*Embedded image changed to link because it was stretching the page ~Ultimavara* So I found myself on a random page dedicated to Aerith, and on that page it showed this picture with this caption: "Aeris will return to the Final Fantasy 7 Compilation. How or why?? This picture is hard rock proof that Aeris returns because by the time we get the Highwind on Disk 2 Aeris is dead and gone. But thanks to Square Enix they have deicded to ressurect her and it shows her standing on the ground watching the Highwind leave."~ Aeris_of_flowers I don't know. I've always seen this picture as a metaphor or something. As Aeris_of_flowers said, Aerith never got to experience a ride on the Highwind. So how is it possible that she's standing on the ground below in human form watching the aircraft leave? It's just a picture. It doesn't do anything to the game, it doesn't affect anyone playing the game, and it's really just there to grasp the player's attention or add some effect to the whole atmostphere. Plus, it: a. Has no true value. Why would SE throw out a picture of Aerith standing there, completely and totally alive, watching the Highwind leave? I think it's just another one of those pictures that tug on your emotions a bit. It's like, "Aw, Aerith never got to ride the Highwind" or something along those lines. b. It's too late for Aerith to ride on the Highwind. She was already gone by the time you get to fly it. Anyways, when you think about it, FF7 is a very complex game. You can't just easily look at the game and make assumptions, because there's so much depth to it. But then again you can't go too far into depths because sometimes the things people come up with - as shown as above - don't really make sense and/or are just something that they would like to happen. But, as I continued to read the comments, many began to agree with Aeris_of_flowers because someone brought up the fact that Sephiroth later returned and was able to interact with people and such. Thoughts?

Its just reference to Aerith getting a promise by Cloud to take her someday to the Highwind that's all. Its promotional art that all of the characters had. The party does get to the Highwind platform in Junon when they are trying to get inside the main city of Junon so they do encounter the Highwind before disc 2. |

I always thought it was that bit where Cloud jumps up the dolphin up the pole, and Aerith and the rest find a different way to get through, and Aerith sees the Highwind for the very first time and she gets the desire for her wish to ride on the Highwind. Sorry if this thought kills any Aerith coming- back hopes. ![]() Because in the picture the Highwind is still in dock as it was in Junon, and Rufus and Shrina haven't used it yet. |

That's exactly what it is like Aerire said and its referring to Aerith asking Cloud to be taken one day. Its just promotional artwork. It appears randomly amongst other character's pictures when a disc needs to be changed. You can insert disc 2 or 3 when you are still on disc 1 and this picture can still show up. |

That's what I always thought it was, too, Kuki and Aerire - it's just a reference to Cloud promising to take Aerith for a ride on it someday. (Actually, that promise has an optional answer - he doesn't have to agree to take her.) Aerith "Hey, Cloud. Did you see the Airship at Junon?" Cloud "...I heard it was big, but I didn't expect it to be THAT big." Aerith "That was REALLY something." "Hey, do you think I could get on it?" <CHOICE> I'll take you someday I dunno... For that matter, I think the player can skip talking to Aerith completely once Cloud gets on the ship. |

Actually, you need to talk to Aerith, Tifa, Nanaki/RedXIII, and Barret at least once in order to progress. I think you CAN skip talking to RedXIII, but you have to talk to Aerith before finding Barret because she says something like "Have you seen Barret anywhere? I hope he isn't doing something stupid." And THEN that one guard moves and you can find Barret in his sailor outfit. |

OK, I have to be completely honest. No. I don't want Aerith back in the world of the living. They did it with Tidus (though to be fair, the explanation why he can come back is actually viable), and they did it with Genesis (now him, that's just ridiculous). And don't get me start with Hojo, ugh. Sephiroth is flanderized beyond recognition as Cloud's personal stalker, and yeah, it's disturbing how he keeps coming back just to troll him. Anyways, back to topic, bringing back Aerith would just cheapen the drama and angst. Kinda like how Jean Grey or Superman comes back after comics of depression and sadness from their loved ones. It's just facepalm worthy annoying. I'm happy she's alive and kicking in Kingdom Hearts, kthnx. Also, that pic was supposed to give the player a huge punch in the gut, because as said, Aerith never had the chance to ride the airship. It's a constant reminder that her life was cut short, and she'll never enjoy the experience and the adventure the rest of her friends underwent. |
