![]() MT has proved that influential =/= good necessarily. At all. D: Please, OSC. Just because she's Mormon doesn't mean she can write. ;; [And whyyy does everyone say that a Mormon woman = housewife?! Not true. D: I got plans before kids, baby. 8) This novel definitely was NOT inspired. ]Haha, the way he wrote that article made it seem like he hadn't even read the book. A waste of his brain cells, plz. D: He seemed kinda "uhh" about it. Vague-ish. Uhh, I'd be too, if I was asked to write an article about that crap. He made it a point to say that it was teenage girls + their mothers fangirling over it [and he sounded skeptical about the whole deal, lawl]. I promise never to do something just to please the masses if I get published. .____. |

*has snuck in again* You gaiz amuse me, lolz. The Twilight fandom sucks majorly *eventhoughIdolikethebooks*. Maybe I should just be the resident pet Twilight fan for you all, hmm? I do agree that it's lame when people take this book as a model for real life. Excuse me, but how dumb to you have to be to think that you should follow Bella's example? Does the phase 'work of fiction' or 'fantasy' mean nothing to them? I mean, I love it, but I'm not going to think O MAI PERFECT RELATIONSHUP MODEL YOZ!! MUST DO THINGS EGACTLY TEH SAME AS TEHM!!! ![]() *coughs* Anyway, poofing back out again! *poof!*

Now I feel kinda guilty posting this riiiight after Alantie *g* But I skimmed through lotsa interviews and copy-pasted quotes already, so here goes- thought these might amuse you guys:
I understand loving your characters like they’re real people, but this is a bit too much! Sounds like a fangirl with a Stu-fic. ![]() What made me lulz the most:
GASP! He is even a benevolent killer! Even when he KILLS PEOPLE, he’s zomg so GEWD! Srsly, would it kill(pun intended) to have your hero falter every now and then? Even Louis, ‘most human’ of Anne Rice’s vampires could give in to temptation, no matter who he was killing. |

Ok, so that's enough proof now that she ripped off Lestat. And her gushing over how sexy HER character is is absolutely disgusting. I don't know any professional writer who does something that shallow and stupid. She's admitting that the best thing about him is his appearance when an author is supposed to concentrate on the character's character, especially in a BOOK (and when he's supposed to be in high school). It takes away SUBSTANCE from a character to be that dependent on his appearance. How revolting of her. Extremely unprofessional and I will never take her seriously. |

^LOLZ. Should be Hugh Hefner or somethin' though. : D Awwwww Alantie, hello. XD @MT: WOW. Er. She should be proud, I suppose. What awesome people. At least she'll be happy to know Twilight is of an epic proportion as well---who knew books could actually brainwash millions of people? : DActually, concerning Edward, I suppose SM has no option but to gush over his physical appearance. Other than that, he's got pretty much nothing else. (Oh well, except for his body glitter.) |

*poofs in* No, it isn't so bad here in the viper pit, lol. You don't attack me. XD Since I hate the fandom, I figure I'd come in every so often to rant about its suckiness, even though I like the books themselves. It's the idiot rabid fans that annoy the snot out of me. So I am your friendly Twilight pet. I kinda laugh at SM's gushing over Edward. Though I admit, I am quite in love with some of my own original characters, so I understand to a degree- but she's taken it kind of far. *poofs out*

I agree with Alantie. I think it's okay to be "in love" with your own character, but she does take it to a bad extent. It's like... someone falling in love with a comic book character. They aren't real, get over it.![]() |

Random fact: The words 'I love you' appear 22 times in Twilight. I actually read out a few sections that you guys have pointed out to my English class, and they all fell over laughing, including my teacher!!I this thread.

You think they realize that their music is more Acoustic pop/pop than Rock? What the heck!? Now that was just lame... "You smell like... warewolf... tonight." ..... LAME. It had a nice beat, but the lyrics are just annoying. |

GAWD. If I only do one thing while I'm at this forum today, then it has to be joining this club It's not the vampire fandom I've got a problem with or even YA-fiction vampires (anyone remember L. J. Smith's "Nightworld" series? I read all of those in about a fortnight when I was 11/12, and I loved it to bits), but I just can't see what all the fuss is about with Twilight. It's just not very well written, characterized or plotted, and I don't see how it deserves its reputation as one of the best YA novels out there, next to HP and all that. Even for a YA-series, it seems very shallow. Edward's hotness is not the only thing in the world that matters, girls. And I don't have a problem with unhealthy relationships in fiction either (in fact, I can really enjoy them), but call a thing by its true name. When you have an obviously unhealthy and rather unlikely and unequal relationship in a story but present it as "OMG BOOTIFUL CO-DEPENDENT TWOO WUV"...that really bothers me. I don't think it promotes anything positive. Wish-fulfillment and objectification being presented as love is pretty sickening stuff. I'm all for fantasy, escapism, and I like relationships too intense/complicated for real life when I'm reading fiction, and it is romantic, but it should still have some substance to it other than the melodrama. Oh, and that band! While it's great that the books have inspired these girls to make music, the obsession-level is a bit off-putting, and their lyrics pretty much illustrate everything I dislike so much about these books. Especially stuff like this:

Can I join this club if I realize the fail that is my fandom and accept the fail anyway? I need a safe haven to proclaim that Edward is a Gary Stu and a pedophile. The Edward fangirls will murder me if I say it anywhere else. (I mean, seriously, they get vicious.) Twilight sucks and I love it... I has conflicted emotions!

Please, for the love of God let me join this club. And for my acceptance, I bring to you fellow haters a gift: Otahyoni's twilight Parody This lovely lady came up with a hilarious parody of how poorly written Twilight is. I do hope she doesn't mind me sharing her genius. |
