I have been modding ff7 for about 6 months now and yesterday I came across a huge Cloud Aerith hint inside the internal data of the game. The game as many know has an affection system inside it, but Aerith starts with more affection than everyone else. which means that if one used a save point modifier you would get the Cloud Aerith date scene, and the low affection highwind scene. Now if Cloud Tifa was the cannon pairing why would this be? |

Good question, bustersword. We've already talked about Aerith starting with a higher affection level than anyone else in the game. I agree that it would be very strange for this to be true *unless* Cloud and Aerith were the intended pairing of the game. Why else would the affection system favor Aerith? I don't really understand what you mean by "if one used a save point modifier", though. Wouldn't a "save point modifier" affect the choices you make?

Well using a save point modifier you can skip past the scenes where you have to pick to raise or lower one relationship points with a character. If you skipped those scenes you will get a Cloud Aerith date and a low affection Highwind scene every time. Sorry about the miss understanding hope I cleared that up. |

Well, in France, Cloti often say that: « it’s because Aerith promises a date to Cloud so it’s more logical, and it makes Aerith’s death more tragic just like cait sith’s prediction “ IMO they are just blind |

I always thought it was higher because you meet her so late ![]() But it's interesting to have a hacker here. That's awesome. I recently downloaded a text modifier for the game... i like the part I made where Cloud sings "I'm an aardvark, and I'm PRROOOUUD!" to Tifa. |

Yeah, so it modifies the affection score - that's what I thought. What you've said *does* make it sound like those are the default versions. However, I doubt that evidence would stand up in an LT debate simply because the affection points have been modified by skipping certain scenes. ![]() But yes, Aerith starts way higher than Tifa - Aerith starts at 50 points and Tifa starts at 30 points. IMO, that makes it very arguable that CloudxAerith is the intended pairing.
Aerith is actually the first person you see in the beginning FMV as you start the game. Then Cloud meets Aerith selling flowers in Scene 3 very briefly. However, Aerith isn't named by the player until Cloud falls into her Church in Scene 10. The first time we see Tifa in FFVII is in Scene 6. So you see Aerith first in the game, but Aerith actually gets named by the player later than Tifa does. So I'm not sure which one you consider the "introduction". Remember, too, that Yuffie's in the Affection Level system. As I remember, the first time Cloud can meet Yuffie is Scene 50 and she starts at 10. So Cloud meets her *much* later, but she has a lower score than Aerith. In comparison (this was done VERY quickly): In FFVIII, Squall meets Rinoa in Scene 8, which is after he meets Sephie and Quistis in Scene 5. In FFX, Tidus meets Yuna in Scene 5, which is the same scene he meets Lulu and Rikku. In Crisis Core, Zack meets Cissnei in Scene 4 and Aerith in Scene 5. So it looks to me like the leading lady is *usually* met later. Like I said, though... I did that search very quickly.

What time a character appears in the story, doesn't explain why they gave certain characters higher affection. I'm pretty sure Aerith has the higher start-out affection because she's default, easiest, and is the normal date to get. The other dates were just for fun, for replay value. Aerith's date was always supposed to be the one people got, hence why it's stated as the normal and the easiest date to get. The higher affection was just a back up plan so that she had more points than anyone else if someone chooses to go off course. In other words, SE seems like they gave her these extra points for one reason. So that the players had a better chance of getting her as the date than anyone else. |

As long as you're modding things, Note there's a special clerith scene that only happens if Aerith's level goes up over I believe it's 125 or so. The max you can normally get is 93. |
