We're having serious wildfires here in San Diego, and I'm very scared. I may have to evacuate today, and have no idea if our home will be safe. I'm packing my things right now, so if I'm gone for awhile, that will be why. I was outside for only a minute to get my luggage in case, and immediately had an asthma attack from the smoke in the air. I'll try to inform you all, but I may not be able to if I have to leave quickly.

I would be terrified as well if I were in your shoes, Taco. *hugs* I'm not from that part of the states, but I've heard a lot of horrifying stories about Cali and its wildfires. If any, what types of measures are they taking to help ensure the safety of the people there? I really hope you can find a good, safe spot to hide out at for a while. Will you be staying with family? Let us know how things go. I'm wishing you guys the best of luck and pray that nothing bad happens. |

There are a lot of evacuations happening currently, and many schools are being used for evacuation centers right now. I'm not sure if we'd have people to stay with, perhaps friends of my husband's parents. My family lives in Oregon, so not of much help. My husband's at work right now, so if we evacuate, I'm not sure if I'd have to wait for him to get me or if his parents will. Right now everyone's calling each other like crazy, so it's difficult to know. I'm just glued to the news waiting to find out anything for this area. I'll do my best to let everyone know if I have to leave, hopefully the power doesn't go out. |

That sounds horrible. I've had an experience like that in Canada once but it was no where near as bad as this one sounds. I'm in Vegas so I'm pretty far away from that area. I really hope things get better for everyone there soon! I don't know how I would deal with that myself. You're very brave! You have everyone's support!

Still here so far, and keep packing things. I think I'm both calmer and more afraid now, and just incredibly sad. It's incredibly bizarre for me to have to truly decide what I want to keep, and every time I think I'm ok, I'll realize I need to take the pictures from their frames just in case. So far I'm not in immediate trouble, and I'll hope it's under control before it gets closer. Even so, it's so sad to see houses burning on the news and smoke in the air. Not to mention hearing about people who had to leave their pets.

(*praying wholeheartedly) sorry to hear that, Taco. I've never experienced evacuation but that must be very horrible. I hope everything's gonna be fine, and you'll able to back home soon. Take care of yourself and all members here will be waiting to hear your good news. ...(*so worry) |

We never had forest fires here. I can only watch those kinds of things on TV. It's distressing to know you and your family in that kind of situation. I hope you'd be alright. I'll be praying. Very hard. |

Oh Taco, I'm so sorry! I hope that everything works out for the better, with any luck you'll be able to stay. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, I live in the desert (in California as well) and I know how scary it can be. ![]() You'll be in my prayers~ p.s. I grew up in San Diego, and I sure hope it doesn't burn too badly, I loved it there.

That's horrible, Taco, I'm sorry. You know, I'm in Montana, and we got over our fire season recently. We get many horrible fires here every year, and this year was no exception. I swear, people everywhere were evacuating and it seemed like the state was just going to burn to a crisp. I can understand what you're feeling. Please keep us updated Taco, and you'll be in my prayers too, of course. Just keep staying calm and I know you'll pull through. |

Things were ok yesterday, been awake most of the night. Things have gotten worse though and the fire is starting to head our way. Still uncertain if we will evacuate, but the chance is high again. Still very scared and tired, still very smoky as well. I'll update later if I can. |

Things still are bad, and we're keeping a close eye on things. We're right between two fires currently, and one is heading our way, the Harris fire. The other one is the Witch fire, which is currently the highest priority of all the fires. Still praying, and with the winds it's very stressful. We're all pretty tired because of watching the news all night and day, but prepared at least. We'll just have to see what happens. |

On a similar note, my best friend goes to Art Institute San Diego, and they've all been evacuated and classes were cancelled. I hope everything works out.... |
