Took me awhile to notice this section.

Well, I'd sure like to get to know other people here, so ask me anything ya' like!

Here's some things to go by if you're unsure what to ask:

My No. 1 game is the Suikoden series. The only game I haven't played is V, but everything else I'm greatly knowledgeable in.

A few other game series I love are the Silent Hill series, and the Ace Attorney games.

FFVII I just got into, with the first game I've played being Crisis Core because I couldn't find a copy at the time. (Had to settle for a play through on youtube before CC's release. Eventually did get the game and am close to completing it for the first time.)

As for some of my hobbies; I do writing, drawing, and sometimes fan videos. (Thing is, I'm very lazy... so they take me forever. XD)

Well, that's all I can think of. Feel free to ask away on anything you may be curious about!

EDIT: A few things I forgot to mention.

I do have other FF games, although I have not played them yet. Same goes for KH (I have all of those games that've been released here so far). I have FFIII (DS) FFIV (DS), FFVIII (through HILARIOUS circumstances), FFTactics 1 and 2 (PSP), and FFX (which I'm reluctant to play).

I will be playing all these games eventually, but for important reasons, they may take awhile.

That is all. ^_^

Well hello there, so you are truly new to Final Fantasy, that is very exciting. I am pleased to see you have your hands on some of the old school FF. I love 4&6.

Anyway onto some questions...how did you come to the Final Fantasy series? Through a friend, hearing about the series reputation through gaming sites or magazines?

I played one of the Suikoden games, it was fun...but it was so long ago I don't even remember which one it was  I thought the music was wonderful however.

Oh one more question, why are you reluctant to play FFX?

Yeah, I also have the remake of the first one for PSP, which I forgot to mention. ^^ I would've been happy with whatever version I got, but these were the easiest to find. (Still trying to locate 5, 6, and 9, too.)

I've known about the series for ages, but I was always opposed to it. I always saw the FF series as over hyped and would frankly get sick of hearing about it all the time. (I'm one of those types that prefer the underdog stuff to the popular stuff, too.)

However, a former friend was REALLY into it. Well actually, she only liked FFVII. (But it was more because she loved slashing Zack/Cloud more than the game. She never even made it passed half-way through disc-1.) She had been anticipating the release of CC and she had told me about Zack a few times. She once brought him into one of our mock-RPs (where we'd pretend to be associated with the characters) and I became slightly intrigued by an idea that formed in my head. Ever since, I got into FFVII and decided to at least give that one a try. (It was mostly because Zack did intrigue me, but I did start to like Cloud as well.)

Now, I've decided to play all the games I can find, or at least the ones that sound more interesting. But, they have to wait until I've finished FFVII and a few other things.

That's one of the best aspects of Suikoden: the music. To this day, nothing beats Suikoden's music IMHO. ^_^

By the way, can you tell me what you remember of it? I may be able to pinpoint which one it was.

That comes from a personal grudge. You see, FFX was actually the first game I decided to try, having borrowed it from another friend of mine. Sadly, I could NOT put up with the main character, Tidus. From his whiny voice and general grating personality, I gave up within the first hour and vowed that was the first and last time I'd play any FF game. Good thing FFVII saved the day and I decided to get it and play it one more time, but I'm still dreading what I remember. (And the laugh scene... Oh, God. X_X )

Thank you! ^_^

- When I first played I liked how it all started, but when it got to the end so quickly I had hated it for awhile. Then I played Rhapsodia/Suikoden Tactics, loved it and now like both games when put together.

- I have quite a few, but the ones I've been paying the most attention to lately is Kyril and Lazlo.

- Purple, blue, or black. :D

Okay, I did a little digging and I am fairly sure it was the first Suikoden, I know it was old school graphics and the plot sounds right to me to I believe it was the first one.

Anyhoo that is very interesting...I have to say it makes me sad about your feelings on FFX, I know a lot of people do get annoyed with Tidus but I have to say that for me personally he really grew on me as the game progressed and now he is one of my most favorite male heroes of FF or any games really. Plus I just think X is an amazing game, it falls right behind FFVII as a favorite in the series and in games overall it is right up there as well. In "newer" graphics it's tops and it just meshes in with FFVII, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross :D

So you said that you think Suikoden has the best music of any games eh? Why?

For me I would put it behind many of the Final Fantasy games music and the Chrono Series music...but that is just my preference  I just think the composers get it right with the balance of beauty and intensity, being able to capture the characters personalities and even town personalities...along with phenomenial battle music.

That being said again I do hold Suikoden's music in high regard, I just want to know why it is your favorite.

It's funny because of just how I got it. I've heard many things about the game and was never intending to get it. FFVII was the only game I was ever going to own.

But, by some bizarre twist of Fate, an opportunity presented itself to me.

My Godfather/brother-in-law is a garbage man, and during one of his routes, he told me he found another video game in the trash. Curious, I asked which one and, lo and behold, it was FFVIII in the flesh.

After much lulz was had, I asked him to bring it to me thinking it might be faulty, but no; It actually works very well, so after more lulz I decided to keep it and play it fully someday.

And that's my story to how I came to own FFVIII. XD

I honestly tried to like him. A few months ago before Dissidia was released in Japan, I had thought maybe I was too hard on Tidus and tried to give him another chance. I looked up many youtube cutscenes and nothing changed. Japanese or English, he still grated on my nerves to no end. I did at least learn how to tolerate him, but I still just think he's... gyaaa. However, things may change once I play again, so maybe, just maybe...

So you said that you think Suikoden has the best music of any games eh? Why?

Well, same reasons you listed about FF. Suikoden just captures this mystical and emotional feel. It gives you great imagery to many things and not just the scene you hear it to. It's really great at capturing the mood of the scenario taking place before you, and that's not all. Konami released remastered songs on several volumes (Asian, Celtic 1, 2, and 3, Vocal, and Piano). Those remastered songs make it even better.

I do find a lot of FF music catchy and some are perhaps just as good. (You're Not Alone!, Aerith's Theme, and Price of Freedom to name a few). But Suikoden has so many good songs I can just sit here and listen to and allow my imagination to take over, relaxing as I do so. There's also many songs that I listen to when I'm in a happy and cheery mood, and some I listen to when I'm trying to imagine a darker scene.

That's just how appealing the music of Suikoden is to me. Don't get me wrong, though. I do love a lot of other game OSTs as well, but nothing can top the feelings I get while listening to Suikoden's brilliant pieces.

Try sampling three of my favorites from the Celtic Collection if you'd like:
Eternal Empire (a calm, relaxing and slightly romantic theme)
Toppo-Nei-Shabon (at first slow, but gets very upbeat)
Carried by Ripples (a soft and happy tune, real calming)

Those are just a few, there's so many other good ones. But this is just to show you some of the songs that just envelope me when listening. ^_^

Hiya Rogue! Ugh, Tidus is a little irritating and that laugh scene is one of the most cringeworthy scenes in FF history....but surely Auron winz enough for you to go a bit further! Also, you may enjoy the ending....

Anyways, I get you are a big RPG fan, but do you like any other genre of games?

Heya, Vixie!

Auron does indeed appear to be one of the redeeming characters I've seen in the game. I figure that as long as he's in the game enough, I'll be able to take it more. (Besides, him PWNing Tidus and Yuna all the time will be great.)

Anyways, I get you are a big RPG fan, but do you like any other genre of games?

Of course, I listed two of them in my first post:

1. The Silent Hill series. My all-time favorite survival-horror games.

2. The Ace Attorney series. You play as a Defense Attorney with much lulz and pop cultural references everywhere. What more could you want? XD (Although, I'm still a bit emo over the fact Apollo replaced Phoenix in AA4.)

Other non-RPG games I've played and liked were "Oddworld" and "Evil Zone", but I doubt many will remember those games. XD

Haha, you win. My "funny" story was that I paid about 20 pound or 16, can't remember on ebay for a brand new platinum version. Then days later I found a black copy of the game in a local shop for £5. *doh* I ended up snapping that up for my big sister, I couldn't let that one slip me by ^_^

Lets see, questions.. I must think of more awful questions lol.

Have you played any of your other FF games yet?

How did you come by your username?

What's your favourite food/drink

Is it tomAtO or tomarto?

What other RPG games do you like besides FF or Suikoden?

I'm not sure if it was asked before, if it was disregard it.. (ooh another big word for moi!), what's your favourite band/singer and song?

Dang, that must've sucked. Oh, well. Least you got the prettier version, no? And that was nice of ya'! Did she like it?

Have you played any of your other FF games yet?

Other than FFVII related games, no, I haven't. I played one hour of FFX from a friend's copy, and 15 minutes of testing FFVIII to make sure it worked.

I'm planning a big, daring fanfic that deals with FFVII, so I'm mostly focusing on that game for the moment. After it's done, I will be playing the others.

Heaven's Cloud

How did you come by your username?

Awhile ago, I was an X-men: Evolution fan and my favorite character was Rogue. Even though I've long outgrown it, it's become my online name everywhere, so I still use it. As for "Kyne", it's my mom's maiden name.

Heaven's Cloud

What's your favourite food/drink

Fav. Food: Chinese food or chicken parmigiana.
Fav. Drink: Water, apple juice, or ginger ale.

Heaven's Cloud

Is it tomAtO or tomarto?

Potato, potahto. XP

Heaven's Cloud

What other RPG games do you like besides FF or Suikoden?

Lessee...

Legend of Legaia
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Eternia
Beyond the Beyond *hides behind flame shield*
Ephemeral Fantasia
Legend of Mana
Legend of Dragoon (to some extent)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...

Heaven's Cloud

I'm not sure if it was asked before, if it was disregard it.. (ooh another big word for moi!), what's your favourite band/singer and song?

No worries, it wasn't. ^^

I used to favor a few of them, but over time, I realize I never really care for the band or the singer. If I just happen to like a few of their songs, that's about it. I don't have specific genre of music, either. If I like what I hear, I like it. Simple, eh? XD

But to name a few songs I really like at the moment:

"What About Now" by Chris Daughtry
"You And Me" by Lifehouse
"Black Balloon" by Goo Goo Dolls

These songs are kinda inspiration for that fanfic I mentioned earlier. They make me think of the pairings I'm setting up. Geeky, I know, but meh. :P

Hi Rogue! :huggle:

If you were to design FFXIV, how would you make it unique & distinct from the previous ones? (Include battle system, magic & characters design...etc).

Whoa! That's quite a question! Hmm, I guess I'd just do what Square does:

1. Look back on one of the past FF games' plots and get "re-inspired" by it.
2. Take older characters and change the traits, personalities, styles, and models around for the new crew.
3. Make the battle and/or magic system a lot more complicated that fans will literally drive themselves insane figuring it out and acknowledge how awesome it is because of said complications.
4. ???
5. Profit!

Seriously though, that would take a lot of thought that I'd have to get back to ya' on. I have a bunch of other storylines I've been thinking about and I don't wanna come up with too much, as my brain wouldn't be able to take it! 8O

Hi, RogueKyne!

I hear you on Suikoden. Suikoden II was perfection in my opinion, and to this day, it remains my favorite game EVER.

Couldn't have said it better. I feel the same way about the Chrono Trigger and Suikoden soundtracks- like you can just feel the adventure pulsing through you.

Okay, sorry for the fangirly ramblings. Just mentioning Suikoden does that to me *g*

Favorite moments in Suikoden II?

And lol...someone hated FFVIII enough to throw it away? D: So, what're your opinions on that game?

And just out of curiosity, how come you're so proficient in translating Japanese?^_^

It was certainly a good game. I won't say it's the best game ever, though, because I think the series as a whole is great. ^_^

I haven't played Chrono, but yes. The Suikoden music just manages to capture so many feelings in it's songs, which is why I hold it as the RPG with the best music.

Kusari Yarou

It does that to me as well. No worries. ^_^

Kusari Yarou

Favorite moments in Suikoden II?

Lessee... I loved the introduction of Nanami, I loved the flashback and the moonlight scenes between Riou and Jowy, I liked the scene where all of Two River banded together to push back the Highland army, I liked the scene where Miklotov and Camus renounced their oath to their obviously corrupt Commander and several loyal knights followed them. I liked the scenes where Viktor and Flik come to Riou and Jowy's rescues and more.

There're many moments, but that's to name a few of them. I also felt lost during Nanami's death scene... My party felt so empty without her.

Kusari Yarou

And lol...someone hated FFVIII enough to throw it away? D: So, what're your opinions on that game?

I can't say since I just lent it to my best friend (who has named Squall "ZZZZZZZ" to represent his feelings about FFVIII as well. XD) But I've been watching Spoony's FFVIII review compilation and the flaws he points out in this game are really putting me off. :ermm:

Kusari Yarou

And just out of curiosity, how come you're so proficient in translating Japanese?^_^

Oh, I'm FAR from proficient. Compared to the other MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more credible translators on this site, I pale in comparison. But the reason I know a little is from using my spare time for self-teaching because I lack a social life. XP
