How Could They Bring Aerith Back?

Okay, sorry if there's a thread like this.

But IF Square wanted to bring Aerith back how do you think they'd do it? (please don't talk about how they wouldn't do it, we all know they wouldn't)

but what if they did just do it one day and brought her back. Have any good theories on how they'd do it?

Like the whole Tidus affect. He was brought back by the fayths. Since X and VII's worlds are tied together maybe the cetra/ancients could grant Cloud a favor for saving the world time and time again.

Or maybe if Cloud found Holy he could make a wish for her life to be given back. I don't know, if that last one is possible, but I don't think Holy has a limit of how many prayers can be made on it, right? :/

Anyways, I just thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone has to say on the matter.

The only way that would make any sense based on compilation canon is Aerith manifesting via remnants, like Sephy did in AC. She says in COLW that she could do this, but wanted Cloud to remember her the way she was.

Well, that's certainly possible. Is that what she does to speak/contact Cloud now? :/ If so, does that mean she can do it forever?

No, that's not what she does to speak or contact Cloud now. She's appearing in spiritual form to Cloud, not in physical form. Nomura said in Distance that Cloud can see Aerith because her consciousness lives on inside of him, not because she's a ghost. Nojima also said in the Reunion Files that he didn't want Aerith to seem like a ghost:

To tell you the truth, initially, I had planned to have Aerith jump on the back of Cloud's motorcycle, but I didn't want her to look like some ghost looming over him, so we changed it around (lol). ~Nojima, Reunion Files

Sephy's remnants appear in physical form, not Aerith. That's why we know the others cannot see her.

Vixie's right, though. Aerith does say in CoLW that she might be able to manifest in the same way as Sephiroth, but that she'd rather appear to Cloud the way she was.

Eventually the woman discovered that the man, spreading hatred around the world, was trying to manifest on the surface. She wondered how he was planning to do that. Summoning up all her courage she approached the man's spirit. However, he spotted her and chased her off, but soon gave up chase. She knew the man was laughing at her. You can't do anything. However, she had caught what he was planning. He was apparently going to use separate entities to be his agents. The woman asked herself if she could do the same. However, she soon changed her mind. Even if it were possible, I want to meet Cloud the way he knows me. ~CoL: White 3

But as a further note, look why it says that Sephiroth *can't* manifest as a spirit:

He had decided he would use his Mother's power. With a fragment of Mother's body, I too can get a body again, the man thought. And so firstly, he tried to manifest on the surface as just a spirit, but his attempt failed. He had already returned the memories of his own appearance to the planet, and so he was not able to produce an image of himself. ~CoL: Black 3

So Sephy couldn't appear as a spirit only because he'd already returned the memories of his appearance to the Planet. Has Aerith returned those memories to the Planet? I don't think we don't know if she has or not.

As for whether or not Aerith can appear to Cloud like this forever, I would think she'd be able to do it as least for the rest of his life. Aerith talked to Cetra spirits at the Temple of Ancients who had been there for hundreds of years without returning to the Planet - so if other Cetra spirits can hang around that long, I would think Aerith could hang around for as long as Cloud lives. ^_^

Those spirits seemed to posses some physical form as well, so it would be almost like she was still alive.

I suppose there's always clonesl. If Sephiroth was able to posses bodies similiar to his own, Aeris might be able to as well.

On a similiar note, it would be somewhat poetic if Aeris was able to take control over what was left of Jenova and remold it into her own image.

Just that little dude they talked to. I'm talking about when she first arrives there:

(Cloud arrives at the Temple of the Ancients. Aerith stands on the rope bridge before it, then falls to the ground.)
Aerith "This is... the Temple of the Ancients..."
"I... I know... I feel it... the knowledge of the Ancients.. floating..."
"You could become one with the Planet, but you're stopping it with the strength of will."

"For the future? For us?"
(Cloud runs over and kneels by her.)
Cloud "What are you saying? Do you understand?"
(Aerith gets up and runs further into the Temple, stopping to stand on the stairs leading to the top.)
Aerith "You're uneasy... But happy?"
(She looks around at nothing)

She feels the presence of Cetra spirits at the temple, but they have no physical form. She even says that those spirits could return to the Planet, but that they're stopping it with the strength of will. Those Cetra spirits must have been there since the Temple was built hundreds of years ago - so they've been stopping their return to the Planet with the strength of will. If those Cetra spirits could do that, I'm sure Aerith could, too.

Well, Aerith does say in CoL that she could probably manifest in remnants like Sephiroth did with Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz, but she didn't want to.

I dunno about the clones - wasn't their will overtaken by the will of Sephiroth/Jenova? I doubt Aerith would force others to obey her will.

Does anyone remember this Aerith revival task that popped up? I remember that this spread like wild fire because of screenshots being provided showing how you were able to bring Aerith back to life. However a lot of people including myself noticed how Aerith's model was standing in the exact same position in the last two shots which led to the creator to fess up. Plus I thought the text looked out of place with the letters being a bit too far apart.

I remember though the amount of "bring back Aeris" rumours that were all over the game magazines when VII was released and the years after it but this is the one I remember most.

Kudos to FFVII Citadel for the link.
