Thanks for the quote. Yes. True. But in Maiden of the Planet, Aerith did ask Zack why he didn't visiting her right? Did Zack mention he did try to visit her? |

Yeah just reread it, she never asked that. Plus I mean if we assume that Zack didn't love Aerith much cause he didn't visit her we could ask why didn't her mom visit her and so on. Then it just gets really sad

Yes. That does make sense. Though I still believe that Zack didn't really Love Love Aerith. |

Ditto. Even when I look at Zack's POV in their "love story" I just don't get tragic. I get that he "liked her" 'n' all, but I just don't think it was real. He might've thought it was real, but he just didn't act like it. He's a flirt and a ladies man. In VII, during the flashback of Zack and Cloud on the truck, Zack tells Cloud that he has a place to crash but then he quickly adds "her mom's there, that's out" (can't remember the exact words) but it's something like that. I was 12 then, and it just seemed like Zack didn't want her other than to sleep with her. Not to mention,it just bothers me to hear a guy telling a girl what she should be wearing or what she should be carrying. That aspect of Zerith just bothers me to no end. He should have liked her in blue, without the umbrella. Love isn't about changing someone to your liking, you accept them as they are. Bad and good. It's just another reason why their "love" is so puppy-love to me. ![]() Still, above all that, when I saw CC's ending, the reason the scene was sad wasn't because of Zerith tragicness, it was sad because of the brother-bond between Cloud and Zack. That's the only sadness I ever get from that scene. If I can be honest, Cloud and Aerith's story is more tragic because a lot of reasons. To make this short, because I make too many tl;dr posts. Cloud and Aerith knew each other for a few weeks, despite that they managed to build a bond and a two person world. Cloud busted into Shinra headquarters to save Aerith, even though he knew her for about two-three days. We got to see two mature people, develop a bond with each other, that neither shared with anyone else. We saw them create their own two person world, shutting out all else. The most beautiful part about Cloud and Aerith's tragic love story, is that Aerith showered Cloud with genuine love and adoration. She believed in Cloud, even without him being a famous hero. She managed to be the first one to make Cloud laugh. Out of everyone Cloud knew, it was Aerith that he first started showing concern and care for. Aerith's death came out of no where to Cloud, he wasn't expecting it at all. He was putting their journey on hold just to go rescue Aerith at the Forgotten city. And when he got there he was almost forced to run his sword through the very woman he loved. And when he was stopped, he got the sickening sight of seeing his nemesis kill her instead, right in front of his eyes. He was hopeless, he couldn't do a thing to save her, that alone must be the most torturous nightmare to live through. On top of that, he had to hold her lifeless body in his arms as he tried to shake her awake, he was shaking her awake because he was in denial that this was really happening to him, to them. And as he sat there grieving, he had to listen to her murderer laughing and gloating over her death. Literally, as his heart was breaking from losing her, he had to be the one to carry her to her final resting place. Zack's death doesn't even compare to what Cloud went through. (aaaand I made another tl;dr post) |

Frankly I'm surprised these topics even exist here. Is anyone here honestly going to say "Yes Zerith is more tragic" or even pretend that Zack may have been a decent BF for Aerith at the time? (besides me?) They were young and goofy and I think they were good for each other at the time, but personally I think as time would go on, it would have either matured or fell apart. It's hard to say for sure but I'm betting that Aerith would have wanted someone more like Cloud eventually even if Zack had lived. And asking someone to wear something for you isn't telling them to wear something. I've worn stuff and done favors for Rob, it doesn't mean he's a bad BF or anything. |

Topics like this are for me venting out my frustration. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to know peoples opinions either. If I go somewhere else and talk about this I'm sure to get bash right away. |

Because sometimes they become "Why Zack was a horrible boyfriend to Aerith." topics. I'm pretty sure there's already at least one topic for that anyway. And I guess I just feel bad for the way Zack when that happens (yeah I know he's not real). He made Aerith happy, isn't that what matters? And uhm.. yes people are allowed their opinions, I just want to voice mine that I don't think Zack was a bad boyfriend of any kind.

Ahaha. Quex. I never said Zack was a bad/horrible person/boyfriend. All I'm trying to say is that Cloud and Aerith's bond was stronger. Of course some may have said that Zack was a horriable BF. But I don't recall myself saying that. I adore Zack and Aerith's cute moments and of course Zack did make Aerith happy. I never said he didn't. |

Zack wasn't a bad boyfriend. If you ask me, he wasn't even a boyfriend. They might have wanted to be, but they never even kissed.:ermm: I know I might come off harsh towards Zack, but, that's because I'm an Aerith fan girl. And even though he might not have meant to, he put her through some pain. And yeah, Zack did give her some smiles, but I'm not denying that. I know they liked each other, but as you said, Aerith and him would have grown apart anywayz. It was just--too much of a puppy-love thing goin' on between them. But, I gotta ask, I heard that in CC Zack flirts with other women, and in the new KH game, Zack asks Aqua out on a date. The guy's a flirt, he probably would have hurt Aerith that way if they stayed together.

They have been referred to (I believe on more than on occasion) as koibito to one another and since you believe that means lover, that means they were together.
Because the guy was murdered, lol. Blame the ones who murdered him XD |

Where was that said? Also, I said that wrong. What I mean is, they might have been together romantically, but we never saw them do anything like kissing. That's why I can't see their relationship as serious. >.< |

So I'm curious, do you hold anything against Aerith for also being murdered because her death put Cloud through a lot of pain? and you see Cloud and Aerith as romantic right? They also never kissed Hell Lo/Cel, or Sq/Ri, or Zi/Da, or Stei/Bea also never kissed. It's not just kissing that makes a relationship. As for your koibito quote, the best I could find was a phrase used to describe them "恋人のような仲" which would be "a relationship like lovers." which IMO is just another thing showing that, yes they weren't that serious but I think they did the best they could for one another. |

Thank you for starting this thread, AerisStrife. :) I enjoyed reading through the comments and it’s so nice to see a thread like this without all the bullying and personal attacks that would’ve come with the topic on any other forum. Anyway....back to the topic at hand: First of all, I just want to say "ditto" to everything Difinity said. And thank you! You saved me from having to type pages and pages, and I still wouldn’t have been able to get my point across nearly as well. However, I also want to add one more thing to it. Part of the tragedy of Cloud and Aeris for me is not because she died in his arms or because of the bond they had, but the fact that even after her death, they’re both still thinking of each other. It’s not just Cloud who thinks of her. Even in the lifestream, Aeris is looking after him. I think it says a lot that after Aeris died, she was watching over Cloud, but not once did she try to see Zack or even think about him. You would think that for someone who was still in love with her ex, she’d be curious to see how he was doing, or who he was with, but nope, he only showed up when she was thinking of Cloud’s characteristics and somehow called him up, and she was just surprised to see him there. There was no admonishing him, no asking why he’d left her or wanting to know exactly how he’d died, no “It’s so good to see you after all these years!” Contrast that to her wanting to meet Cloud after her death the way he knew her. When you’re trying to save the planet, why worry about how you meet someone, so long as you get the job done? But it was important to Aeris that she met Cloud in a certain way (and at a time when there was a whole lot more she should’ve been more concerned about) and to me, that just shows how much she still cared for him even though she was dead and nothing she did or felt could change that. That’s probably what hurts me most of all. |
