Wouldn't the whole story of FF7 make more sense if everyone watched/played everything in order? Before Crisis Crisis Core FF7 Advent Children And then somewhere in between those lines KH/KHII would come out... or would it come before all of that? Anyways, IMO, everyones' views on the LTD would be a little different, wouldn't you think? If Crisis Core came out before everything else, Zack and Aerith would obviously be the canon couple at the time and everyone would be happy. There wouldn't really be enough interaction between Cloud and Tifa, but everyone would make assumptions and just go along with it. Then FF7 finally comes out. We see a little more interaction between Cloud and Tifa, but of course it isn't enough to say that they were a couple or interested in each other. Though when Aerith comes along, we definitely see chemistry. So along the game we can make up our minds about who Cloud loves/cares for and whatever, and then we can join whatever forums/clubs that relate to our preferred pairing. Anyways, AC/ACC comes around. Even after two years we still see Cloud having tremendous trouble with getting over Aerith's death, and it's clear that it's not just his guilt that is isolating him from everyone else. Like most of you have said, he still spends more time with Aerith's spirit than he does with Tifa at the bar, let alone anywhere else. I just think that with everything in order, everything would make sense. People wouldn't keep referring back over to Zerith, because that was in the past. I don't really think Before Crisis is necessary, but you know, it's there for whoever wants to play it. |

You forgot DoC as well at the end of it. Dirge of Cerberus DOES count. |

It's possible, but I don't know that it really would have had that much influence. I think fans see pretty much what they want to see. I sorta think that Before Crisis and Crisis Core would have influence regardless of when they were released. In other words, if Before Crisis and Crisis Core would influence more people to see CloudxAerith as the intended pairing of the Compilation, then I think that would've happened already - even though they were released after FFVII. Sorry if I seem like a pessimist, but I can't see them changing anyone's mind.

My destiny is in your hands

Not really, people now prefer to play the side games/sequels rather than the original and then whine about it along with the characters. |

I think that maybe this would have been better, right! Hmmh... but maybe, it could be worse...? I mean, one sees Zacks and Aerith, one thinks they are cute... and then one plays the other games just in order - one has seen that Zerith is sweet and doesn´t want to think that it ends so tragical. I think one clings to the pairing one sees first. |

I wonder. Have any of you played everything in order to see if it makes sense still? I'm only asking because of all the changes being made to the series. |

I think it would be even more confusing because each game adds on new bits or retcons stuff that happened in the original VII. You wouldn't know what exactly was going on. |

Good point, Kuki. The story has been changed somewhat, so what people were expecting the story to be when they first played FFVII wasn't necessarily the story they got when they played BC and CC. That's the problem. People created their own story from the info they got in FFVII, and then the official stories were different when they finally got released. So it *did* get confusing.

Sicker than the rest

Well, if you played CC first, you would know Cloud was delusional pretty quickly and who's memories and stories he was playing out. There would be no build-up, no big twist and the whole thing would probably be quite tedious. |

Some kinda rabid...

Im just gonna my typical totz ff7 purist self about this and say I'd prefer it if people played FF7 first. Its the original, and its how they first intended for people to view the world of FF7 when it was first released. I havent played CC, and tho I will sometime because I'd like to see it, I dont think its necessary - most of the complilation screws around w/ the original FF7 canon anywayz, Im happy just sticking to what I know from the original. ._. Yeah, moar pessimism here as well, gotta say XD But its fair enough if people think you should play it in that order... o3O Also, Im confused... KH isnt a canon continuation of any FF, is it...?

KH is an AU of FF7 I believe. Either that or the FF worlds were destroyed and their characters spread onto the other worlds, no idea. |

KH is its own game it has nothing at all in relation to the FF games just like how each FF game is nothing in relation to each other except of course with the direct sequels X-2 and XIII-2. |

Well actually I always through FF10 and 10-2 were secret prequels to 7, like several years in the future 7 happened after them. Since the one kid's name was Shinra and he was inventing technology...somehow someday he could have made Shinra corp. But I could be wrong there. |

That was just little hint or a "what if?" SE just through in. VII and X/X-2 ahve many similiarities but they are each their own world.
Yup you summed it up perfectly there it would spoil many things in VII and Cloud's memories are a big plot section of VII and it would take away the tension of the build up to learning the truth. |

That one guy

For that matter, the story we GOT when we first played FF7 wasn't the story we got when we played the other games/watched the movies. Exactly how many Turks are they anyway? Did Zack fight off the whole Shinra army himself or did he get gunned down by three trooopers? How did Cloud beat Sephiroth in the reactor and did Tifa know he was there or not? |
