Just throwing this out there, but Cloud's 'Light' could be the person HE was before he fell to darkness.
This is definitely possible for KH2 (and most likely correct), but for KH it would contradict what Cloud actually says.

Quote:

Cloud: I’m looking for someone. Hades promised to help. I tried to exploit the power of darkness, but it backfired. (stands up) I fell into darkness, and couldn’t find the light.

He specifically says that he's looking for "someone" and that "Hades promised to help". This means that Hades promised to help find this 'someone', before Cloud fell into darkness.

Well, that and Sora specified that Cloud is searching for his light with this sentence. "You'll find it. I'm searching too."

Ah, don't know if this is the best place to post this, but here goes.

I've been playing the 1.5 HD Remix lately myself, and something that's probably really farfetched occurred to me.

At the end of the movie Hercules, the titular hero pays Hades a visit to bargain for the soul of Megura, who was killed earlier in the movie during the titan attack... but then brought back to life once Herc rescues her.

Maybe I'm stretching things here but... is there any possibility Cloud was thinking along the same lines? I.e. "this guy's the Greek god of the underworld, maybe he can help me find/revive/meet/etc. Aeris." I mean granted Aeris isn't dead in KH, but Cloud doesn't know that until the ending credits.

Just a thought.

That's what I always thought, too. It makes sense. I mean, it's Hades... of course he's going to try and charm Cloud into making a deal with him. Why would Cloud just work with Hades? Just for the heck of it? No, that's insane. And it doesn't make any sense for Cloud to work with Hades (a bad guy) in order to find another bad guy (sephiroth).

Hades probably did what he did to Meg, dangle what he wanted most before him... which was finding Aerith. And as Nomura said in an interview, Cloud had been separated from Aerith and the others since the heartless attacked Radiant Garden. Cloud was left behind in the midst of things so he went years without seeing any of them.

For all Cloud knew, they all could have died (and the other way around) so he probably did make a deal with Hades to at least find her.

I always said it was very very telling that Nomura said he wanted to create a side story for Cloud & Aerith so that maybe we can find answers to what their relationship was, and the the way he chose to do it is by associating Cloud to another love story where the guy (Herc) bargains with Hades to save (and be with) the woman he loves. It's no coincidence that that was the story Nomura chose to associate Cloud to.

So yeah, I totally agree! :3

I don't think that's farfetched at all. I've always thought it was the connection we were supposed to make.

Meg sold her soul to Hades in order to bring the man she loved back to life. Cloud himself says that's the same reason he worked for Hades -- because Hades could help him find someone he was looking for (who may possibly have been dead.)

Ah, so it's not just me then. Suddenly it makes perfect sense that they decided to put him in the Hercules portion of the game ^_^

Makes me wonder if some of the other FF/Square characters were deliberately put in specific worlds for similar reasons.
