In our Promised Land...
I made this playlist awhile ago. It says it's Aerith one, but I meant it to be subtly Clerith. You can see all the songs here. The most Clerith ones (as I intended) are 03. the woman, 06. a little fall of rain and 08. safe & sound

Well, I think "I see the light" from Tangled fits Clerith really well.

I was just thinking about it. Strange that I didn't think much about this song back when I did the FF7/Tangled art challenge.
This really fits the gondola ride... the only issue with Cloud is that he seems more dense about his own feelings than Eugene. In Tangled, both Rapunzel and Eugene seem to be on the exact same wavelength. But only Aerith expresses her feelings in the gondola. Now, maybe Cloud was also thinking how pretty Aerith was... I can imagine it, with Aerith happily enjoying the lights/view, much like Rapunzel was.

To me, "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts fits Cloud and Aerith's tragic love story quite perfectly.

When Aerith was down in the church in Advent Children, I always imagined Cloud wanting to say a lot of things to Aerith but couldn't (he was too busy staring at the sight of her intensely lol. Jk.). He simply didn't have the chance to. As someone whose grief was so strong that he wanted to just die and get it over with, Cloud sometimes must have wondered about all the what ifs and how things could have been if he could save her.
Here's the lyric :

Quote:

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m OK
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doing it
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say (much to say)
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do, oh.

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say (to say)
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Not seeing that loving you
That's what I was trying to do

I'm in such a Clerithy mood nowadays that it's all I think about even at work it's not even funny.

Just want to share some songs I love that I find really Clerithy :gift:

So the first song makes me think of Cloud and Aerith going around Gaia with the rest of AVALANCHE, and I always thought they often had their own "bubble", both probably behind everyone as they talked and talked, and by twilight when they all need to settle down, everyone looks at them and call them out to catch up. *sighs*

LANY - pink skies

Get you under pink skies I know exactly where we should go
‘cause I love the way your green eyes mix with that Malibu indigo
Talking under pink skies I think our hearts are starting to show
That it’s better you and I under pink skies

I really like this song, the whole Eurydice/Orpheus story sort of really reminds of them and their situation in AC, not exactly and entirely, but the song hits closer.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Eurydice

Out of my sight, but not out of mind
You had to leave the living behind,
And I couldn’t see
So I shut my eyes and dreamt you were here
Or dreamt I was there in hell or thin air,
And I wouldn’t leave

This was actually something I discovered from Life is Strange. I dunno, I love it, and I can hear Aerith reassuring with this, being subtly empathetic and optimistic.

Jose Gonzalez - Crosses

The streets outside your window over-flooded
People staring. They know you've been broken
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

Coldplay makes a lot of Clerithy songs  it's from the latest album, and it's more of how the guy remembers his loved one in a healthy light. Definitely Cloud Strife-y, this song.

Coldplay - Everglow

Oh they say people come
Say people go
This particular diamond was extra special
And though you might be gone
And the world may not know
Still I see you celestial

Cowsills - The Rain, The Park, And Other Things

Quote:

I saw her sitting in the rain
Raindrops falling on her
She didn't seem to care
She sat there and smiled at me

Then I knew (I knew... I knew... I knew... I knew)
She could make me happy (happy... happy)
(She could make me very happy)
Flowers in her hair (in her hair)
Flowers everywhere (everywhere)

(I love the flower girl)
Oh I don't know just why; she simply caught my eye
(I love the flower girl)
She seemed so sweet and kind; she crept into my mind
(To my mind... to my mind)

I knew I had to say hello (hello... hello)
She smiled up at me
And she took my hand and we walked through the park alone

And I knew (I knew... I knew... I knew... I knew)
She had made me happy (happy... happy)
(She had made me very happy)
Flowers in her hair (in her hair)
Flowers everywhere (everywhere)

(I love the flower girl)
Oh I don't know just why; she simply caught my eye
(I love the flower girl)
She seemed so sweet and kind; she crept into my mind
(To my mind ... to my mind)

Suddenly, the sun broke through
(See the sun)
I turned around she was gone
(Where did she go)
And all I had left was one little flower in my hand

But I knew (I knew... I knew... I knew... I knew)
She had made me happy (happy... happy)
(She had made me very happy)
Flowers in her hair (in her hair)
Flowers everywhere (everywhere)

(I love the flower girl)
Was she reality or just a dream to me
(I love the flower girl)
Her love showed me the way to find a sunny day
(Sunny day... sunny day... sunny day)

(I love the flower girl)
Was she reality or just a dream to me

"She's got that light" by Orange Blue.

It works well in context with how important Aerith is in Cloud's life and how she is the ray of light/hope throughout FFVII.
