Some other quotes about Aerith being the default date: This is the payment she suggests when Cloud says that it'll cost her to hire him to be her bodyguard. This line shows the composed and mischievous side of her. It may be because of this promise that it's easier to have Aerith be the other party in Cloud's date when they're in the Gold Saucer. (pg. 30, FFVII Ultimania Omega) #065 AERITH GAINSBOROUGH Going to the Promised Land… The fated meeting with Cloud wavers the fate of Aerith. The Cetra language that Aerith heard from her mother when she was young. A person who nurtures the Planet. As the last of the Ancient race, she takes it as her responsibility to go to the Promised Land that she has not seen. Aerith sees traces of Zack in Cloud and her very pure heart leads her to develop a liking for Cloud. “Well then, let's see...... How about if I go out with you once?” (Payment for Cloud.) “No, Cloud... I'm searching for you...” (First and last date.) (Final Fantasy Art Collection) #111 The Planet’s largest amusement park is run by Dio. Cloud and company visit this place many times in their battle. They meet Cait Sith here. A promised date that ends in a magical night. In the city of desire that floats above the sands, the light memory of the two people is asleep even now... (??!!) “I think I must have seen him again, in you... But you're different. Things are different... No, Cloud... I'm searching for you...” (Final Fantasy Art Collection) The only date that gets mentioned in the FF Art Collection is Aerith's date with Cloud. |

Fuu, thanks for those quotes, Shiva! I know this will be WAY off topic but I just gotta ask. This part; "A promised date that ends in a magical night." catches my interest. How does their date end magically exactly? I know someone can try saying that the date itself is "magical" but that's not what it says at all. It says "that ends in a magical night" now, for me, when they say "magical night" I think of romance and romantic interactions between two people. |

I'd say that it is talking about their date. Their promised date was fulfilled at last when they finally went on said date at the Gold Saucer. So, their date was the "magical night". In other words, their date that they promised to have weeks (?) ago ended with a magical date night.

Well, of course it's about their date. What I was saying was that the date ends magically. But my main question is, how does it end magically?

Great quotes, FFG! Thanks for sharing them, too - I didn't know about all of them. ![]()
Well, see... I don't even think of the Clerith date as "canon". I think of it as "default". "Default" is very different than "canon", IMO.
No, the Low Affection version was described as "apathetic" in the FFVII UO, and apathetic means that something shows little or no emotion. It's also said that the High Affection version is the only version that's "meaningful". If they shared feelings in the Low Affection version, even if they exchanged feelings of friendship or even hatred, then the scene would have meaning.
But my site is opinion. They are stating that Cloti is canon as a FACT. IMO, that's highly inaccurate. To me, if SE says that there's two optional versions of the HW scene, then it's not saying that one version is canon. When you and Tres proved to me that there are only two versions of the HW scene, I corrected the bit saying there was a third version on my site. Remember, I used to think Tifa could tap her foot the next morning after the High Affection version? And true that nothing's likely to happen - but I find it really irresponsible.
If you say that two people have a "magical" date, then I'd say it means that the date is romantic. |

How did the night end in a magical way when they basically found out that Marlene was being held hostage? Did they just shrug it off afterwards? |

Wow, FFG, I never heard those quotes before, awesome. It's always good to hear new information like that.
Oh okay, sorry I thought you were saying default meant canon.
Aha, thanks.
They think it is fact. Heck most of them thought Cloti was canon long before that, remember? So even if they took back what they said in that article they'd probably still end with "Of course we know Cloti is still canon because of x" or something. And it's just one site anyway, it's like not every other FF site out there reported the same thing. People on TLS have always been in favor of Cloti being canon, it's really nothing new. You shouldn't let it bother you.
Well the date was over by then

Because she was being held hostage silly If caith allowed them to tell the others, it would have blown his cover even more. But its been awhile so let me check and make sure I'm remembering it correctly. |

But it's not fact. IMO, that's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. So they're making false claims.
Seems that would clue them in.
Then they should admit that they're a Cloti site with reporting influenced by a Cloti bias instead of trying to pose as a neutral site that reports info factually. And sorry, Quex... I shouldn't be taking this out on you. After all, you didn't write the article. poison&wine
They *don't* tell the others, but I don't actually see Cait telling them not to tell the others about Marlene. Just about him being a spy. |
