Tifa wakes up in prison with Barret. She's been unconscious for seven days. It's now ... Day 161 Weapon is on a rampage. Meteor has been summoned and hangs in the sky. The Northern Crater is surrounded by a barrier of light and can't be breached. On top of al of this, Rufus Shinra is going to execute Barret and Tifa just to make people feel better. Tifa is going to be given the gas chamber by Scarlet, who apparently hates her. Then Weapon attacks. Scarlet has already pulled the switch to start the gas when everything goes to hell, Cait Sith who was in a rather obvious disguise gives her some sleeping gas to knock her out, and tries to help Barret get Tifa. When the door won't open, he has another plan to get to the airport. Here you can also run into Yuffie, who has snuck into the base disguised as a reporter. The Shinra try to hit it with the Junon cannon, but that doesn't work. So they unload all of their conventional weapons at it. Tidbit: In the cutscene, you can see one green shinra trooper in command of some regualr blue suited ones. I believe this is the first time a green shinra trooper has been seen. When it gets closer, they're able to hit it point blank in the face with the Cannon, destroying it's head. Tifa is eventually able to get out of the chamber herself, and climbs out of a hole created in the attack. Scarlet and some Shinra troopers are right behind her. Scarlet eventually catches up and she has a slap fight with Tifa. At this point Tifa hears a voice telling her to run to the end of the cannon. (Cloud? Aeris?) The rest of AVALANCHE have manged to get a hold of the airship, and by that, I mean they've stole it. Tifa escapes and AVALANCHE (minus Aeris and Cloud... and Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge, I suppose, but they don't count) is reunited again. You've even expanded your team. There are six crew members working the airship. (If these characters are given names anywhere else in the compilation, I'd like to know what they are.) Basically, the Highwind crew rebelled against the Shinra because Heidegger was a abusive jerk and Cid seemed like a really nice guy, so they helped him steal the airship. Tifa is really upset about Cloud being gone, really upset. Barret actualyl asks when she became such a wimp and whatever happened to the tough girl he used to know. The figure that's it's possible, Cloud was swept up into the Lifestream and might have resurfaced in an area where the Lifestream is close to the surface. ... I really can't think of a good one, so I guess it's search time. Also, Yuffie is airsick. (Note, but to the team now having an airship, travel time is practically nil. Time is going to pass more based on what the team does on the ground or story scenes.) So now the team flies around hoping to find some sort of lead where Cloud is. You don't have to check these places, you might not even check any of them, but let's go through and see what info you can find by going from town to town. By the way, Tifa has taken over leadership of the team. In Icicle Inn, somebody mentions a famous doctor in Mideel. Cloud is not a famous doctor. That does not help me. In Kalm you find out that the Shinra were transporting a bunch of secret weapons over sea, when Weapon attacked them and sunk their craft. Let's all laugh at the Shinra! Also there's a doctor in Mideel, still don't care. Northern Corel, blah blah blah, something about Mideel. Also Dio has closed the Golden Saucer. He's not sure he wants to keep it open in a time like this. In the Cosat Del Sol, nobody knows anything of use. Not even Mukki! Another thing to note is that Johnny's gone. In Rocket Town, you find out the Shinra are going to be transporting huge Materia here. There's only four left right now. In Niebelham, the black cloaked guys are gone. I think we were all expecting that. If you go back to Junon you pick up some interesting info. (Storywise, it makes little sense to go back here, but let's play along.) Priscilla actually knows something useful! She points you to an island in the south where the Lifestream comes close to the surface. Even MORE interesting is that she mentions the Lifestream is Mr. Dolphin's playground. ... so, Dolphin's in the lifestream. That's just kinda cool. I suppose we can infer from that, that they are immune to mako poisoning and quite possibly have absorbed the wisdom of the Ancients. You can't tell me that isn't awesome. I wonder if that freaked Aeris out at first? Picture her just walking around in the lifestream, being dead and everything, then a dolphin just swims right past her. That has to take her by surprise. ... back to Junon. One of the Shinra troops comments that all the real soldiers (not SOLDIERS mind you) were killed in the Weapon attack. Nice to know that from here on, you've only got to deal with the lazy Shinra that ran or hid. Previously, you found out one of the weapon shop owners here was a former SOLDIER. When you return, he's taken to wearing a black cloak. He's not sure why he's doing it but seems fine otherwise. In general, lots of people were killed by Weapon. One more interesting thing here. Do you remember the weapon shop where the owner had hired lots of cute girl to attract customers? He's still there and he's hired more girls. These girls will openly flirt with Tifa, even saying "Why don't you surround yourself with young girls and have some fun … maybe for the last time." That's it. That's my pairing now. I'm shipping Tifa/Junon Weapon Shop Girls. ![]() Sadly, there's no actual option to take advantage of this. okay okay, it's generic dialog, and later they'll tell the same thing to Cloud and Cid, but, you know, SOME characters change their dialog depending on who's leading the team. Back to the search for Cloud. Cloud isn't at the Temple of Ancients OR the Ancient City. Would have been kinda neat if he was. Gongaga doesn't know anything, but somebody suggests you go talk to Bugenhagen. (Tifa still doesn't tell Zack's family what happened to him. Jerk.) If you go to Cosmo Canyon, there actually seems to be a brief story scene where Bugenhagen tells you to go tot he Southern sea. If you talk to the rest of the people on the airship, Cait says everything is calm wit the Shinra right now, so it's a good time to look for Cloud. Red XIII tells you about an island in the south near the lifestream. Well, I'm guess I'm out of other places to check. Time to head south to that Mideel place. So, having no idea how long it's actually going to take you between starting your search for Cloud and actually heading to Mideel, what do yu want to give them? A day? Two? A week? Give me some input and I'll continue. |

Lol at the shop girls thing. And I like how in the picture you put the owner guy just shrugging. About the dolphin in the lifestream -- somebody should make a piece of fanart about that. About the time it takes to get to Mideel, first I would figure out the average speed for the airship. I would probably use the speed of a regular real cargo plane as a starting point. I would think the the Highwind would move a little slower than that, since it seems to be a lot bigger (and probably heavier) than regular cargo planes. Also, do you have a distance scale for the world map? Once you figure out the speed for the airship, you could just measure the distance from Junon to Mideel to get the time it would take. Of course, you would need to add in some time for searching around and taking wrong turns and such, like you've been doing for the other vehicles. |

That's the main issue I have. You're searching for Cloud, but at this point, you don't know where he is. At all. period. Now MOST places you go would point you towards Mideel, but not all of them and it's not a place you've ever been before, so my issue was exactly how many places or where do you think they started checking before they got the idea to go to Mideel? Its just as possible to check the entire rest of the world as it is to go there first. What I wanted was people's opinions on that. What do you think makes the most sense to go or at least, where did you go when you played the game? |

I would assume the group definately went to Cosmo Canyon and Junon in order to maybe get some information. Bugenhagen would be able to give Tifa and the others some knowledge about the Lifestream and what could happen if a human was engulfed by it and he probably would be able to give some information about Midgar. I would also assume that the team would want to check on the damage done to Junon and to see if they could perhaps pick up any information on Cloud there because of the Weapon attack being related to them being released from the crator by Cloud giving Sephiroth the Black Materia. Cait Sith said that Shinra so I really doubt they would go to Midgar. They might of headed towards Icicle Inn in order to maybe see if they could get information or have a quick look around the outskirts of the Crator with the Highwind but of course they would learn that the barrier would prevent them from doing anything. From the information they could gather, I would just imagine the Highwind searching the southern areas of the world for a couple of days since that's what people are pointing to. |

Like Kuki said, they might go to Icicle Inn. I don't think it's unlikely that their first reaction would be to go back to north and check out the area, since it's the last place they saw Cloud. They might also go to the Bone Village, since it's got a link to the Ancient City/the crater, and they might think Cloud could have ended up there somehow. Going to Cosmo Canyon and Junon after that sounds like a good idea too, for the reasons Kuki mentioned. At that point, if enough people have told you to go south, with enough information (e.g. "Look for an island") that you've got a general idea of where to go, I think they would probably start heading that way. They'd probably be so anxious about Cloud that they would take that lead as soon as they could. |

Appreciate the feedback. So, AVALANCHE has been asking around about Cloud while Tifa leads the team (and flirts with shop girls. No. I'm not letting that go.) Day 166 AVALANCHE arrives in a southern town called Mideel and finds ... A woman that's being followed around by a baby chocobo! ... oh yeah, and also Cloud. Cloud is suffering from Mako poisoning. The team is told he washed up about a week ago. "it's amazing he recovered. When they carried him here after they first discovered him, I thought for sure he was a goner. That boy must have one powerful guardian angel watchin' over him." Sadly, while Cloud DID survive (and they outright tell you no normal human should have survived what he went through) Cloud's brain seems pretty much fried. Here, Tifa quits. "I don't care about anything else… only Cloud. I … want to be by his side…" So much for saving the world. My team was Yuffie and Red XIII. When Tifa says she's staying with Cloud, they say it's probably for the best. I'd imagine that even with Tifa leaving, the rest of the team would stick around at least a day to try to make sure she was going to be okay and to visit Cloud. Day 167 Back to the airship. Minus Cloud. Minus Tifa. Minus Aeris. The team is starting to look pretty light. The group finds out the Shinra's plan to stop Meteor. They're going to collect Huge Materia, put it on a rocket and blast it into the Meteor. Right now all that's left is the Fort Condor Materia and the Corel materia. So I guess we're going to try to stop them. For some reason. Barret says he's not cut out to be leader. He puts Cid in charge. Cid says it's a pain in the ass. Forget it. Anyway, they talk Cid into being leader because he runs the Highwind and they need that. Note: I don't think anybody EVER mentions the fact that Cid Highwind and the Highwind share a name. If they do, I must have missed it. Arriving at Fort Condor the team gets the low down on what's been going on. They go over their supplies, battle plan, and all that stuff preparing for the BIG fight to come. Day 168 This is the big fight. You win, yay, and repel the Shinra invasion. Then, the giant Condor that you've been protecting dies. It's egg hatches and another girl bird flies away in it's place. (If you go outside, you can pick up Phoenix materia suggesting that maybe those weren't exactly Condors after all.) The Fort Condor people reveal that they were lying to you. They had already taken the Huge Materia earlier and were just protecting the Condors. They hand it over to you. AVALANCHE spends the night resting back up, and then they're off again. 169 To the Corel reactor! To be continued later.... |

I did have a larger and better post here, but my computer ate it. Day 171 The team arrives at the Corel reactor just in time to see the train pulling away. They quickly catch back up, board the train, and end up stopping it (maybe. That's optional) and getting the Huge Materia. If they DO stop the train, Corel gets a new more positive outlook on life and even seems to regain their faith in Barret. Back on the airship, the team seems to miss Cloud and Tifa, so they decide to go check on them again. Day 174 The team arrives back in Mideel. Cloud is still pretty much out of it, but he does say "they're coming." The the Lifestream starts to erupt. Then Weapon attacks. Man, if it ain't one thing, it's another. After you put up a good enough fight, Weapon flies away. Cid trash talks it when it does. Even Yuffie says "I swear, next time, that guy's dead meat!" Then the Lifestream blows. The team takes off, only having time to save themselves. Tifa grabs Cloud's wheelchair and tries to get him to safety. That doesn't work either. The ground opens up under their feet and they fall into the Lifestream. Tifa starts talking to somebody. Somebody we can't see or hear. She says "No! It's not me…! I'd never do anything like that!" and freaks out a bit. She eventually appears in some weird lifestream place. Tifa is inside Cloud's mind, or maybe his subconscious. He seems to be searching for himself, and she's helping. Basically you're reliving a lot of their Neibelham flashbacks. Tifa reveals Cloud never came back to Nibelham like he said he would. She waited, but he never came. She does remember their promise though. She even remembers the clothes she was wearing and how small Cloud used to be. Cloud's reason to join SOLDIER was … "I was devastated. … I wanted to be noticed. I thought If I could get stronger I could get someone to notice" At this point, Tifa doesn't know why Cloud would want to try to get her to notice. Cloud reveals how they were never really close, which is news to Tifa. She thought they were (So, she can remember what clothes she wore, but she can't remember who her friends were.) Cloud mentions how he thought Tifa's friends were stupid, laughing at every little thing. He wanted to play with them, but he was never allowed in the group. He started to think he was different than everybody else. He even mentions that "I thought to myself Tifa would never come, that she hated me". Tifa even comments on how she was surprised that Cloud called her out. Then she mentions that they weren't THAT close, but she thought about him a lot after he left. Another flashback shows the day Tifa's mother died and the first time Cloud came up into her room. Tifa thinks that her mother may have crossed the mountains and wants to go see her, even though it's dangerous. Tifa's trio go with her at first, but eventually turn back. Cloud keeps following. Tifa ends up missing a step and falling. Cloud tried to save her but was to slow. Tifa ended up in a coma for seven days. They didn't think she was going to pull through. Everybody seemed to blame Cloud for taking her to sucha dangerous place. Cloud was angry at himself for his weakness. "ever since then, I felt Tifa blamed me…" "I got out of control… I'd get into fights not even caring who it was." Tifa says she's sorry. If she had remembered more clearly what happened, she could have done something sooner. Flashback to the reactor scene where Tifa is nearly killed. Cloud remembers "Zack." Hey! Now we finally have a name for that black haired SOLDIER and I guess Cloud did know Aeris's old boyfriend after all! Zack runs by Tifa without even checking her, and after he is defeated, a generic looking Shinra trooper takes Zack's sword and stabs Sephiroth. Back to the scene where the Shinra troops are first entering Niebleham. Tifa is there, but she JUST misses Cloud putting his mask back on and runs off just before Sephiroth starts talking to Cloud about being back home. Man, Tifa, if you had just waited a couple more minutes we wouldn't be having these problems now. Back to the Reactor, Cloud confronts Sephiroth, gets a blade ran through his shoulder, but manages to over ower Sephiroth and tosses him into the core of the reactor. Here's where Cloud's memories all come together. Tifa's comment? "You stupid jerk. You had us all worried sick" Somehow they're bale to float out of the Lifestream at this point. (I don't see how unless somebody helped them here. Tifa fades in and out a bit, but Cloud remains unconscious. Day 176 Back on the airship, Cloud apologizes. He says he made up those stories based on what he saw and what Zack told him. He also further clarifies about Jenova and SOLDIER. Cloud comments "I'm the master of my own illusionary world but I'm going to live my life without pretending." Tifa's comment on this? "You sure messed up, Cloud!" … Yeah. He just poured his heart out about how much he felt unappreciated and about all this various inferiority complexes and she tells him this. Nice job, Tifa. Really. And she wonders why Cloud doesn't open up to her more. So Cloud and Tifa are back and now you've got an underwater reactor to go check on. But first …. We found out here that Cloud really didn't have any friends and tat he was never in SOLDIER, so first… first I'm going to go track down Johnny and beat the snot out of him. … Childhood friend and fellow SOLDIER my butt. |

Sorry. I've been caught up in sidequests and Battle Squares, and chocobo breeding and other things that I didn't think would actually fit in the timeline, so I haven't been updating this as much as I should recently. Anyway, let's take a look at a few quick things that just doesn't quite fit. If you go back to Midgar, then go to Bone Villiage and dig up a key, and then go back to Midgar you can get back in the place. There's no real storyline reason that they would do this... but if you did.... You encounter Aeris's ghost in the Church. It quickly disappears on you, leaving one of the children there to ask what happened to the Flower Lady. If you go to Aeris's house ... it's empty. You already knew that though. Still, it seems kinda sad than neither Aeris nor her mother are here anymore and Aeris's theme is playing. If you go further to the Honey Bee Inn, the Shinra have occupied it. There's an armed guard standing outside preventing you from entering. Corneo's mansion is still unoccupied though. Also when you're flying around, you just might find a small house in the mountains belonging t the CHOCOBO SAGE! He's really old though and has been alone a long time, so his memory isn't what it used to be. ... he also has a VERY strong resemblance to the Spirit bodies of the Cetra you encountered at the Temple of Ancients. hmmm.... But we're not going to count any of that stuff. Cloud and Tifa just rest up from their Lifestream adventure, then .... Day 177 It's time to head to the Under Water reactor! I particularly enjoyed the scene with the Two Shinra guards and the woman in the elevator. Before attacking you, they agree that whoever survives gets to take the woman out. When one of them asks "what if we both live?" the other responds with "Don't even think about that!" After you beat them, the lady says that it was just a waste of two perfectly good men. So you got futher down, further underwater, and ... hey! There's a Dolphin! It declines to share the wisdom of the Ancients it must have absorbed swimming through the lifestream. Instead it just swims around underwater like a dolphin should. And a bit further you find submarines! Also surprisingly enough, one of the generic shinra troops identifies you by name before attacking! So Cloud beats them and a few other soldiers trying to stop you from getting the Huge Materia, and right before AVALANCHE can claim it, a big mechanical arm comes down and grabs it. The arm loads it onto a submarine. Then you run into Reno, but he doesn't have time to fight you. Instead he sets a big robot lose on you and takes off. (If Vincent is on your team here he actually makes a joke when Reno tells you to help load the ship. Amazing, right?) The robot gets beat and AVALANCHE steals a sub. You have the option of either killing the Shinra on the sub, or taking them prisoner. I took them prisoner. I'm not sure what this affects. Being underwater, in a movie sub, in tight spaces does hell for Cloud's motion sickness. (If I had remembered that, I would have brought Yuffie too. Anybody recall if she reacts badly to this?) There's a submarine mini game here that I hate. Your goal is to sink the sub that carries the Huge Materia. If you DO (and I did) you're interrupted before you can grab it. The Shirna send a message to the submarine to head back to Junon. All the Huge Materia is being loaded up for transport. AVALANCHE leaves the Huge Materia at the bottom of the Ocean for now, docks their newly acquired submarine, and heads into Junon. Yet again, you arrive to late. The Materia is already loaded onto a plane and takes off to Rocket Town before you can get to it. So next stop is... Rocket Town! You can sleep on the way there. 178 It takes a day to fly from Junon to Rocket Town. Next up.... CID IN SPAAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEEEEE!!! |
