until she graduates high school. Despite everything, Yasuko is still looking forward to school this year. After all, it's not like she has anything left to lose. Edited by sabeinor, Apr 14 2013, 11:24 AM.
