I watched this, now I'm not sure who this guy is or who hired him, but someone should probably say "you're over thinking this." Though what he does say, makes sense. It's also extremely weird to think about it in this light.

That was a very odd video and rather silly. I'm not sure if he means it seriously or not.

Although as a note, there's some NSFW-ish pictures in the video.

*laughs* Ohhhh, Cloud's not the brightest of the clone bunch, huh? XD

It's definitely an interesting theory, but the novella Maiden who Travels the Planet states that Aerith died immediately. So no, she didn't drown because Cloud was too stupid to know about battle wounds and stabbing casualties. You'd think he would've known she was alive from a pulse and... oh... her SOUL?
Cloud can feel and hear Aerith's soul/voice, so he would've known if she had died immediately or not.

Bam. Counter argument.

PUSH-INS OF TIFAS BREASTS!!

I also wondered why there was no blood at Aeriths body... it made the scene look more unrealistically this way. Maybe they wanted to portray her as pure, therefore not spilling blood when dying...?

Perhaps, though that's one part of the vid I did like.

That he pointed out she's not human, but of an ancient race: the cetra. What did make sense was why she didn't bleed. The rest of it, not so much.

Well, yes, Aerith was Cetra, but she was also human.

As for the blood... I remember reading a short story a long time ago that explained the no blood thing. It also explained why when Cloud was stabbed by Seph's sword there was no blood.

Anyway, some sword master put Masamune and Murasame in a river where leaves would drift by. Murasame sliced the leaves that came near it, but Masamune didn't even touch them.

If I can actually find the story I'll link it here. (Edit) Found it:
http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/nitem.shtml All of these weapons are in alphabetical order. Scroll down to Masamune.

My point is Sephiroth holds Masamune and when you visit Wutaii you can buy Murasame for Cloud. At the end of the game when you beat Seph he's covered in blood.

Note I'm counting out Advent Children, where Cloud was shown to be bloody. For all we know the remake could have lots of blood, y'know? But this is all of the information I've gathered about the lack of blood at Aerith's death scene.

I literally cannot watch the video because it takes too long for me to download videos. So I have to rely on what people say about it here to know what's on it.

If this guy is saying Aerith drowned in the pool instead of by Sephiroth's blade, I think that's ridiculous. In the first place, Cloud's been in enough battles to know when someone's dead vs. injured. In the second place, Cloud was holding Aerith in his arms, so I think he would've noticed a pulse or her breath on his cheek if she were still alive. In the third place, if Aerith wasn't dead yet, why wouldn't Sephiroth finish her off? Isn't Sephiroth smart enough to know when someone's dead?

That brings up an interesting subject, though. Sephy wanted Aerith dead so that she couldn't summon Holy. He knew that Holy was the only potential way to stop Meteor. So why didn't Sephy finish her off before she summoned Holy? Did Sephy wait because he wanted to force Cloud into killing her? Or did he want to kill her in front of Cloud to cause Cloud more pain?

But even though Aerith had already summoned Holy, it was all the more reason for Sephy to make sure that Aerith was dead. If you remember, Holy was unable to move because Sephy was blocking Aerith's will. He could only do that if she was dead. So it seems to me that if Aerith wasn't dead yet, Sephy would've finished her off.

I have no idea why she didn't bleed. Maybe Cetra's don't bleed? Or maybe the color of Cetra blood is transparent? Then again, Aerith is also half human.

I can't remember how much blood was shown in other battles, but I don't think there was much - if any. The only blood I definitely remember was the blood on Sephy after Cloud finished him off at the end. Remember that this game was made back in the late 1990's with rather lousy graphics in general - the best graphics were in FMV's. Maybe SE just couldn't get it to look right, or they thought it ruined her appearance?

Honestly, his whole blood explanation doesn't cover it. It's a far different scenario to show a wound bleeding as someone's dying than to show blood splatters or blood. It's all about context. I honestly think that they didn't show blood for the same reason you don't see Tifa bruised or bloody after her fight with Loz. She's not pulling any punches and he certainly isn't either, there should be bruising, bloodiness, etc.

Although I do think they have slightly different reasons for the two, although the same general reason. The general reason is that both would be a tricky line in terms of censorship (even self-censorship), but the Aeris scene I think is to take a little of the focus off "Sephiroth killed Aerith" and point it more towards "Why this matters (Cloud+team reactions)". Tifa's case is, I think, besides to keep her appearance (cause appearances is important in AC, just look at Cloud/Sephiroth : P), the image of a bruised and battered woman, unconscious, is not very neat or pretty and has extremely bad connotations.

I think they avoided gore in this scene because it was sad enough. Why ruin the poignancy with blood effects? We didn't need to see that to know she was dead.

Sephiroth, on the other hand... he needed a beating.

What a loser this guy he is thinking WAY too much into this. What is the point of looking into this? Obviously if Aerith had survived she would of been extremely wounded and probably would of died or perhaps became paralyzed. SE avoided the gore and blood because like Shiva had said the scene was already sad enough. And like MT said I don't think players would like to see a heavily bleeding Aerith lying there.

And the burial scene? If Aerith's body would of been floating there it would of damaged the romance and tragedy of her death. I for one think the death and funeral scene is very romantic with the moonlight shining upon Cloud and Aerith and her letting her body go and losing her for what seems like forever.

Cetras are humans to, the ones that lost their powers are the ones who gave up their pilgrimage and settled into an easier life and then there fore had lost the ability to talk with the Planet and their Cetra powers.
