okay i'm sorry because i know that there is already a topic about this before. but it was not continued though. T_T.

I just can't seem to get this outta my head since i played CC. i was just like: wth is with Loveless and what does it have to do with the FFVII game itself?

then i have read somewhere in CC i think that Loveless was told in a girl's POV. thus making her (aerith) the "heroine"?.

and since i also stumbled on this topic on FFVII citadel, loveless being mentioned by cid in the highwind scene- it just means that it was already part of the game even before CC was introduced.
there it was also mentioned (in here too) a scene in AC wherein a billboard of loveless play fell, and the image you can see definitely resembles aerith's face. (i watched it again and it really looked like her.) if you want a screenie i can post it. lol.

so is Loveless really a tale about aerith and cloud? what do you think guys?
though i think the poem itself is an exchange of dialogs between two persons. (or three? including cloud)

my understanding is this.

Prologue
When the war of the beasts brings about the world’s end
The goddess descends from the sky
Wings of light and dark spread afar
She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting

this i think pertains to the final battle between cloud and seph. the goddess maybe aerith herself, for she's the one guiding them. wings of light and dark- i think is holy and meteor.

Act I
"Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess
We seek it thus, and take it to the sky
Ripples form on the water’s surface
The wandering soul knows no rest"

- i think it pertains to cloud, " a wanderer that is seeking for something" (maybe it was revenge? or maybe he was seeking himself? what does cloud fight for in the beginning in the first place?) the ripples i think pertains to the events that are enivitably starting to take place.

Act II
There is no hate, only joy
For you are beloved by the goddess
Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds

Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul
Pride is lost
Wings stripped away, the end is nigh

there is no hate, only joy- i think pertains to aerith, coz she never blamed cloud- he was "beloved" by her.
hero of dawn-cloud, healer of worlds-aerith

the shattered soul with wings stripped away, no pride & with dreams of tomorrow- to me it pertains to seph. (who dreams of world destruction)

Act III
My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow

My friend, your desire
Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess

Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return

(implies to aerith's return? even if there were no promises made.)

Act IV

My friend, the fates are cruel
There are no dreams, no honor remains
The arrow has left the bow of the goddess

(an enivitable event?)

My soul, corrupted by vengeance
Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey
In my own salvation
And your eternal slumber

(cloud was driven by vengeance, and was tormented by aerith's death), a fight to the end which brings salvation, and eternal slumber=sephiroth?

Legend shall speak
Of sacrifice at world’s end
The wind sails over the water’s surface
Quietly, but surely

what do you think is the sacrfice? aerith's death? her happiness? or like what was said in AC, "sadness was the price to see it all end"?

cough* the deep english is really difficult for me T_T. gah. this is all a shallow understanding of mine. i would like to hear from you guys!

i think the one that call's him friend is zack (when pertaining to cloud) the one that speaks of herself, the godess, was aerith. XD eep. i really dunno. hee.

To touch the light I see in your eyes...
Frankly, it's been years since I discussed Loveless, and I've forgotten a great deal about it! :( I'd have to go look it up again, but I don't have the time right now.

It's a fascinating topic, though. Here's some of our previous threads on it:

I'll try to look into it when I've got more time tomorrow, okay? ^_^
