Hey guys. I'm looking for a particular scan about how Aerith and Cloud's meeting was destined. I have a friend who says Cloud and Aerith weren't destined to meet and I told her it was kinda wrong, so she is asking where it says it. I don't remember. I would appreciate if anyone could link me the picture of the image or tell me where it exactly says it. |

All I can say is... which one? There's this one; #056 Stealing the Planet from Mother… Calamity from the skies… Aerith who sells flowers in Midgar saw the commotion and felt uneasy. (something about Avalanche against ShinRa) At the same time, Cloud joins Avalanche in their bombing activities. Aerith meets Cloud and their destinies collide. They start a journey to the Promised Land. A battle that puts the Planet’s future at stake takes place. -Final Fantasy Art Collection Cards Or this one from Aerith's Bio in DISMANTLED; 5. Aerith does her impressive appearance as the slum's flower vendor. The destined encounter with Cloud winds her, the only survivor of the Ancient species, up in the vortex of a huge fight. Where is the promised land? While being trifled with by fate, Aerith puts all her energy attempting to accomplish her role as "Cetra" to bring up the planet without fear of the harsh ending. Will those do? |

The ones that Forty Six quoted are the only ones I remember. But I hadn't noticed this part of the first quote before:
They start a journey to the Promised Land? Then did Cloud find the Promised Land at the end of FFVII?Also, what's with the title: "Stealing the Planet from Mother". When did Jenova ever own the Planet? Wasn't Sephiroth's goal to take dominion over the Planet for Jenova?

Come away, oh human child, to the waters and the wild.

What stands out to me is the way it says they are journeying to the Promised Land together. The way that the quote implies they are going to same Promised Land (rather than separate individual ones like most people have) means that being with each other is what makes them most happy. That's the way I interpret it. I also think this is consistent with Cloud's statement at the end that he will be with Aerith in the PL. About the stealing the Planet from Mother..maybe it's supposed to be from Seph's POV, like if he assumed Jenova should have rightful ownership of the Planet and originally tried to give it to her, but then decided that he just wanted to rule/destroy it himself? |

That card seems like a miss mash of several different ones. I don't suppose you have the actual scan of that one do you? |

Yes, but to me, it's implying that all of Avalanche is journeying to the Promised Land together, not just Cloud and Aerith. And actually, nobody in Avalanche ever said they were journeying to the Promised Land. They only said that they were after Sephiroth, as I remember, and asked Aerith more than once whether the Promised Land exists.
But remember that SE told us after ACC that where Cloud wakes up is his Promised Land, and where he woke up is Aerith's Church. So that would be inconsistent with what it's saying here. They didn't journey together to Aerith's Church.
Yes, I agree that it's consistent with what Cloud said at the end, but if they started a journey to the Promised Land, then I have to wonder whether he found it.
Yes, Sephiroth said that the Planet rightfully belonged to Jenova, but he never tried to rule it himself. He was always doing it for Jenova. He and Jenova were going to rule the Planet together. It just seems odd to me that they would put Sephiroth's POV as the title for a paragraph that's mainly about Cloud, Aerith, and Avalanche. And the first sentence (Calamity from the skies) is a reference to Jenova. |
