One of my friends who had just finished playing Chain of Memories call me on the phone screaming that Cloud is a jerk and shouldn't end up with Aerith. On a side note, I haven't played the game yet, but I have read plenty. I guess, from what she said, that Cloud is basically Hades's hit man to kill Hercules, just like in the orignal Kingom Hearts game, but he really turns out to be a jerk. From my own assumptions, it's just he wants his lost memories back. But her argument was that Cloud doesn't really make any drastic changes in his character when he's not around Aerith, which in her opinion is bad, because he has to be able be a good person when she's not around. I thought that it was a fair enough opinion to form, except for the fact Cloud, before Aerith ever comes in the actual VII game, he's a jerk face that I really didn't like, but the character transition was nice and sweet. I think the fact that Cloud can't remember Aerith or anybody else, so the transition isn't there to remember either. Also something Sora says to Cloud catches my attention, because I saw a cap in English: "If it's an important memory, there's no way it could ever be gone forever." I guess I want to interpret that as Aerith herself is never gone forever. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, I never finished the game, but *spoiler here* Wasn't the characters in Chain of Memories actually just Sora's memories of them brought to life rather than the actual characters themselves? |

I haven't played the game at all, so I'm not entirely sure. I've just seen pictures and read some stuff about it. From summaries I've read, it's pretty much Sora himself trying to obtain memories that are lost, and a lot of them coming to life. But my friend insists that no matter what, Cloud is still a jerk. Which, you know, is fair somewhat, but he changes through out the actual Final Fantasy VII game. |
