Answered this on tumblr; http://astoryofalove.tumblr.com/post/108331504090/so-what-questions-did-the-end-of-kh-answer-about

Cloti

So what questions did the end of KH answer about Cloud and Aerith's relationship? And how does that quote show that Nomura put them in KH to "be together"? *shrug* You seem to be making an awful lot over a few seconds where nothing happens.

It’s funny, you say we’re making ‘an awful lot’ out of just a ‘few seconds’ but here you are sending anon messages over these ‘few seconds’ that supposedly means ‘nothing’.

Look at the interview again, anon;

Quote:

Question: What was the thought behind bringing back Aeris [in Kingdom Hearts]?

Nomura: Yes, she died in Final Fantasy VII, but there’s no real relation to where she was at or what role she played in FFVII. There’s no relationship from FFVII to the Kingdom Hearts stories. I consider them separate stories.But if you play Kingdom Hearts, toward the end, some of the questions about the relationship between Cloud and Aeris in FFVII might be answered. It’s sort of like a side story, and this was an extra bonus that I wanted to give to players. ~Official U.S. Playstation Magazine; October, 2002, page 139-140

Pay attention to the bold sentence please. Nomura first starts by saying that KINGDOM HEARTS does not give a clear explanation of where Aerith was at or what role Aerith played in FINAL FANTASY VII (it IS a side-story after all).

Nomura then continues on and says that if you play until the end of KH1 the questions that viewers might have in regards to who Aerith was and what role she played in FINAL FANTASY VII could be answered.

Once more, he finishes by saying that the ending would explain who Aerith was and what role she played in VII.

Now, keeping all of that in mind, in the ending you see Cloud reuniting with Aerith (after being separated from her since fleeing Radiant Garden when they were younger) and literally 'being with' her.

Now, anon—how does *that* ending *answer* the question; ‘what role did Aerith play in VII’?

Can you answer that for us?

Again, when speaking about Aerith’s *role*, Nomura said that the ending where Cloud finds Aerith could answer what *role* Aerith played *IN* FF7.

What is being shown in KH1’s ending? Cloud is shown reuniting with Aerith.

Now either Cloud is;

A.) reunited with Aerith at the end of FFVII

B.) wanted to reunite with Aerith in FFVII

or

C.) Nomura is using a game about ‘connections' to show the viewers that Cloud and Aerith were romantically ‘together' in the original game.

Either way, clerith wins.

I'm still dumbfounded that some Cloti sent an ask about this. I swear, the level of denial is extraordinary.

Although Nomura stated that the stories of Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts are separate, he specifically says that what takes place during the ending of Kingdom Hearts might help answer some questions about what type of relationship Cloud and Aerith have. So although the stories are separate, Kingdom Hearts provides commentary on the type of relationship Cloud and Aerith have in Final Fantasy VII.

And according to Cloti's, obviously this ending was meant to show Cloud and Aerith's friendship.

:lmao:

That's a perfect way to say it! Can you send that as an ask so I can publish it?

Word.

It seems so strange to deny something SO obvious. Either Nomura is meaning to say Cloud;

A.) reunited with Aerith at the end of FFVII

B.) wanted to reunite with Aerith in FFVII

or

C.) Nomura is using a game about ‘connections' to show the viewers that Cloud and Aerith were romantically ‘together' in the original game.

If not the answers above, what does the KH ending answer? It has to be one of the above and either way, Clerith wins.

You know, if someone would want to get "technical"(or whatever you'd like to call it) about this, didn't people also make a big deal on Tifa trying to look for Cloud in Ansem's study? I'm sure that there were, and quite literally, nothing all that important happens, either. What's the point of commenting about Aeris and Cloud reuniting at the end of the first Kingdom Hearts, when the majority of the scenes that involve Tifa in Kingdom Hearts II seems to have nothing happening. (Or, at least, the last time I've played Kingdom Hearts II, anyway.) Am I missing something?

Might be a bit off-topic, I guess, but I don't understand.

Believer in what should have been
In a way really then we should not be using KH as a souce of info on cloud and aerith to be fair after all they are separate stories and nomura does say it MIGHT help..as in it gives us some ideas or things to work with sure BUT it is nothing concreat and is not how we should be reading into for FF7.

A admit am not a fan of the KH games, never have been...not a fan of disney lol , i blame that for me views on stuff towards this game even when it is pro CxA.

Nomura says that although the stories are separate, what we see at the end of Kingdom Hearts can help answer questions about Cloud and Aerith's relationship as it pertains to FFVII.

Clarifying that they are separate stories and worlds doesn't mean what we see between Cloud and Aerith in KH doesn't help answer questions about their relationship in FFVII. Because despite FFVII and KH being separate worlds, what we see in KH *DOES* help answer questions about Cloud and Aerith's relationship in FFVII. That was Nomura's entire point.

And of course Cloti's would say the ending of KH tells us Cloud and Aerith were just friends. Which is why Nomura made such a point of including them together during the ending -- to show a simple friendship.

lmao :rolleyes:

It's funny cause Tifa is going through books and punching walls and yet, they see that as proof of Cloti being canon.

mean while Cloud & Aerith had their second meeting and agreement of seeing each other again once Cloud comes back.

Keeper of the Intimacy of Aerith's soul living in Cloud
I'd say the KH2 scene is actually better. Aerith displays a level of understanding and trust in one scene that Tifa fails to display the whole time. Aerith's idea is an excellent persuasive tactiic.She just says 'I have faith in you, do what you need to do.' It's very difficult to say no to that. What's to say no to?

You are right. I like how in KH2 you see how Aerith talks with Cloud, and the ending where she waits for him complements it really well. It goes really well with KH1 where you see it more from Cloud's POV and he spends the whole game searching for Aerith.

Its so nice to see :D
