It's obvious that our forum members are fans of Cloud and Aerith. But what other characters in FFVII were some of your favorites? You can pick three characters in the list above, or - if I haven't named a character(s) that you really enjoy - then pick Other and name the character(s) in your post. I'm interested to see whether Clerith fans tend to be fans of certain characters other than Cloud and Aerith. Also - was there any character(s) that you wanted to see in AC who didn't get included? |

I'm not actually that big a fan of Cloud.... Anyways, I chose Barret, Sephiroth and Yuffie. Barret to me has always been massively underrated, I felt he was one of the most important characters in the game. His passion was what kept Avalanche going, and he believed in helping the Planet more than any of the others. He made me laugh too, some of his lines and gestures were pretty funny, but he didn't become one dimensional comic relief like Cid, who everyone seems to think is so awesome because he swears.... I thought Barret was ace and SE give him too little attention. Sephy has the opposite problem, too overrated/too much attention. But he did have incredible presence and played the role of antagonist very well IMO. He'll always be one of my favourite characters but I don't want to see him in any more games and I don't want to know more about him now. I think he actually has less substance now, because of the compilation, but I'll admit he is so goshdarnpretty in CC. Yuffie was great as some relief from the wholesome heroines, and provided some spark in Aerith's absence. I usually gravitate towards the rebel who doesn't give a shit lol! I think her arrogant, loud personality was somewhat toned down in the compilation, she kinda became a Rikku/Selphie style ditz in DoC I noticed.
Errr, most of the members of Avalanche? I don't count jumping up and down and failing to make any impact on a monster I could have roasted with them in FFVII as being included D: I guess I wouldn't have minded actually seeing Reeve in AC.... |

Cold..... But I'm still here.

Reno: He's a bad-ass... 'nuff said. ![]() Elmyra: I favorited her out of admiration... since she was the caretaker for Aerith throughout her childhood years, think of all the times that she's been confronted by Shin-ra and how much of a burden it was for not only Aerith, but Elmyra as well. She's won my respect. Bugenhagen: His stories and knowledge in-game were great. The old man just stuck for me, heh. |

I chose Vincent, Yuffie, and Red XIII/Nanaki. Vincent, I always liked simply because he was never fighting for any self-righteous cause... he wanted revenge on Hojo, pure and simple. And yet, he wasn't a jerk either, he was just a bit distant, and had an interesting backstory and character design. Yuffie... I'm not crazy about the fact that she steals your materia, but man people hate her more for that than other characters who do REAL bad things in the game, like murder and political manipulation. And really, Yuffie has an awesome personality, and is one of the few characters who actually benefitted from the compilation IMHO. Red XIII... he's a talking dog/lion/WTF/thing/etc. Who was clearly inspired by Star Wars. 'Nuff said. As for AC... part of me is trying to pretend that the compilation doesn't exist, so... yah... |

Vincent, Nanaki, and Rufus for me. I would have added Reno if there was an extra vote. I always loved Vincent and Nanaki needs more love. I guess so many (couple-crazed) people overlook him since they can't just lump him with a girl. Also, Rufus and Reno just appealed to me. Can't say exactly why. |

Vincent, Yuffie and Reno (VII only, AC Reno is dumb) Don't ask why I chose them. I just like them better than the regular playable characters (besides Aerith of course). |

I had to pick Vincent, Nanaki, and Bugenhagen. I loved all of their stories and personalities. Even though Vincent is so distant, there was always a sense of mystery about him that was intriguing. I loved Bugenhagen's wisdom about the nature of the Planet. It was almost like having another Ancient in the story who could explain the mysteries that even Aerith didn't fully comprehend. Nanaki was just a fascinating character to me. I really enjoyed his personality, character design, and backstory. If I'd had more choices, I would've picked Cid, Yuffie, and Elmyra, too. As for AC, I feel the same way as Vixie:
True... I would've loved to see more of Vincent, Nanaki, Yuffie, Cid, and Barret. The few fight scenes with them and occasional comments weren't enough. I would've loved to see Bugenhagen and Elmyra included, too.
You know, I've grown to appreciate Barret more since the release of AC. Even though he didn't get much screen time in AC, I really liked his new non-Mr. T appearance, and his character's story in Case of Tifa and Case of Barret. It made me see his FFVII character in a new light, so I'd agree that he's typically underrated. |

I ended up choosing Vincent, Nanaki, and Cid. I've always loved all three of those characters and their roles in the original game. It seems they, especially Nanaki, have been pretty ignored in the Compilation. D: If I'd had more votes, I would have chosen Reno and Rude. I was tempted to just choose Reno, since I've always loved him, but I just couldn't do it without picking Rude. I dunno, they just go together. I was also very tempted to choose Cait Sith/Reeve, as well. His character has strangely always appealed to me, even though most people seem to dislike Cait Sith. |

It's always difficult to choose fave characters, especially from FF-games. I have too many of those. D8 But I decided to go with Bugenhagen , Vincent and Cid. Nanaki, Reno and Yuffie were close behind. Tseng is cool, too. And Elena and Rude andandand...*burnz* |

Zack, Sephiroth and Tifa are my next 3 faves after Cloud and Aerith. :3 I've loved Zack and Sephiroth since before I ever even played the game. XD My friend who got me into FFVII is an obsessed Sephiroth and Zack fan, so I ended up learning the most about them first. ^^ And it's been a roller-coaster ride with Tifa for me. I liked her at first, then I hated her, and now I love her to death. XD |

I picked Barret, Nanaki, and Elmyra. Barrett - He was very funny, and even though he was rough around the edges, and often had a hard time expressing what he wanted to say, you could still tell he had a big heart and really cared about everyone. I thought the contrast between the rough and tumble side of him and the tender, caring side of him was really endearing. Nanaki - Similar to the reasons I like Barret, I think it was the paradoxes in Red's character that endeared him to me. Though Red is sage and mysterious in some respects, he is still just a kid in others...like how much he depends on Bugenhagen (how sweet was it when he was crying for his grandpa in the Shinra building?), and when you talk to him on the Highwind near the end of the game, and he says he misses the way Aeris used to pet him (or something like that..it's been a while since I played the game). Elmyra - for the same reason as VaporTrail - admiration. I think it must have taken a special kind of lady to raise someone as special as Aeris. |

Yuffie, Nanaki/Red XIII and Barret. Yuffie - She's a patriotic ninja who steals for her country, while being hilariously amusing. I really like the part where, after gotten over the problem with her dad, they joined together in their plan to steal Materias from Cloud and co. Nanaki - Well... he's a freakin' cat/dog/lion with his tail on fire, yet was one of the more sophisticated character in the cast. I really like his character development in Cosmo Canyon. Barret - Ah, Barret, our favourite tough guy who's just a big marshmallow to Marlene. He's stubborn, but means well in his activities against Shinra, even though they cause many people their lives. His characterisation was one of my favourite to watch. |

Ah this was tough. The Turks are some of my favourite characters, but I couldn't just pick one so I went with Tifa, Yuffie and Cait Sith. Tifa - She's a sweet girl and yet at the same time she can fight and stand up for herself. I like strong girl characters. Yuffie - What's there to say? She's a hyper ninja who has a patriotic side to her. The materia stealing part didn't really annoy me, I enjoyed the Wutai sidequest. Plus she has a cool weapon. Cait Sith - I've always found his story of being a Shinra spy who eventually turns good interesting and, well, I love cats ![]() |

You know who I forgot to include? Zack! I can't believe I forgot to put him on the list! ![]() I think the results here are rather interesting. It's pretty obvious that most of us have more interest in characters like Vincent, Nanaki, Yuffie, and Sephiroth to Tifa. Does that affect our view of the Love Triangle, or not? |

I found several characters simply more interesting than Tifa, like the three I mentioned, perhaps even Nanaki. Her story simply didn't inspire me enough.... okay yeah, you like a guy, you don't say a whole lot, you angst over him....she was a lot more memorable in battle to me. However I do like Tifa a lot more than Vincent, or the Turks for example, cause I just don't get their popularity
Not for me. I liked Terra more than Celes, however I liked Celes as Locke's potential love interest more than her. Same with Quistis, I liked her much more than Rinoa, however I wasn't interested in seeing her with Squall at all during FFVIII. It's not always about liking a character more. |
