498 Years Later...?; Second game ending in FF7

You've all seen the final ending of FF7 where it shows 500 years later RedVIII (looking really old) running with two cubs of his kind. It is my belief that AC took place 2 years after the events of FF7, but before that ending. And 498 years later, that ending took place.

When I watched the original Japanese version of AC, I noticed at the beginning of the film there was the number "498" along with some Japanese text I can't read, which led me to believe it said 498 years ago.

We already knew that Cloud was spiritually connected to Aerith in AC. But surely Cloud and his other friends have passed on now, meaning Cloud is now really with Aerith.

So is this ending up to interpretation, or do you all believe what I have just said? I'm just wondering. And sorry if there was already a similar topic of this as I couldn't find any.

That's almost exactly what I thought! It does, in fact, take 498 years earlier. And surely, Cloud and everyone else has passed on, so it could be a possibility. They should reveal that in Advent Children: Complete, huh? :)

"I'll cut them off" O.O
I've thought about this a while ago.

The thing that I thought of when I thought about Cloud being with Aeris, is that his spirit might have already broken up and he was reincarnated into someone else.(Or whatever Bugenhagen explained in that FMV sequence) But then in MOTP it seems that Aeris has some sort of power to bring out people's consciousness and keep them intact from the pool of souls, so I don't know. Meh-

DoC has taken place 1 year after AC, so that would change the number to 497 (as in "497 years ago"). That final ending shown in the game is a HUGE time gap, making it possible for more FF7 events to take place in between (such as AC and DoC).

Also, I think ACC seems to be the AC movie itself with a bunch of scenes that didn't make it into the actual movie, but now put together in the movie. At least that's what I gather when I saw a trailer of it on youtube.

In the end, though, they're all dead, except Red VIII. Red VIII was already old to begin with, but his age number was actually equivalent to that of a young age of a human being (explained in the game). And it certainly was possible for him to live over 500 years long due to his race. So knowing this, I'm happy :cleris:

BTW, that's an interesting interpretation you have come up with, MistaCloudStrife.

That one guy
Just remember, when somebody brings up the point that Cloud and Aeris can't be gotether because she's dead, remind them that at the end of the game, everybody else except red XIII is dead too.

No, Aerith doesn't have the power to do that to others. Being Cetra allows her to keep her own identity instead of mixing into the pool of souls, but she can't keep others from "mixing in". It also allows her to keep from returning to the Planet by the strength of her will, like the Cetra spirits at the Temple of Ancients told her.

498 years later, the other members of Avalanche would all be dead except for Red XIII and perhaps Vincent. It's completely possible that Aerith waited for Cloud to die, then they returned to the Planet together.

Actually, since Nomura said that Aerith's consiousness is living inside of Cloud, it seems that their souls have *already* merged together like Dyne and Eleanor's in MoTP. As a result, their souls would indeed return to the Planet together.
