So, on another forum, I asked people who had the stronger will, Aerith or Sephiroth? It sparked some good discussion over there, so maybe it can here too.

That one guy
I'd say Aeris is able to endure more and pull through even when she shouldn't while Sephiroth's will is more along the offensive kind. He can't handle things going wrong without breaking down somewhat, but at the same time, his will is a very power weapon.

One Emerged From Shadows Into Light
Sephiroth's will is powerful to be able to exert mental dominance over clones, an alien life form, and even at times the hero himself.

Aeris however was able to summon the Lifestream, destroy Meteor, and make her presence know to Cloud, even from beyond death, without even the need for a host body/advent children, which Sephiroth needed. Her will is everything Sephy's is not, and once Cloud and co. have done everything they can, her will is the one that finally stops his plans.

I'd have to say their will is pretty much equal, although it's hard to say. I mean, Sephiroth blocked Aerith's will in FFVII which is why Holy stopped. She also avoids getting near him in Case of Lifestream - I don't think she'd avoid him if he wasn't any threat to her.

On the other hand, Aerith has to have a strong will in order to summon Holy and the Lifestream, and to cast Great Gospel even in death.

So I'd say it's pretty equivalent.

Oh, yeah =( She runs from him. I'd say they were equal too.

It's not like she runs in terror away from him. She avoids him in Case of Lifestream, so she must consider him a worthy rival.

I'm saying that I think Aerith's will is as strong as Sephiroth's, and that's pretty damned strong.

If she's not afraid--why run?

If she's not afraid--why run?

In the first place, it didn't say that she ran from him. It said that she "tried to keep away from him".

Because it would be dangerous for her to come in contact with him, the woman tried to keep away from the man’s consciousness. Because of this, she couldn’t learn much of the man’s plot. However, just once, when the man’s spirit had suddenly appeared near here, she discovered that he had made his memories of Cloud the core of his being. ~Case of Lifestream: White 1

Doesn't sound to me like she's afraid of him. She's just keeping her distance so he can't do anything to her, which is smart.

In the second place, she didn't run from him during FFVII in the boat from Junon, the Temple of Ancients, the Sleeping Forest, or the Forgotten City.

Aerith is powerful, too. Her powers can hurt Sephiroth while his powers can also hurt her. Like I said before, I think their powers are equivalent, although one is the power of good and one is the power of evil.

Much as I love Aerith, I actually voted for the Dark Side. Sephiroth was noted to have the strongest will ever by Nomura. No, I don't remember the quote. But even if Seph is number one, Aerith is certainly nuimber 2

Yet, I think Aerith is the only one who can actually *challenge* Sephiroth's will and have a chance of winning.
