I've always had this question in my mind. What is going to happen when Cloud dies (let's say he's an old man) and he goes back to the lifestream? Is he going to be there, all old and wrinkly with Aerith who is all ...not? I remember reading from MoTP that Hojo and President Shinra were there and they looked the same as when they had died. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

I see. So it's not really the lifestream... more like the promised land. I don't think I would be very happy if I was old for all eternity. So I see what you're saying. Isn't there a movie about a guy who looks younger as he gets older? |

One Emerged From Shadows Into Light

First of all MoTP = ? Anyhoo, this is certainly a loaded question XD I'm not sure the Lifestream = the Promised Land. The way Aeris talked about it throughout the game, the Promised Land seemed more like a concept than a place... like inner peace, or something in particular that makes you happy/gives you a reason to live, etc. Cloud even said something like "The Promised Land... I think I can find her there." In other words, Aeris IS his Promised Land. Maybe for Barret it'd be Marlene, or for the Turks it's their job, or for Cid it'd be flying or perhaps even Shera. As for what the Lifestream actually is... I had wanted to go into that, but it simply raises too many questions IMHO, so I'll refrain for now ![]() Also, I've got a somewhat unrelated question... does MoTP say exactly when Hojo enters the Lifestream? Like whether it's during FFVII or Dirge of Cerberus? |

Well, you're assuming that Cloud will be old and wrinkly when he dies. For all we know, Cloud may die in 5 years. Given the life he leads, I'm not sure he'll survive til old age. :lol:But once Cloud dies, I think he and Aerith will return to the Planet together. If you remember Dyne and Eleanor in MoTP, Eleanor no longer had form. Her spirit was still conscious and waiting for Dyne, though. Cloud won't have the guilt that Dyne had, and therefore won't be prevented from returning to the Planet with Aerith.
MoTP=Maiden of the Planet, a novella released by SE in the FFVII Ultimania Omega. It's about what happened to Aerith in the Lifestream after her death.
Regardless of whether or not the Lifestream is the Promised Land, spirits still return there after their death. While I don't think the Lifestream and the Promised Land are one and the same thing, I do think the Promised Land is *found* in the Lifestream.
I would have to agree. What makes you happiest is your Promised Land. However, you have to remember that all things on the Planet are comprised of the Lifestream. Therefore, whatever your Promised Land is, it's found within the Lifestream. I babbled more about it here: The Promised Land Revisited
Essentially, it's the essence of all life on the Planet.
Hojo enters the Lifestream in FFVII. However, his body has been so corrupted by Jenova cells that he'll never be able to return to the Planet. Essentially, he has lost his humanity. So his spirit is *located* in the Lifestream, but his spirit can never be part of the Lifestream. In other words, what happens to his soul isn't typical of what happens to other souls. |
