Cold..... But I'm still here.

http://n4g.com/news/861725/analyzing-aeris-death-in-final-fantasy-vii A very interesting find. The producers of the Gaming Theory give their take on Aerith's death, and the results may shock you..... lol of course it's theory and generally all in fun, but I got a kick out of it. |

Yeah... Aerith shouldn't die immediately from that stabbing, dramatic as it is. Heck SQUALL has a more dangerous stabbing at the chest with that icicle thanks to Edea but he's hunky dory by disk 2. |

But if she had died under water, then given that theory, wouldn't her body eventually float back up to the top and maybe wash ashore? I mean, the lake can't be THAT deep... can it? |

The lake can't be THAT deep, yet it's miraculously deep that Cloud can stand at one point and drop her as she falls meters and meters down into the depths. I don't think the science of that lake should ever be taken into consideration. XD |

Posted this a while back but SE shot it dead when they said she died immediately from the stabbing in part of the compilation I think. |

Let's not bring FF8's storytelling problems into this.
Sure it can. Ever heard of a drop off? Think of it as Cloud standing in the shallow part and letting her loose over a cliff, if it helps you. |

Come away, oh human child, to the waters and the wild.

I was also going to say that I had read somewhere about there being a drop-off in the lake. Another little thing about the video -- they said something about there being a belt that appears on Aeris. Isn't that just the shadows from her waistline? About the blood - I don't know about the "invulnerable" guy in the video, but I seem to remember hearing about wounds where, if the blade is very sharp, and it goes straight in and out, then they don't bleed or something. Maybe I just imagined that, and it would probably be hard to get that precise of a cut when Sephiroth was jumping down from the ceiling, but it was the first thing I thought of when that was mentioned in the video. Anyway, it was interesting to see how they actually looked into the science behind the scene. |

Actually Aerith doesn't die immediately from the impact of the blade. If you notice after being stabbed see opens her eyes and the pupils shrink slightly and her mouth opens in shock at seeing the blade. Also when Sephiroth drags the blade out of her, her arms are moving upwards which wouldn't happen if she had died they would of just been limping dragging along from Sephiroth pulling it out, they are moving upwards, its when the side view of her face that she dies and her body falls forward making her ribbon come undone and releases her hair and the materia is the exact moment when she dies. Well that's it if you watch the FMV properly. I don't buy that SE says she died immediately from what I see in the FMV, she's still alive right until Sephiroth finishes removing the sword and falls forward. And the lake if SE had done it realistically there then the romance and tragic view of Aerith's death would have been greatly harmed. That lake would of been extremely shallow and Aerith's body would simply float there because the human body is lighter than water. Same with Cloud placing her there and his silouette appearing the water as we get the view of her body falling deeper. SE just avoided it all to make the scene more signicant and more tragic, especially since its supposed to evoke emotion from the player at her death, they would of been too upset to look at the scene properly. |

Hey PR, where's your awesome mod skillz? Since I posted this vid on another thread a while back lol Though now I can't find it. And nah, I'm sure Aerith was dead while Cloud was sobbing over her. |

I'll have to go and have a look around. ![]() That's what I said she dies when Sephiroth removes the blade and falls into Cloud's arms. She's dead when he's holding her and sobbing. |

Aerith dies immediately when her white materia comes loose. In Maiden that Travels the Planet it says her soul was removed fairly quickly. Besides, this is FINAL FANTASY, not real life. Science doesn't apply when people can summon large monsters, use magic, jump and flip around in the air like there's no gravity, and there's a large alien out to destroy the earth. Not to mention the Cetra being able to TALK to the Planet. Just saying... >> |
