Hey, my sister asked me about the quote that says the promise Cloud makes to Tifa is etched in his mind, can anyone help me find this quote in Japanese? Thanks for your time, everybody. |

To touch the light I see in your eyes...

It's from Cloud's profile in the 10th AU: Compilation Check A Promise to Tifa, Etched in his Memory. When Cloud left the village dreaming of being a SOLDIER, he swore to Tifa that he would come running to her rescue if she was in trouble. While it was Tifa who strong-armed him into making the promise, it seems that the idea that he must keep this vow was forever in Clouds mind. In BC he is obsessive about protecting people, and if he runs out of strength part way though he will mention the promise. Source: Lifestream.net |

Well, remember that SE has said that Aerith lives in Cloud's heart. I think that's a bit more significant than having a memory. ;) |

Yea, I know. My sister(who is studying the language)wants to see if the word used is mind or heart. EDIT: Hey, do you have the Japanese text for this one? Aerith Gainsborough - A girl with the blood of the Ancients flowing through her veins, who is engraved in Cloud's heart for the rest of his life. |

I just can't remember what topic it was discussed in. I've got a terrible memory. ![]() EDIT: found it! From Here 「彼の心に生涯刻まれることとなる古代種の血を引く少女」 A girl with the blood of the Ancients flowing through her veins who is engraved in Cloud's heart for the rest of his lives (forever). |

Here's Tifa's: 胸にきざまれたティファとの約束 胸 means heart or chest. ( http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E8%83%B8 ) Not sure why hito used memory. As for the same Kanji being used Which is what I'm assuming you're looking for... In both cases the verb 刻 was used. In Tifa's case it was written in kana which is きざ which would be 刻 in Kanji and in Aeriths' case it was written as kanji, (刻) http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%88%BB Both come from the verb Kizamu http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%88%BB%E3%82%80 EDIT: OMFG google's translation:
That's awesome  |

"mune" is breast, chest, or heart. I would assume that he/she use "memory" maybe due to the context of what is written. Though, this is just my opinion and it is better to ask that person instead. Actually, it would translate as: The promise with Tifa that is etched in his heart Again, I would look at context.
What he/she translated here would probably not match with the title of it. So, I would assume that is why "memory" is use instead. If Cloud is keeping this vow in his mind, then it would not match and not be in his heart. Thus, the context is pointing to the promise in a memory in his mind. But then again, it is up to each and every individual to decide. So, you can believe me or not...I'm not forcing this on anyone.
A minor correction to this: A girl descended from the Ancients who is engraved in his heart for life. |

I asked Hito and he said it was a context thing for why he used memory, so yeah you're right there. |
