^Hence dont remake it at all - it wouldnt be FFVII w/ all that modern carp added to it... D:

Well, a new battle system doesn't mean it'd be bad. If it's a bad RPG system it'll be bad. Honestly, I think Square should leave behind the dated RPG style, but that's just me. :/

Maybe that's why SE isn't really fond of making a remake - we all know VII's fans are interestingly, err, passionate people~

This is true.

Personally, if they just remake the game with purty gfx, I'll be p.o.ed pretty badly. I want a new battle system, the old one was fun, but nowadays, pumping X just doesn't cut it.

I've literally fallen asleep in battle before during an RPG. They need to do something new for a change. Why not do a new kick ass battle system with one of the best storylines ever written for a game.

Heck, I'd prefer a battle system like the KH series, that was fun and interesting.

Personally, I like the old turn-based battle system. :P I get disappointed when I can't control what each character is doing. FFX had my favorite battle system. I loved being able to change armor and weapons mid-battle. Plus, it had the best Summons system. :D

Ever played the Mario RPGs? They all have turn based systems. I encourage you to try those if you haven't yet.

I'd actually like Final Fantasy VII to be remade [I'd like to edit purty graphics >.> don't hate] but I definitely doubt that will ever happen. I actually remember my dad and me talking about the reason behind them not being allowed to remake it is due to the old staff who made it. According to what my father read, most of them are dead, or not even with the company now and they would need all of their permission to even remake it.

I'm not sure though if you can consider something a remake if your even changing the dynamics of it's fighting system that most of us grew to love.

As for the characters looks. . .if they're using the old character outfits in Dissidia then doesn't it seem kinda ass backwards to have them wearing their Advent Children attire?

This is a prank in so many ways -sighs-

I doubt most of the original staff are dead, it was only 14 years ago. And they wouldn't need the permission from the original staff. Square Enix owns the trademarks to VII and they could remake it if they wanted to.

I think generally SE knows that if VII was remade they would be skating on very thin ice. The VII fanbase is quite vocal and they are always given lots of different opinions due to the very different members of it. Plus if remade they would have to change and intergrate everything that has happened in the Compilation that hadn't been established when VII was originally released.

Maybe so but I do distinctly remember the article we read saying that the older staff had to approve of it since they own their own programming code. This was forever ago though so anything could have changed, or I not remember correctly I just know part of it was a legal issue or some shit :ermm: .

With the addition of the complications I think that would prove more of a reason to actually remake it though since a lot of things have changed int he back story now.

Not necessarily, I'm sure SE would consault with the original staff members and a couple of them probably would over see the project or work on it themselves. But SE created and released FFVII, they have te rights to it and could remake it without any of the original staff members permission.

While having the compilation may provide more reasons to remake it puts further strain on the team having to add those things in and then redo scenes in the original VII game so they don't contridict (sp? I can't remember how to spell that!) what has been established in the compilation.

I would like a remake to see a very pretty next generation VII but I fear what would be changed in it. The theme of Life that was presented in VII hasn't really been crossed over into the compilation.

I didn't even know they made Mario RPGs.

There's "Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga " for the Game Boy Advance. I played this one. It's pretty good, but make sure you learn how to do the Bros moves or whatever they are or the final boss is near impossible. There's also "Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story" each for the DS I haven't played those yet but I heard Bowser's Inside story is epic.

There's also the Paper Mario series. The first Paper Mario was on N64. The second one (Paper Mario: 1000 Year Door, which I'm almost at the end of) is for the GameCube. Personally it's my least favorite of the Paper Marios but everyone else says it's the best one. One thing I hate about the battle system in this one is that you're up on a stage for every battle, and there's an audience. Occasionally audience members will attack you (but they sometimes attack the enemy too) or parts of the stage will fall on you or your enemy or both. I hate that, I just like to have more control.

Super Paper Mario plays like a sidescroller though for some reason. Dunno why they decided to do that but a lot of people were disappointed. I kinda liked it though XD

And of course, if you're feeling classic you can always just go for straight up Super Mario RPG for SNES. It was actually made by Square. You can download it on WiiWare. It's my personal favorite of all the RPGs thus far.

and that's the short lesson in Mario RPGs :D

This is why I at times I feel like they shouldn't have even touched the FFVII series and made the twenty billion games that now come with it. So much as been edited, or changed :ermm:

I understand what you mean there would have to be a lot of changes, and at times I get this feeling that a remake would be deadly seeing as it would probably revamp and restart the LTD.

Or make them really really mad and sales plummet to the ground.

Especially with how SE is trying to cater with EVERY SINGLE DEMAND fans have. Its like they lost the whole plot of FFVII and is just improving as they go.
